Thabit ibn 'Ubayd said, "I have not seen anyone more serious when he sits with the people nor more jovial in his house than Zayd ibn Thabit."  

الأدب المفرد:٢٨٦حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ قَالَ

حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَجَلَّ إِذَا جَلَسَ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ وَلاَ أَفْكَهَ فِي بَيْتِهِ مِنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ
