28. Chapter of Alif-Lām (Male)

٢٨۔ بَابُ اللَّامِ أَلِفٍ

28.9 [Machine] Abu Umamah Al-Sha'ban, from Abu Tha'laba

٢٨۔٩ أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ الشَّعْبَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ

tabarani:18881[Chain 1] Ṭālib b. Qurrah al-Adanī > Muḥammad b. ʿĪsá al-Ṭabbāʿ [Chain 2] ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Saʿīd b. Yaʿqūb al-Ṭālqānī > Ibn al-Mubārak > ʿUtbah b. Abū Ḥakīm > ʿAmr b. a neighboriyah al-Lakhmī > Abū Umayyah al-Shaʿbānī

[Machine] I went to Abu Tha'labah Al-Khushani and said, "O Abu Tha'labah, how do you interpret this verse?" He asked, "Which verse are you referring to?" I replied, "His saying, 'O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided'." He said, "By Allah, you have asked about something knowledgeable. I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it and he said, 'Rather, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And when you see greed being obeyed, desires being followed, worldly gains being preferred, and everyone is pleased with their own opinion, then you should focus on yourself in particular and ignore the common people's affairs. For behind you, there will come days of patience, where the patient one will be like the one holding onto burning coals. In that time, the reward of fifty men will be obtained by the worker.'" And without a doubt, 'Utbah ibn Abu Hakim increased me (i.e., added another narration). It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, will the reward of fifty men be for us or for them?" He replied, "No, rather the reward of fifty men will be for you."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the most beloved among you to me, and the closest to me in the Hereafter are those with the best manners. And indeed, the most hated among you to me, and the furthest from me in the Hereafter are the talkative, boastful and arrogant ones."

Do not delve into matters that Allah has left unspecified

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has decreed obligations, so do not neglect them; He has forbidden certain things, so do not violate them; He has set limits, so do not transgress them; and He has left some matters unspecified ˹intentionally˺, so do not delve into them.

that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah ˹audits˺ his servants during the night of the middle of ˹month of ˺ Shaʿbān then forgives the Believers and ˹purposefully˺ overlooks the disbelievers and leaves the people of hate in their hatefulness until they let go of it."
