ahmad:13991ʿAffān > Wuhayb > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Ṣuhayb > Anas b. Mālik

Some persons from amongst my associates would turn to my Cistern; when I would see them and they would be presented to me, they would be detained in the way while coming to me. I would say: My Lord, they are my companions, they are my companions, and it would be said to me: You don't know what innovations they made after you. (Using translation from Muslim 2304a)   

أحمد:١٣٩٩١حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَرِدَنَّ الْحَوْضَ عَلَيَّ رِجَالٌ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَيْتُهُمْ رُفِعُوا إِلَيَّ فَاخْتُلِجُوا دُونِي فَلَأَقُولَنَّ يَا رَبِّ أَصْحَابِي أَصْحَابِي فَيُقَالُ إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوابَعْدَكَ

"Muhammad [SAW] said: 'Whoever wears silk in this world, will not wear it in the Hereafter.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5304)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَلَنْ يَلْبَسَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ

“Eat Suhur, for in Suhur there is a blessing.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1692)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَسَحَّرُوا فَإِنَّ فِي السُّحُورِ بَرَكَةً

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should wish for death because of a calamity befalling him; but if he has to wish for death, he should say: "O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me.' " (Using translation from Bukhārī 5671)  

أحمد:١٣٩٩٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ مِنْ ضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَلْيَقُلْ اللهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to sacrifice two rams. Anas said, "I also used to sacrifice them."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشَيْنِ قَالَأَنَسٌ وَأَنَا أُضَحِّي بِهِمَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a funeral and they praised it favorably, so he said, "It is binding, it is binding." And he passed by another funeral and they praised it negatively, so he said, "It is binding, it is binding." Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, your first statement 'it is binding' and your second statement 'it is binding'? "The Prophet said, "As for the first, when they praised it favorably, I said that Paradise is binding for him. As for the second, when they praised it negatively, I said that Hellfire is binding for him. And you are witnesses of Allah on His earth."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقَالَ وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ وَمَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فَقَالَ وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَوْلُكَ الْأَوَّلُ وَجَبَتْ وَقَوْلُكَ الْآخَرُ وَجَبَتْ؟ قَالَ أَمَّا الْأَوَّلُ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقُلْتُ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فَقُلْتُ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ النَّارُ وَأَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي أَرْضِهِ

[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to allow it and complete it, meaning he would shorten the prayer.  

أحمد:١٣٩٩٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِصُهَيْبٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُجَوِّزُهَا وَيُكْمِلُهَا يَعْنِي يُخَفِّفُ الصَّلَاةَ  

ahmad:13998Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Anas

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ married Safiyyah, and Thabit said to him, "How can you believe her?" He replied, "I believe her because she herself affirmed it and freed her and married her."  

أحمد:١٣٩٩٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ مَا أَصْدَقَهَا؟ قَالَ أَصْدَقَهَا نَفْسَهَا أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say this supplication when entering the restroom: "I seek refuge in Allah from the male and female devils." Shu'bah said that he used to recite both versions of the supplication.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَى الْخَلَاءَ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبِيثِ أَوِ الْخَبَائِثِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَقَدْ قَالَهُمَا جَمِيعًا  

ahmad:14000Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. Jabr > Anas b. Mālik

"I heard Anas bin Malik say: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Wudu' with a Makkuk (cup) and Ghusl with five Makkuks (cups).'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 73)   

أحمد:١٤٠٠٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَغْتَسِلُ بِخَمْسَةِ مَكَاكِيكَ وَكَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمَكُّوكِ  

ahmad:14001Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > Saʾalt Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Medina and we used to pray two rak'ahs until we returned to Medina. So I asked him, "How long did you stay in Mecca?" He said, "Ten days." I said, "With what did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform Umrah and Hajj?" He said, "Labbaik (response to the call of) with Umrah and Hajj."  

أحمد:١٤٠٠١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي السَّفَرِ فَقَالَ

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَكُنَّا نُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى نَرْجِعَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ كَمْ أَقَمْتُمْ بِمَكَّةَ؟ قَالَ عَشَرَةَ أَيَّامٍ قُلْتُ فَبِمَ أَهَلَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجٍّ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Labbaik (Here I am) for 'Umrah and Hajj together," or he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said..."  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجَّةٍ مَعًا أَوْ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

ahmad:14003Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called a young boy from among us and he took his measurement. Then, he gave him his wages, a sa' or two sa', and he told his servants to lessen his tax burden."  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامًا مِنَّا فَحَجَمَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ أَجْرَهُ صَاعًا أَوْ صَاعَيْنِ وَكَلَّمَ مَوَالِيَهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spent a month praying against the living ones from the Arabs, specifically Ri`l, Bani Lihyan, `Usayyah, and Thaqwan, during the Fajr prayer.  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَنَتَ شَهْرًا يَدْعُو عَلَى أَحْيَاءٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ رِعْلٍ وَبَنِي لِحْيَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ وَذَكْوَانَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated for a month after the bowing.  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ  

ahmad:14006Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Saʿīd > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was not accustomed to raise his hands in any supplication he made except when praying for rain. He would then raise them high enough so much so that the whiteness of his armpits was visible. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1170)   

أحمد:١٤٠٠٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ لَا يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ إِلَّا عِنْدَ الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, then the atonement for it is to pray it when they remember it."  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً أَوْ نَامَ عَنْهَا فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا  

ahmad:14008Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAlī b. Zayd > Anas

“I heard Anas bin Malik say: ‘The Mu ’adh-dhin would call the Adhan during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one would think that it was the Iqamah because there were so many people who stood and performed the two Rak’ah before the Maghrib.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1163)  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ إِنْ كَانَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ لَيُؤَذِّنُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنُرَى أَنَّهَا الْإِقَامَةُ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ مَنْ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ  

ahmad:14009Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Ḥamzah al-Ḍabbī > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying, "I never performed the prayer (meaning, following the prayer of) a man or anyone from the people with more focus than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in its entirety."  

أحمد:١٤٠٠٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَمْزَةَ الضَّبِّيَّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ مَا صَلَّيْتُ يَعْنِي وَرَاءَ رَجُلٍ أَوْأَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَخَفَّ صَلَاةً مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي تَمَامٍ

[Machine] His mother, Umm Sulaim, asked the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . She said, "Does a woman see in her dream what a man sees?" He said, "If she sees that in her dream, then she should perform ghusl (a ritual bath)." Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, ﷺ , felt shy and asked, "Could this really be, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Yes, so where else would the resemblance come from? The man's fluid is white and thick, while the woman's is yellow and thin. So, which one comes first or overpowers the other?"  

أحمد:١٤٠١٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَأَتْ ذَلِكَ فِي مَنَامِهَا فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَاسْتَحْيَتْ أَوَيَكُونُ هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ؟ مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ أَبْيَضُ غَلِيظٌ وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ رَقِيقٌ فَمِنْ أَيِّهِمَا سَبَقَ أَوْ عَلَا يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ  

ahmad:14011ʿAffān > Sulaymān b. al-Mughīrah > Thābit > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Haritha, my cousin's son, set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Battle of Badr as a young boy with spectacles. When he set out for battle, he was struck by an arrow and killed. His mother, my cousin, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, if my son Haritha is in paradise, then I will be patient and anticipate rewards. But if not, then Allah will see what I will do." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O mother of Haritha, there are many gardens and Haritha is in the highest paradise, al-Firdaus."  

أحمد:١٤٠١١حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

انْطَلَقَ حَارِثَةُ ابْنُ عَمَّتِي يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامًا نَظَّارًا مَا انْطَلَقَ لِلْقِتَالِ قَالَ فَأَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ فَقَتَلَهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّهُ عَمَّتِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ابْنِي حَارِثَةُ إِنْ يَكُنْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَصْبِرْ وَأَحْتَسِبْ وَإِلَّا فَسَيَرَى اللهُ مَا أَصْنَعُ؟ قَالَ يَا أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ إِنَّهَا جِنَانٌ كَثِيرَةٌ وَإِنَّ حَارِثَةَ فِي الْفِرْدَوْسِ الْأَعْلَى  

ahmad:14012ʿAffān > Mubārak b. Faḍālah > al-Ḥasan > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his house when a man came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour (i.e., the Day of Judgment)?" He said, "Indeed, the Hour is coming, but what have you prepared for it?" The man said, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I have not prepared much for it except that I love Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, you will be with whom you love and you will have what you anticipate." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to pray. After he finished his prayer, he asked, "Where is the one who asked about the Hour?" So the man approached, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked towards the house and saw a boy in the company of a group from the tribe of Abu Hurairah, called Sa'ad ibn Malik. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This boy, if he lives long enough, he will not grow old until the Hour comes." Al-Hasan said, and Anas informed me, "That boy was one of my peers at that time."  

أحمد:١٤٠١٢حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَجَاءَه رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ؟ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهَا قَائِمَةٌ فَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا؟ قَالَ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا مِنْ كَثِيرِ عَمَلٍ غَيْرَ أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكَ مَا احْتَسَبْتَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ؟ فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَىالْبَيْتِ فَإِذَا غُلَامٌ مِنْ دَوْسٍ مِنْ رَهْطِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَذَا الْغُلَامُ إِنْ طَالَ بِهِ عُمُرٌ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ بِهِ الْهَرَمُ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسٌ أَنَّ الْغُلَامَ كَانَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مِنْ أَقْرَانِي  

ahmad:14013ʿAffān > Ibrāhīm Abū Ismāʿīl al-Qannād > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , from his Lord, He said, "Your Lord says: When My servant comes to Me walking, I go to him running. When he comes to Me with a span, I approach him with an arm's length. And when he comes to Me walking, I meet him trotting."  

أحمد:١٤٠١٣حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْقَنَّادُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ ﷻ قَالَ يَقُولُ رَبُّكُمْ إِذَا تَلَقَّانِي عَبْدِي شِبْرًا تَلَقَّيْتُهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَلَقَّانِي ذِرَاعًا تَلَقَّيْتُهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا تَلَقَّانِي يَمْشِي تَلَقَّيْتُهُ أُهَرْوِلُ  

ahmad:14014ʿAffān > Abān / al-ʿAṭṭār > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "I have been sent and the Hour (Day of Judgment) is like these two fingers," and he pointed with his index and middle fingers.  

أحمد:١٤٠١٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَأَوْمَأَ عَفَّانُ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى  

ahmad:14015ʿAffān > Abān > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Haritha was injured on the day of Badr, so his mother said, "O Prophet of Allah, if my son enters Paradise, then I will not cry for him, otherwise I will cry a lot for him." He said, "O mother of Haritha, there are many gardens in Paradise, and Haritha has reached the highest level of Paradise, Al-Firdaus."  

أحمد:١٤٠١٥حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ حَارِثَةُ أُصِيبَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَتْأُمُّ حَارِثَةَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنْ كَانَ ابْنِي أَصَابَ الْجَنَّةَ وَإِلَّا أَجْهَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْبُكَاءَ قَالَ يَا أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ إِنَّهَا جِنَانٌ كَثِيرَةٌ فِي جَنَّةٍ وَإِنَّ حَارِثَةَ أَصَابَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ الْأَعْلَى  

ahmad:14016

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Do not bear malice, do not despise one another, do not envy one another, and be servants of Allah as brothers."  

أحمد:١٤٠١٦وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَاللَّفْظِ

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَا تَدَابَرُوا وَلَا تَبَاغَضُوا وَلَا تَحَاسَدُوا وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللهِ إِخْوَانًا  

ahmad:14017

The Prophet ﷺ said: Stand close together in your rows, bring them near one another, and stand neck to neck, for by Him in Whose hand my soul is, I see the devil coming in through openings in the row just like a small black sheep. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 667)   

أحمد:١٤٠١٧

وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ رَاصُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَقَارِبُوا بَيْنَهَا وَحَاذُوا بَيْنَ الْأَعْنَاقِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ خَلَلِ الصَّفِّ كَأَنَّهُ الْحَذَفُ  

ahmad:14018ʿAffān And Bahz > Hammām > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

Verily, Allah does not treat a believer unjustly in regard to his virtues. He would confer upon him (His blessing) in this world and would give him reward in the Hereafter. And as regards a non-believer, he would be made to taste the reward (of virtue in this world) what he has done for himself so much that when it would be the Hereafter, he would find no virtue for which he should be rewarded. (Using translation from Muslim 2808a)   

أحمد:١٤٠١٨حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ الْمُؤْمِنَ حَسَنَةً يُثَابُ عَلَيْهَا الرِّزْقَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَيُجْزَى بِهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ قَالَ وَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَيُطْعَمُ بِحَسَنَاتِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَتَّىإِذَا أَفْضَى إِلَى الْآخِرَةِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ يُعْطَى بِهَا خَيْرًا  

ahmad:14019ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Simāk b. Ḥarb > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent with a letter along with Abu Bakr to the people of Makkah. Then he called him and sent with it Ali. He said, 'Only a man from my family should deliver it.'"  

أحمد:١٤٠١٩حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ بِبَرَاءَةٌ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ قَالَ ثُمَّ دَعَاهُ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ بِهَا عَلِيًّا قَالَ لَا يُبَلِّغُهَا إِلَّا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِي  

ahmad:14020ʿAffān > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Ayyūb > Abū Qilābah > Anas b. Mālik

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The Hour will not begin until the people compete in (building) mosques.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 739)  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٠حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَتَبَاهَى النَّاسُ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ  

ahmad:14021ʿAffān > Nūḥ b. Qays > al-Ashʿath b. Jābirālḥuddānī > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "Your Lord says, 'Whoever takes away the womenfolk of a nobleman and then shows patience and seeks reward, his reward shall be Paradise."  

أحمد:١٤٠٢١حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ جَابِرٍالْحُدَّانِيُّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ ﷻ مَنْ أَذْهَبْتُ كَرِيمَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ صَبَرَ وَاحْتَسَبَ كَانَ ثَوَابُهُ الْجَنَّةَ  

ahmad:14022ʿAffān > ʿAbd al-Wārith > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Ṣuhayb > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] There was a curtain for Aisha that she had put up on the side of her house. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Remove this curtain from me, as its images continue to distract me during my prayers."  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٢حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ قِرَامٌ لِعَائِشَةَ قَدْ سَتَرَتْ بِهِ جَانِبَ بَيْتِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمِيطِي قِرَامَكِ هَذَا عَنِّي فَإِنَّهُ لَا تَزَالُ تَصَاوِيرُهُ تَعْرِضُ لِي فِي صَلَاتِي  

ahmad:14023ʿAffān > Khalaf b. Khalīfah > Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmaraʿan Anas b. Mālik

The Prophet [SAW] used to say these supplications: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa'u, wa qalbin la yakhsha'u, wa du'a'in la yasma'u, wa nafsin la tashba'u. (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge that is of no benefit, a heart that is not humble, a supplication that is not heard and a soul that is not satisfied.)" Then he would say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min ha'ula'il-arba' (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from these four.)'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5470)   

أحمد:١٤٠٢٣حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ وَدُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ وَنَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْأَرْبَعِ  

ahmad:14024ʿAffān > Muḥammad b. Dīnār > Yaḥyá b. Yazīd > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about a man who had a woman under his authority and divorced her three times. She then married another man, but he divorced her before consummating the marriage. Is it permissible for her to go back to her first husband? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "No, until the second husband has tasted her and she has tasted him."  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ تَحْتَهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَطَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَتَزَوَّجَتْ بَعْدَهُ رَجُلًا فَطَلَّقَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا أَتَحِلُّ لِزَوْجِهَا الْأَوَّلِ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْآخَرُ قَدْ ذَاقَ مِنْ عُسَيْلَتِهَا وَذَاقَتْ مِنْ عُسَيْلَتِهِ  

ahmad:14025ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > Jaʿfar b. Maʿbad > Dhahabt > Anas b. Mālik > And Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Anas

[Machine] When we used to pledge allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he would teach us whatever you can.  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٥حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ قَالَ ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَا وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا قَالَ

كُنَّا إِذَا بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُلَقِّنُنَا هُوَ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُم  

ahmad:14026ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > Abū Muʿādh ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Maymūnah Qālasamiʿt Anas

[Machine] I heard Anas saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take me with him when he went out for his personal needs, and one of us would bring a container of water."  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٦حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاذٍ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ

قَالَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ لِحَاجَتِهِ نَجِيءُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مِنَّا بِإِدَاوَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ  

ahmad:14027ʿAlī b. Abū Isrāʾīl > Saʾalt Abū ʿAnh > Shaykh Thiqah > Abū Isḥāq / al-Fazārī > al-Awzāʿī > Isḥāq b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Ṭalḥah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] "My mother sent me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with something, and I saw him standing with the miswak (a teeth-cleaning twig) in his hand, using it to brush his teeth."  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٧حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبِي عَنْهُ فَقَالَ شَيْخٌ ثِقَةٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ يَعْنِي الْفَزَارِيَّ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

بَعَثَتْنِي أُمِّي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَيْءٍ فَرَأَيْتُهُ قَائِمًا فِي يَدِهِ الْمِيسَمُ يَسِمُ الصَّدَقَةَ  

ahmad:14028ʿAffān > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Thābit > Anas

the sister of Ar-Rubai' Umm Harithah injured a person and they referred the dispute to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: "Retaliation, retaliation (Qisas)." Umm Ar-Rabi said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how could retaliation be carried out against so and so? No, by Allah, retaliation willnever be carried out against her!' The Messenger of Allah said: "Subhan Allah, O Umm Ar-Rabi'! decreed by Allah." She said: "No, by Allah, retaliation will never be carried out against her!" And she carried on until they accepted Diyah (blood money). He (the prophet) said: "There are among the slaves of Allah who, if they swear by Allah, Allah fulfills their oath. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4755)  

أحمد:١٤٠٢٨حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ أُخْتَ الرُّبَيِّعِ أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ جَرَحَتْ إِنْسَانًا فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْقِصَاصُ الْقِصَاصُ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الرُّبَيِّعِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُقْتَصُّ مِنْ فُلَانَةَ؟ ‍ لَا وَاللهِ لَا يُقْتَصُّ مِنْهَا أَبَدًا فقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ يَا أُمَّ رُبَيِّعٍ كِتَابُ اللهِ قَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ لَا يُقْتَصُّ مِنْهَا أَبَدًا قَالَ فَمَا زَالَتْ حَتَّى قَبِلُوا مِنْهَا الدِّيَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِاللهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ  

ahmad:14029ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Thābit > Anas

O people, embrace Islam. By Allah, Muhammad donates so much as if he did not fear want. Anas said that the person embraced Islam for the sake of the world but later he became Muslim until Islam became dearer to him than the world and what it contains. (Using translation from Muslim 2312b)   

أحمد:١٤٠٢٩حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَعْطَاهُ غَنَمًا بَيْنَ جَبَلَيْنِ فَأَتَى قَوْمَهُ فَقَالَ أَيْ قَوْمِ أَسْلِمُوا فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا لَيُعْطِي عَطَاءً مَا يَخَافُ الْفَاقَةَ وَإِنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَيَجِيءُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يُرِيدُ إِلَّا الدُّنْيَا فَمَا يُمْسِي حَتَّى يَكُونَ دِينُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ أَوْ أَعَزَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَا فِيهَا  

ahmad:14030ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Thābit And Ḥumayd > Anas b. Mālik

"Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2559)  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٠حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ وَحُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ حُفَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ وَحُفَّتِ النَّارُ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ  

ahmad:14031ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Thābit And Ḥumayd > Anas

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a cemetery of the Bani Najjar tribe, while riding a pale mule. Suddenly, he saw a grave with its inhabitant being punished. The mule stumbled and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not for the fact that you cannot hear the torment of the grave, I would ask Allah to make you hear it."  

أحمد:١٤٠٣١حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ وَحُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِمَقْبَرَةٍ لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ فِي حَائِطٍوَهُوَ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ شَهْبَاءَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِقَبْرٍ يُعَذَّبُ فَحَاصَتِ الْبَغْلَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ لَا تَدَافَنُوا لَسَأَلْتُ اللهَ أَنْ يُسْمِعَكُمْ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ  

ahmad:14032ʿAffān And Bahz > Hammām > Qatādah > Anas

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ called Ubayy and said, "Verily, Allah has commanded me to recite to you." Ubayy asked, "Did Allah name me specifically?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, Allah named you for me." Then Ubayy began to cry.  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٢حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَعَا أُبَيًّا فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ سَمَّانِي لَكَ؟ قَالَ اللهُ سَمَّاكَ لِي فَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي  

ahmad:14033ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Thābit > Anas

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no soul that is martyred for the sake of Allah, and when it dies it wishes to return to the world except the martyr, for he wishes to return to the world and be killed again due to the great reward he sees in martyrdom."  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٣حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ تَمُوتُ لَهَا عِنْدَ اللهِ خَيْرٌ يَسُرُّهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا الشَّهِيدَ فَإِنَّهُ يَسُرُّهُ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا فَيُقْتَلَ لِمَا يَرَى مِنْ فَضْلِ الشَّهَادَةِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray towards Bait-ul-Maqdis, that it was revealed (to him):" Indeed We see the turning of the face to heaven, wherefore We shall assuredly cause thee to turn towards Qibla which shall please thee. So turn thy face towards the sacred Mosque (Ka'ba)" (ii. 144). A person from Banu Salama was going; (he found the people) in ruk'u (while) praying the dawn prayer and they had said one rak'ah. He said in a loud voice: Listen! the Qibla has been changed and they turned towards (the new) Qibla (Ka'ba) in that very state. (Using translation from Muslim 527)  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي نَحْوَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَنَزَلَتْ {قَدْ نَرَى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضَاهَا فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ} [البقرة 144] فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَلَمَةَ وَهُمْ رُكُوعٌ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَقَدْ صَلَّوْا رَكْعَةً فَنَادَى أَلَا إِنَّ الْقِبْلَةَ قَدْ حُوِّلَتْ أَلَا إِنَّ الْقِبْلَةَ قَدْ حُوِّلَتْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ قَالَ فَمَالُوا كَمَا هُمْ نَحْوَ الْقِبْلَةِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, the people of Jannah will have a market that they attend every Friday, in which there are heaps of musk. When they go to it, the wind blows and scatters musk upon their faces, clothes, and homes. They then increase in beauty and attractiveness. They come to their families and say, 'You have certainly become more beautiful and attractive after us.' Their families will say to them, 'And you have certainly become more beautiful and attractive after us.'"  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٥حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ لِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ سُوقًا يَأْتُونَهَا كُلَّ جُمُعَةٍ فِيهَا كُثْبَانُ الْمِسْكِ فَإِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَيْهَا هَبَّتِ الرِّيحُ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ أَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ شَمَالِيٌّ قَالَ فَتَمْلَأُ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَثِيَابَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ مِسْكًا فَيَزْدَادُونَ حُسْنًا وَجَمَالًا قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ أَهْلِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُونَ لَقَدِ ازْدَدْتُمْ بَعْدَنَا حُسْنًا وَجَمَالًا وَيَقُولُونَ لَهُنَّ وَأَنْتُمْ قَدِ ازْدَدْتُمْ بَعْدَنَا حُسْنًا وَجَمَالًا

When the āyah 'You will never attain righteousness until you give freely from what you love' (Āl ʿImran 3:92) came down, Abū Ṭalḥah said Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I think our Lord asks us for our wealth and I call you as witness that I dedicate my land at Bayruhāʾ for Allah ﷻ. He said, "Dedicate it among your nearest relatives." So he divided it among Hassān b. Thābit and Ubayy b. Kaʿb.  

ʿAffān said: and Yazīd said; from Ḥumayd; from Anas: Barīḥā, and ʿAffān said: I asked about it from more than one person of the people of Medina and they claim that is it Bayru¯hāʾ and that Barīḥā is not valid.
أحمد:١٤٠٣٦حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ} [آل عمران 92] قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَى رَبَّنَا يَسْأَلُنَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا وَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ جَعَلْتُ أَرْضِي بَيْرُحَاءَ لِلَّهِ ﷻ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اجْعَلْهَا فِي قَرَابَتِكَ فَقَسَمَهَا بَيْنَ حَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ عَفَّانُ وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ بَرِيحَا وقَالَعَفَّانُ سَأَلْتُ عَنْهَا غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَزَعَمُوا أَنَّهَا بَيْرُحَاءُ وَأَنَّ بَرِيحًا لَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ  

قَالَ عَفَّانُ: وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ بَرِيحَا وقَالَ عَفَّانُ: سَأَلْتُ عَنْهَا غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَزَعَمُوا أَنَّهَا بَيْرُحَاءُ وَأَنَّ بَرِيحًا لَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ۔

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'In this world, women and perfume have been made dear to me, and my comfort has been provided in prayer.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3939)  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٧حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا النِّسَاءُ وَالطِّيبُ وَجُعِلَتْ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ  

ahmad:14038ʿAffān > Abū ʿAwānah > al-Jaʿd Abū ʿUthmān > Anas

The Prophet ﷺ said: There is no ghoul. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3913)   

أحمد:١٤٠٣٨حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْجَعْدِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُ يَا بُنَيَّ  

ahmad:14039ʿAffān > Saʿīd b. Yazīd > ʿAlī b. Zaydqāl > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Zaid said, "I heard Anas ibn Malik say, 'I know of sins today that are more trivial in your eyes than a strand of hair. We used to consider them major sins during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .'"  

أحمد:١٤٠٣٩حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ

زَيْدٍقَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ الْيَوْمَ ذُنُوبًا هِيَ أَدَقُّ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ مِنَ الشَّعْرِ كُنَّا نَعُدُّهَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pass by the door of Fatimah for six months when he went out to perform the Fajr prayer. He would say, "O people of the household, prayer. Indeed, Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the household, and to purify you with purification." [Surah Al-Ahzab 33].  

أحمد:١٤٠٤٠حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِبَابِ فَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ يَقُولُ الصَّلَاةُ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ {إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا} [الأحزاب 33]
