[Machine] The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he came out and performed two units of prayer. Then he said, "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah, and they do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So if you see an eclipse, then pray and supplicate to Allah and remember Him in this manner..."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs like this prayer of yours, and he mentioned the eclipse of the sun. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1492)

[Machine] I only prayed as I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying, and he said, "Verily, the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So if you see anything of them as an eclipse, then seek refuge in Allah."

In the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ the sun eclipsed, so he led the people in prayer, and stood up and performed a long Qiyam, then bowed for a long while. He stood up again and performed a long Qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long time but shorter than the first one, then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in the second rakʿa as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then the sun (eclipse) had cleared. He delivered the Khutba (sermon) and after praising and glorifying Allah he said, "The sun and the moon are two signs against the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah and say Takbir, pray and give Sadaqa." The Prophet then said, "O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! There is none who has more ghaira (selfrespect) than Allah as He has forbidden that His slaves, male or female commit adultery (illegal sexual intercourse). O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew that which I know you would laugh little and weep much. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1044)

The sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As I went to 'A'isha who was busy in prayer. I said: What is the matter with the people that they are praying (a special prayer)? She ('A'isha) pointed towards the sky with her head. I said: Is it (an unusual) sign? She said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for prayer for such a long time that I was about to faint. I caught hold of a waterskin lying by my side, and began to pour water over my head, or (began to sprinkle water) on my face. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then finished and the sun had brightened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then addressed the people, (after) praising Allah and lauding Him, and then said: There was no such thing as I did not see earlier, but I saw it at this very place of mine. I ever saw Paradise and Hell. It was also revealed to me that you would be tried in the graves, as you would he tried something like the turmoil of the Dajjal. Asma' said: I do not know which word he actually used (qariban or mithl), and each one of you would be brought and it would be said: What is your knowledge about this man? If the person is a believer, (Asma' said: I do not know whether it was the word al-Mu'min or al-Mu'qin) he would say: He is Muhammad and he is the Messenger of Allah. He brought to us the clear signs and right guidance. So we responded and obeyed him. (He would repeat this three times), and it would be said to him: You should go to sleep. We already knew that you are a believer in him. So the pious man would go to sleep. So far as the hypocrite or sceptic is concerned (Asma' said: I do not know which word was that: al-Munafiq (hypocrite) or al-Murtad (doubtful) he would say: I do not know. I only uttered whatever I heard people say. (Using translation from Muslim 905a)

[Machine] That day I attended a sermon by Samurah ibn Jundub, in which he mentioned that once, when he was a young boy among the Ansar, we played a game near the Prophet's ﷺ covenant until the sun was just above the horizon, it turned black and shone like a firebrand. One of us said to his companion, "Let's go to the mosque and, by Allah, we will inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what happened to the sun in his nation." So we went to the mosque, and there he was standing at the door. When he went out to the people, he came forward and prayed with us for as long as he had never prayed before, his voice being inaudible. Then he bowed with us as long as he had never bowed before, his voice being inaudible. Then he prostrated with us as long as he had never prostrated before, his voice being inaudible. Then he did the same in the second rakah, and when he rose from the second prostration, the sun had cleared up while he was still sitting and the people were still in the second rakah. Then he said the tasleem, praised and glorified Allah, and testified that there is no god but Allah and that he is His servant and Messenger. Then he said, "O people, I am only a human being and the Messenger of Allah. I remind you of Allah. If you know that I have omitted something of my Lord's messages, inform me of them, so that I may fully convey my Lord's messages as they should be conveyed. And if you know that I have conveyed my Lord's messages, then bear witness to that " So the people got up and said, "We bear witness that you have conveyed your Lord's messages and acted with sincerity towards your nation, and you have fulfilled what was required of you." Then they fell silent, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for the solar eclipse and lunar eclipse and the disappearance of these stars from their place, this is caused by the death of great men from the people of the earth, and they deny it but they are signs from the signs of Allah by means of which He puts His slaves to the test, until He sees who among them will turn in repentance. By Allah, since I started praying, I have been seeing things that neither you nor anyone else on earth can see. The Hour will not begin until thirty liars appear among whom the last will be the one-eyed Dajjal, who will be rubbing the eye with which he is blind and it will look like the eye of Abu Yahya's father, a leader among the Ansar. When he appears, whoever believes in him, follows him, but his former good deeds will not benefit him, and whoever disbelieves in him and rejects him, his previous bad deeds will not be counted against him. He will appear on the entire earth except for the Haram and the Bayt al-Maqdis, and he will gather the believers in the Bayt al-Maqdis, where they will experience a severe earthquake that Allah and His soldiers will be able to defeat him so that even the roots of the trees and the stones of the walls will call out, 'O believer, this one is a disbeliever seeking refuge with me, so come and kill him.' And that will not happen until you see matters becoming more serious among yourselves, and you will ask each other whether your Prophet has informed you of them. The mountains will then move from their places, at which point he gestured with his hand. The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He stood in great anxiety fearing that it might be the Doomsday, till he came to the mosque. He stood up to pray with prolonged qiyam, ruku', and prostration which I never saw him doing in prayer; and then he said: These are the signs which Allah sends, not on account of the death of anyone or life of any one, but Allah sends them to frighten thereby His servants. So when you see any such thing, hasten to remember Him, supplicate Him and beg pardon from Him, and in the narration transmitted by Ibn 'Ala the words are:" The sun eclipsed"."" He frightens His servants." (Using translation from Muslim 912)

[Machine] The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he mentioned it in his prayer. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer and the sun had reappeared. He addressed the people and praised and glorified Allah. Then he said, "Verily, the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah, and they do not eclipse due to the death or life of anyone. So when you see them, supplicate to Allah and pray and give charity, O Ummah of Muhammad. There is none greater in terms of forbearance than Allah, that His slave commits adultery or His nation commits adultery. O Ummah of Muhammad, if you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little. Have I not conveyed the message?"

So when you see them, supplicate to Allah and pray until the eclipse is over."

(the wife of the Prophet) On the day when the sun Khasafat (eclipsed) Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed; he stood up and said Takbir and recited a prolonged recitation, then he performed a prolonged bowing, then he raised his head and said, "Samiʿa l-lahu Lyman Hamidah," and then remained standing and recited a prolonged recitation which was shorter than the first. Then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than the first. Then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration and he did the same in the second rakʿa as in the first and then finished the prayer with Taslim. By that time the sun (eclipse) had cleared He addressed the people and said, "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse (Yakhsifan) because of the death or the life (i.e. birth) of someone. So when you see them make haste for the prayer." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1047)

bayhaqi:6382Abū Ṭāhir al-Faqīh > Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Qaṭṭān > Aḥmad b. Yūsuf al-Sulamī > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Qatādah And ʿĀṣim > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] He prayed during an earthquake in Basra, and he prolonged the prostration (sujood), then he performed the bow (rukoo'), then he raised his head and prolonged the prostration (sujood), then he performed the bow (rukoo') again and raised his head, then he prolonged the prostration (sujood) again, then he performed the bow (rukoo') and then prostrated (sajdah), then he stood up for the second (rak'ah) and did the same. Thus, his prayer became six bowings (raka'at) and four prostrations (sujood). Qatadah said about his narration, "Such are the verses." Ibn Abbas said, "Such is the prayer of the verses."
