(From the daughter of Khalid bin Sa id bin Al-ʿAsi) who said that she had heard the Prophet ﷺ seeking refuge with Allah from the punishment in the grave.

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

I heard the Prophet ﷺ seeking refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.

سَمِعَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ غَيْرَهَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

Abu Huraira reported. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking refuge from the torment of the grave after this (after the revelation).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

Never did he (the Holy Prophet) say prayer after this in which I did not hear him seeking refuge from the torment of the grave.

وَمَا صَلَّى صَلاَةً بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلاَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah after that seeking refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to say: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi, wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-harami, 'adhabil-qabr wa fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and miserliness and old age, and the torment of the grave, and the trials of life and death.)" أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

" O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from incapacity, from indolence, from cowardice, from senility, from miserliness, and I seek refuge in Thee from the torment of the grave and from trial of the life and death." (Using translation from Muslim 2706a)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَفِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the torment of the grave."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

"We were with Fadalah bin 'Ubaid in the land of the Romans, and a companion of ours died. Fadalah ordered that his grave be made level, then he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah commanding that it be made level."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2030)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِتَسْوِيَةِ الْقُبُورِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ seek refuge from the torment of the grave."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ غَيْرَهَا تَقُولُ سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the punishment of the grave."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah after that seeking refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2061)

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

[AI] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek refuge in Allah from the torment of the grave, and I have not heard anyone else say, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say anything different from that.'"

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسْتَعِيذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ» وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَيْرَهَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the punishment of the grave.'

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ فتنة الصدر

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from poverty and the punishment of the grave, and the trials of life and death.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَمَاتِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Meet the sandals."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «قَابِلُوا النِّعَالَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking refuge from the torment of the grave.

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, for the punishment of the grave is true." Musa ibn Uqbah said, "I have never heard anyone say, 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ except Umm Khalid.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اسْتَجِيرُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ فَإِنَّ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ حَقٌّ» قَالَ مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِلَّا أُمَّ خَالِدٍ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek refuge from the punishment of the grave.

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنِ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

«سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يَسْتَعِيذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»

[AI] "O Allah, protect him from the punishment of the grave."

اللهُمَّ أَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

"عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَدْعُو في دُبُرِ الصَّلَاةِ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالَفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ".

"عَنْ أُمِّ خَالِدٍ بِنْتِ خَالِدٍ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَدِيثًا وَهُوَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ".
