When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gained booty he ordered Bilal to make a public announcement. He made a public announcement, and when the people brought their booty, he would take a fifth and divide it. Thereafter a man brought a halter of hair and said: Messenger of Allah, this is a part of the booty we got. He asked: Have you heard Bilal making announcement three times? He replied: Yes. He asked: What did prevent you from bringing it? He made some excuse, to which he said: Be (as you are), you may bring it on the Day of Judgment, for I shall not accept it from you.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَصَابَ غَنِيمَةً أَمَرَ بِلاَلاً فَنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ فَيَجِيئُونَ بِغَنَائِمِهِمْ فَيُخَمِّسُهُ وَيُقَسِّمُهُ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِزِمَامٍ مِنْ شَعَرٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا فِيمَا كُنَّا أَصَبْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَنِيمَةِ فَقَالَ أَسَمِعْتَ بِلاَلاً يُنَادِي ثَلاَثًا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَجِيءَ بِهِ فَاعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ كُنْ أَنْتَ تَجِيءُ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَلَنْ أَقْبَلَهُ عَنْكَ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to call Bilal three times when he wanted to distribute the spoils of war. After dividing the spoils, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ holding a handful of hair and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is from the spoils that I acquired." The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did you not hear Bilal calling three times?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ then asked him, "What prevented you from coming to me earlier?" The man was instructed to give it back, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "I will not accept it until you bring it to me yourself."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to command Bilal to make a call when he received a booty. He would call three times, and then the people would raise whatever they had obtained. Then the Prophet ﷺ would command that it be divided into fifths. A man came to him with a bridle made of hair, and the booty had already been divided. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Have you heard Bilal making the call three times?" The man replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ then asked, "What stopped you from bringing it?" The man apologized, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Be the one who would deal with it on the Day of Resurrection. I will not accept it from you."

[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , when he obtained spoils of war, he would command Bilal to make an announcement three times, and the people would bring forth what they had obtained. Then, he would command Bilal to distribute it among them. A man came to him bringing a handful of hair and said, "Did you hear Bilal making the announcement three times?" He replied, "Yes." The man said, "Then what prevented you from bringing it?" The Prophet apologized to him and said, "You be the one who distributes it on the Day of Resurrection, for I will not accept it from you." And so on.
