I got excited, so I kissed while I was fasting, I then said: Messenger of Allah, I have done a big deed; I kissed while I was fasting. He said: What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water while you are fasting. The narrator Isa ibn Hammad said in his version: I said to him: There is no harm in it. Then both of them agreed on the version: He said: Then what?

عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ هَشِشْتُ فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَنَعْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ مَضْمَضْتَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ قَالَ عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قُلْتُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا قَالَ فَمَهْ

[AI] "I had a dry throat, so I kissed while fasting. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'I have done something great today; I kissed while fasting.' He asked, 'What if you had rinsed your mouth with water?' I replied, 'Then it would not have been harmful.' He said, 'Then do so.'"

هَشِشْتُ فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي صَنَعْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ مَضْمَضْتَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ؟» قُلْتُ إِذًا لَا يَضُرُّ قَالَ «فَفِيمَ؟»

I was in good spirits one day and kissed (my wife) when I was fasting. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have done something serious. I kissed (my wife) when I was fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water when you are fasting?ʿ I said: There is nothing wrong with it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Then why (are you worried)?ʿ

هَشَشْتُ يَوْمًا فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَأَتَيْتُالنَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ صَنَعْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ تَمَضْمَضْتَ بِمَاءٍ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ؟ قُلْتُ لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَفِيمَ؟

I got excited one day and kissed [my wife] when I was fasting I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Today I have done a horrible thing: I kissed [my wife) when I was fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿWhat do you think if you rinse your mouth with water when you are fasting?ʿ I said: There is nothing wrong with that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿThen why [are you worried]?”

أَنَّهُ قَالَ هَشَشْتُ يَوْمًا فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ صَنَعْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا؛ قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ تَمَضْمَضْتَ بِمَاءٍ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ؟ فَقُلْتُ لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَفِيمَ؟

[AI] I took a break and kissed while I was fasting, then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I have done a great thing today." He said, "What is it?" I said, "I kissed while fasting." He ﷺ said, "What if you rinse your mouth with water?" I said, "Then it does not harm." He ﷺ said, "So do it."

"هَشَشْتُ يَوْمًا فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَأتَيْتُ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: صنعتُ اليومَ أمرًا عظيمًا، قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صائمٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : أرأيتَ لَوْ تَمضمضتَ وأنت صائِمٌ؟ قلتُ: لا بَأسَ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : (فَفِيمَ؟ ) ".
