"You will become keen for positions of authority, but that will become a regret and loss. What a good life they will live, but how hard it will be for them when they die."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الإِمَارَةِ وَإِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ نَدَامَةً وَحَسْرَةً فَنِعْمَتِ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ  

The Prophet [SAW] said: "You will be keen for governorship but it will be regret and loss on the Day of Resurrection. What a good position it is when they are alive, but how miserable their state when they die (and leave it behind)."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الإِمَارَةِ وَإِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ نَدَامَةً وَحَسْرَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَنِعْمَتِ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Indeed, you will desire leadership and it will become a source of regret and remorse." Hajjaj said on the Day of Judgment, "Blessed be the one who breastfed me, and how unfortunate is Fatimah."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الْإِمَارَةِ وَسَتَصِيرُ حَسْرَةً وَنَدَامَةً قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ نِعْمَتِ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ  

"You will become keen for positions of authority, but that will become a regret and loss. What a good life they will live, but how hard it will be for them when they die." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4211)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الْإِمَارَةِ وَإِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ نَدَامَةً وَحَسْرَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَنِعْمَ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ»  

[Machine] Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz reported to us that Abu Al-Abbas Al-Naysaburi narrated to us from Marw, who narrated from Abu Al-Mujjah, who narrated from Ahmed bin Yunus, who narrated from Ibn Abi Dhib, who narrated from Sa'eed al-Maqburi, who narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, you will eagerly desire leadership, and on the Day of Judgment it will be a source of regret and remorse. So, blessed are those who are breastfed, and wretched is Fatimah."  

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ثنا أَبُو الْمُوَجَّهِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الْإِمَارَةِ وَإِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَسْرَةً وَنَدَامَةً فَنِعْمَتِ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ

"إِنَّكم ستحرِصون على الإِمارةِ، وإِنَّها ستكونُ ندامةً وحسرةً يومَ القيامةِ فَنِعْمَت المُرْضِعَةُ وبئست الفاطمةُ ".
