[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was moving his lips during the days of Hunayn with something he had not done before that. He said: Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, there was a prophet among those before you whose nation impressed him, and he said, 'These people will not be overcome by anything.' Then Allah revealed to him to let them choose one of three: either I will set against them an enemy from outside them who will ravage them, or hunger, or death." He said: So they said, "As for killing or hunger, we have no strength for that, but death." He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Then seventy thousand died in three days." He said: Then he said: "So now I say: O Allah, by You I strive, by You I charge, and by You I fight."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْهِ أَيَّامَ حُنَيْنٍ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَفْعَلُهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ. قَالَ: فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: «إِنَّ نَبِيًّا كَانَ فِيمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَعْجَبَتْهُ أُمَّتُهُ، فَقَالَ: لَنْ يَرُومَ هَؤُلَاءِ شَيْءٌ. فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ خَيِّرْهُمْ بَيْنَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ: إِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَعَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَهُمْ، أَوِ الْجُوعَ، أَوِ الْمَوْتَ». قَالَ: فَقَالُوا: أَمَّا الْقَتْلُ أَوِ الْجُوعُ فَلَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ، وَلَكِنِ الْمَوْتُ. قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «فَمَاتَ فِي ثَلَاثٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا». قَالَ: فَقَالَ: «فَأَنَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ: اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُحَاوِلُ، وَبِكَ أَصُولُ، وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ».

[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray, he would whisper something that I did not understand, and he would not inform us about it. He then asked us, 'Did you understand?' We replied, 'No.' He said, 'I mentioned a Prophet from the Prophets who was granted an army from his people. He asked, "Who will reward or take care of these soldiers?" or similar to that. Then revelation came to him and he was told to choose one of three options for his people: either to subject them to an enemy from outside, or to famine, or to death. So, he consulted his people about that, and they said, 'You are the Prophet of Allah, so we leave the decision in your hands.' He then went to pray. Whenever they faced an alarming situation, they would rush to perform prayer. So, he prayed what Allah willed. Then he said, 'O Lord, should it be an enemy from outside, then no; should it be famine, then no; but rather death.' So, death was inflicted on them and seventy thousand of them died. The whispering that you hear me say is: 'O Allah, with You I fight and with You I seek refuge. There is no might or power except with Allah.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى هَمَسَ شَيْئًا لَا أَفْهَمُهُ وَلَا يُخْبِرُنَا بِهِ قَالَ أَفَطِنْتُمْ لِي؟ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنِّي ذَكَرْتُ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أُعْطِيَ جُنُودًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ يُكَافِئُ هَؤُلَاءِ أَوْ مَنْ يَقُومُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ؟ أَوْ غَيْرَهَا مِنَ الْكَلَامِ فَأُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ اخْتَرْ لِقَوْمِكَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ إِمَّا أَنْ نُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ أَوِ الْجُوعَ أَوِ الْمَوْتَ فَاسْتَشَارَ قَوْمَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ نَكِلُّ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْكَ خِرْ لَنَا فَقَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَكَانُوا إِذَا فَزِعُوا فَزِعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى مَا شَاءَ اللهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيْ رَبِّ أَمَّا عَدُوٌّ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَلَا أَوِ الْجُوعُ فَلَا وَلَكِنِ الْمَوْتُ فَسُلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَوْتُ فَمَاتَ مِنْهُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا فَهَمْسِي الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي أَقُولُ اللهُمَّ بِكَ أُقَاتِلُ وَبِكَ أُصَاوِلُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ whispered something we did not understand, so he said, "Did you understand me?" We said, "Yes." He said, "I mentioned a prophet among the prophets who was given troops from his people. He said, 'Who will fight for these people?' So Allah revealed to him to choose one of three: either to subject them to the attack of an enemy from outside, or to cause them to suffer from famine, or to afflict them with death. So he consulted his people about this, and they said, 'You are the Messenger of Allah; decide for us.' He then stood up for prayer, and whenever they were distressed, they would hasten to prayer. He prayed as Allah willed, then he said, 'O Lord, as for their enemy, let it not be something other than themselves; as for famine, let it not be upon them; but afflict them with death for three days.' Seventy thousand of them died. What I whispered to you is that I said, 'O Allah, I fight and strive with Your help, and there is no power or strength except with Allah.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَمَسَ شَيْئًا لَا نَفْهَمُهُ فَقَالَ «أَفَطِنْتُمْ لِي؟ » قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ «إِنِّي ذَكَرْتُ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أُعْطِيَ جُنُودًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَقُومُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ؟ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ أَنِ اخْتَرْ لِقَوْمِكَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ إِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ أَوِ الْجُوعَ أَوِ الْمَوْتَ فَاسْتَشَارَ قَوْمَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ نَكِلُ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْكَ خِرْ لَنَا فَقَامَ إِلَى صَلَاتِهِ وَكَانُوا إِذَا فَزِعُوا فَزِعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ أَيْ رَبِّ أَمَّا عَدُوُّهُمْ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ وَالْجُوعُ فَلَا وَلَكِنِ الْمَوْتُ فَسُلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَوْتَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَمَاتَ مِنْهُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا فَهَمْسِي الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنْ أَقُولَ اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُقَاتِلُ وَبِكَ أُصَاوِلُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to whisper something in his prayer without informing us about it. He would then ask, "Did you understand what I said?" We would reply, "No." He would say, "I mentioned a Prophet from among the Prophets who was given an army from his people. He asked, 'Who will compensate them or stand up for them?' Salomon said a word similar to this. It was said to him, 'Choose one of three things for your people: either I will send against them an enemy against whom no one would be able to stand, or I will inflict a famine upon them, or I will cause death to overtake them within three days.' They said, 'You are the Prophet of Allah, so you should choose on our behalf.' He then said in his prayer, 'When they would be distressed, they would turn to prayer. As for an enemy against whom no one would be able to stand, it is a lie. And as for famine, it is a lie. However, death would be sent against them for three days, and they would perish in large numbers.' So, the one you saw me mentioning is the Lord, whom I fight for and seek His support. There is no refuge from Him nor any power except with Him."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى هَمَسَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُخْبِرُنَا بِهِ قَالَ «أَفَطِنْتُمْ لِي» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أُعْطِيَ جُنُودًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ يُكَافِئُ هَؤُلَاءِ أَمْ يَقُومُ لَهُمْ؟ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ كَلِمَةً شَبِيهَةً بِهَذِهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ اخْتَرْ لِقَوْمِكَ بَيْنَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ بَيْنَ أَنْ أَبْسُطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ أَوِ الْجُوعَ أَوِ الْمَوْتَ فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْكَ فَخِرْ لَنَا فَقَالَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ وَكَانُوا إِذَا فَزِعُوا فَزِعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا عَدُوٌّ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَلَا وَأَمَّا الْجُوعُ فَلَا وَلَكِنِ الْمَوْتُ فَسُلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَمَاتَ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا فَالَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي أَقُولُ رَبِّي بِكَ أُقَاتِلُ وَبِكَ أُصَاوِلُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِكَ

يَكُنْ يَفْعَلُهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَفَطِنْتُمْ لِمَا أَصْنَعُ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنِّي ذَكَرْتُ نَبِيًّا أَعْجَبَهُ كَثْرَةُ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ لَنْ يَغْلِبَ هَؤُلَاءِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ قَالَ لَنْ يَغْلِبُوا هَؤُلَاءِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ خَيِّرْ قَوْمَكَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ إِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَهُمْ وَإِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجُوعَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَوْتَ فَأَخْبَرَ بِذَلِكَ قَوْمُهُ قَالُوا فَاخْتَرْ لَنَا فَقَدْ وَكَّلَنَا رَبُّكَ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَصَلَّى قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَكَانُوا يَفْزَعُونَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ إِمَّا أَنْ تُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوَّهُمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَهُمْ فَلَا وَإِمَّا أَنْ تُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجُوعَ فَلَا وَلَكِنِ الْمَوْتُ فَمَاتَ فِي ثَلَاثِة أَيَّامٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهَمْسِي الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنْ أَقُولَ اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُحُولُ اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُصُولُ اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُقَاتِلُ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ بِهَذَا الْكَلَامِ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا صُهَيْبٌ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ لَهُ طَرِيقًا عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ إِلَّا هَذَا الطَّرِيقَ

"إِنَّ نَبِيًا من الأَنبياءِ أَعْجَبَتْهُ كَثْرَةُ أُمَّتِهِ، فقال: من يقومُ لهولأُءِ فَأَوْحَى اللَّه إليهِ: أَن خَيِّر أُمتَّكَ بَيْنَ إِحْدَى ثلاث: إِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عليهم الموتَ، أَو الْعَدُوَّ، أَو الجوعَ؛ فَعَرضَ لَهُمْ ذِلكَ فقالوَا: أَنت نبىُّ اللَّه نَكِلُ ذلِكَ إِليكَ، فَخِرْ لَنَا، فَقَامَ إِلى

صلاتِهِ وكانوا يَفْزَعُونَ إِذا فزِعوا إلى الصلاِة؛ فَصَلَّى فقال: أَمَّا الجِوعُ فلا طاقةَ لنا به: ولا طاقةَ لنا بالْعَدُوِّ ولكن الموتُ. فَسُلِّطَ عليهم الموتُ فمات منهم في ثلاثة أيَّامٍ سبْعُون أَلفًا فأَنا اليومَ أَقولُ: اللهمَّ بِكَ أُحاوِلُ، وبِكَ أُصَاوِلُ، وبكَ أُقَاتل ولا حولَ ولا قوَّةَ إِلا باللَّه".

"كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى هَمَسَ شَيْئًا لاَ يُخْبرُنا به، فَقُلنَا: يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنَّكَ ممَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ هَمَسْتَ شَيْئًا لا نَفْقَهُهُ، قالَ: فَظَنَنْتُمْ بى، قُلتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ نَبيا مِنَ الأنْبِياء (أعطى) جُنُودًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لِنَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَقالَ. مَنْ يُكافِئ هَؤُلاءِ،

فَقيلَ لَهُ: اخْتَر لِقَوْمكَ إِحْدَى ثَلاَث: إِمَّا أَنْ يُسَلَّط عَلَيْهِمْ عَدوًّا منْ غَيْرِهِمْ، أَو الجُوع، أوْ المَوْت، فَعَرضَ ذلِكَ عَلَى قَوْمه، فَقَالُوا: أَنْتَ نَبىُّ الله، فَاخْتَر لَنَا، فَقال إِلَى الصَّلاَة، وَكَانُوا مِمَّا إِذا نَزُعُوا (فَزَعُوا) إِلى الصَّلاَة، فَصَلَّى بهِمْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: "اللَّهُمَّ إِمَّا أَنْ تُسَلِّط عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَلاَ، أَوِ الجُوعَ فَلاَ، وَلَكِنَّ الموْتَ، فَسَلَّطَ عَلَيْهمْ المَوْتَ، فَمَاتَ منهُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلفًا فِى ثَلاَثة أَيَّامٍ، قَالَ: (فَهَمْسِى) التى تَسْمَعُونَ أَنّى أَقُولُ: "اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُحَاوِلُ، وَبكَ أُصَاوِلُ، وَلَاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِكَ".
