Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to sleep after having sexual intercourse, he performed ablution as for the prayer before going to sleep.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ

Abdullah ibn AbuBakr reported that he heard Urwah say: I entered upon Marwan ibn al-Hakam. We mentioned things that render the ablution void. Marwan said: Does it become void by touching the penis? Urwah replied: This I do not know. Marwan said: Busrah daughter of Safwan reported to me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: He who touches his penis should perform ablution.

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ

"The Prophet permitted the Junub when he wanted to eat, drink, or sleep, to perform Wudu like the Wudu for Salat."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَخَّصَ لِلْجُنُبِ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ أَوْ يَنَامَ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ

"If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to sleep while he was Junub, he would perform Wudu' as for prayer before sleeping."

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ

"When the Messenger of Allah wanted to sleep and he was sexually impure, he would perform ablution as for prayer."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ

"The Prophet was asked about whether a person who is sexually impure can sleep, or eat, or drink. He said: 'yes, if he does ablution as for the prayer.'"

سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنِ الْجُنُبِ هَلْ يَنَامُ أَوْ يَأْكُلُ أَوْ يَشْرَبُ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ

[AI] I asked Aisha, "How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ act when he wanted to sleep while in a state of sexual impurity?" She said, "He would perform ablution as he does for prayer, then he would sleep."

سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يَنَامُ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَنَامُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

"When the Messenger of Allah wanted to sleep and he was sexually impure, he would perform ablution as for prayer." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 584)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَكَلَ

[AI] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to sleep, he would perform ablution for prayer, then he would sleep.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْقُدَ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يَرْقُدُ

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

It was narrated from 'Aishah that if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to sleep while he was Junub, he would perform Wudu', and if he wanted to eat he would wash his hands. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 256)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ أَكَلَ وَشَرِبَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever touches his private part, let him perform Wudu'.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 444)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيُعِدِ الْوُضُوءَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution (wudu) for prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

"If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to sleep while he was Junub, he would perform Wudu' as for prayer before sleeping." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 258)

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا»

قالت كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا أراد أن ينام أو يأكل وهو جنب توضأ وضوءه للصلاة

Can one of us sleep if he is junub? He said: ʿYes, if he does wudoo’ as for prayer.ʿ It was narrated from Ibn ʿUmar that ʿUmar asked the Prophet ﷺ... a similar hadeeth. (Using translation from Aḥmad 235)

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if a person in a state of janabah can sleep? He said, "He should perform ablution for prayer."

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ الْجُنُبِ يَنَامُ؟ قَالَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Whoever touches his private part, let him perform ablution."

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you touches his penis, let him perform ablution.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 479)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever touches his private parts or his genitals or his buttocks, then he should perform ablution for prayer."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ رُفْغَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution for prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches their private parts or their anus or their reproductive organs, should not pray until they perform ablution."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ رُفْغَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts must perform ablution." Urwah said, "So I asked Busrah, and she confirmed it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَسَأَلْتُ بُسْرَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْهُ

[AI] "To sleep, eat, drink, or perform ablution for prayer."

أَنْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)

[AI] "To sleep, to eat, to drink, to perform ablution for prayer."

أَنْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] "To eat, sleep, or drink while in a state of impurity, one should perform ablution (wudu) for the purpose of prayer."

أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] To eat, sleep, or drink while being in a state of major ritual impurity, one must perform ablution for the prayer.

أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] If he wants to sleep or eat, then he should perform ablution, his ablution being for prayer.

أَنْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَطْعَمَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)

"إذَا أراد أحدُكم أن ينامَ وهو جُنُبٌ فليتوضأ وضوءَه للصّلاةِ".
