[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sit and make the tashahhud. He would place his right hand on his right thigh and his left hand on his left thigh, and he would clench his fingers together and make supplication.  

البيهقي:٢٧٨١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ اللَّاحِقِيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَعَدَ يَتَشَهَّدُ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَيَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَعَقَدَ ثَلَاثًا وَخَمْسِينَ يَدْعُو  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَعَقَدَ ثَلَاثًا وَخَمْسِينَ وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ
