Uthman prayed four rak'ahs (at Mina) for he made it his home (for settlement).  

أبو داود:١٩٦٢ – حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا

لأَنَّهُ اتَّخَذَهَا وَطَنًا
