We used to travel with the Prophet ﷺ and neither did the fasting persons criticize those who were not fasting, nor did those who were not fasting criticize the fasting ones.

كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

We went out on an expedition with Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the 16th of Ramadan. Some of us fasted and some of us broke the fast. But neither the observer of the fast found fault with one who broke it, nor the breaker of the fast found fault with one who observed it.

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِسِتَّ عَشْرَةَ مَضَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَمِنَّا مَنْ صَامَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَفْطَرَ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

We went out on an expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during Ramadan and neither the observer of the fast was found fault with for his fasting, nor the breaker of the fast for breaking it.

We travelled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the month of Ramadan, but neither the observer of the fast found fault with the breaker of the fast, nor the breaker of the fast found fault with the observer of the fast.

سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

We travelled along with the Prophet ﷺ during Ramadan. Some of us were fasting and other broke their fast. Those who fasted did not find fault with those who broke, and those who broke their fast did not find fault with those who fasted.

سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَصَامَ بَعْضُنَا وَأَفْطَرَ بَعْضُنَا فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

"We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah during the month of Ramadan. No one objected to the fast of the one fasting nor the fast breaking of the one who broke his fast."

كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَمَا يَعِيبُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ صَوْمَهُ وَلاَ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ إِفْطَارَهُ

"We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah. Some of us were fasting and some of us broke their fast. The one who broke their fast had no objection to the one who fasted, and the one who fasted had no objection to the one who broke his fast. They saw that whoever had the strength to fast then that was good, and whoever was weak, then breaking it was better."

كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَمِنَّا الصَّائِمُ وَمِنَّا الْمُفْطِرُ فَلاَ يَجِدُ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ وَلاَ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ فَكَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ وَجَدَ قُوَّةً فَصَامَ فَحَسَنٌ وَمَنْ وَجَدَ ضَعْفًا فَأَفْطَرَ فَحَسَنٌ

"We were traveling in Ramadan and among us were some who were fasting and some who were not. Those who were fasting did not criticize those who were not, and those who were not fasting did not criticize those who were."

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُمَا سَافَرَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَصُومُ الصَّائِمُ وَيُفْطِرُ الْمُفْطِرُ وَلاَ يَعِيبُ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

"We were traveling in Ramadan and among us were some who were fasting and some who were not. Those who were fasting did not criticize those who were not, and those who were not fasting did not criticize those who were." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2309)

[AI] "We participated in a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for six days in the month of Ramadan. Some of us fasted and some of us broke our fast. The fasting ones did not criticize those who broke their fast, nor did the ones who broke their fast criticize those who were fasting."

غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لِسِتَّ عَشْرَةَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَمِنَّا مَنْ صَامَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَفْطَرَ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلَا الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd at-Tawil that Anas ibn Malik said, "We once travelled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Ramadan, and those who were fasting did not find fault with those who were not, and those who were not fasting did not find fault with those who were."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلاَ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

"We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah. Some of us were fasting and some of us broke their fast. أَنَّهُ قَالَ «سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَصَامَ صَائِمُنَا وَأَفْطَرَ مُفْطِرُنَا فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلَا الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ

[AI] We used to fast and break our fast, and the one who is breaking their fast does not criticize the one who is fasting, nor does the one who is fasting criticize the one who is breaking their fast.

«كُنَّا نَصُومُ وَنُفْطِرُ وَلَا يَعِيبُ الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ وَلَا الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ»

[AI] Indeed, we, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, used to travel, so among us were those who were fasting, and among us were those who were breaking their fast, and among us were those who were performing complete prayers, and among us were those who were performing shortened prayers. The fasting person did not criticize the one breaking their fast, nor did the one breaking their fast criticize the fasting person, and the one performing shortened prayers did not criticize the one performing complete prayers, nor did the one performing complete prayers criticize the one performing shortened prayers.

إِنَّا مَعَاشِرَ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ فَمِنَّا الصَّائِمُ وَمِنَّا الْمُفْطِرُ وَمِنَّا الْمُتِمُّ وَمِنَّا الْمُقْصِرُ فَلَمْ يَعِبِ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلَا الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ وَلَا الْمُقْصِرُ عَلَى الْمُتِمِّ وَلَا الْمُتِمُّ عَلَى الْمُقْصِرِ

We travelled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the month of Ramadan, but neither the observer of the fast found fault with the breaker of the fast, nor the breaker of the fast found fault with the observer of the fast. (Using translation from Muslim 1118a)
