Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with awe (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." Abu Huraira added: Messenger of Allah ﷺ has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ did not benefit by them).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ فَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I have been commissioned with words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies): and while I was asleep I was brought the keys of the treasures of the earth which were placed in my hand. And Abfi Huraira added: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has left (for his heavenly home) and you are now busy in getting them.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدَىَّ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا

: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘I have been sent with concise speech and I have been supported with fear. While I was sleeping, the keys to the treasures of the Earth were brought to me and placed in my hands.’” Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah has gone and you are acquiring them.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا

: “I heard the Messenger of Allah said: ‘I have been sent with concise speech, and I have been supported with fear. While I was sleeping, the keys to the treasures of the Earth were brought to me and placed in my hands.’ Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah has gone and you are acquiring them.”

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَدْ ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "I have been sent with Jawami al-Kalim (i.e., the shortest expression carrying the widest meanings), and I was made victorious with awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and were put in my hand." Muhammad said, Jawami'-al-Kalim means that Allah expresses in one or two statements or thereabouts the numerous matters that used to be written in the books revealed before (the coming of) the Prophet. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدَيَّ»

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي» قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا

نصرت بالرعب وأعطيت جوامع الكلم وبينا أنا نائم إذ جيء بمفاتيح خزائن الأرض فوضعت في يدي قال أَبُو هُرَيرة فذهب رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وأنتم تنتثلونهاوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن الزُّهْرِيّ عَن سَعِيد وَأَبي سَلَمة إلاَّ معمر

"بُعِثْتُ بجَوَامِع الكَلِم، ونُصِرْت بِالرُّعبِ، وبَينَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بمَفَاتِيح خَزَائِنِ الأرْضِ فَوُضعَتْ فِي يَدَى".
