That his father (Hazn bin Wahb) went to the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ asked (him), "What is your name?" He replied, "My name is Hazn." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You are Sahl." Hazn said, "I will not change the name with which my father has named me." Ibn Al-Musaiyab added: We have had roughness (in character) ever since. Narrated Al-Musaiyab: on the authority of his father similarly as above (i.e., 209).
That when his grandfather, Hazn visited the Prophet ﷺ the Prophet ﷺ said (to him), "What is your name?" He said, "My name is Hazn." The Prophet ﷺ said, " But you are Sahl." He said, "I will not change my name with which my father named me." Ibn Al-Musaiyab added: So we have had roughness (in character) ever since.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to his great-grandfather Sa'id, "What is your name?" He replied, "Hazn (Sadness)." The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, you are Sa'il (Easy/Facile)." He said, "I do not change a name that my father has given me." Ibn Al-Musayyib said, "So, there remained a sadness among us thereafter."
[Machine] The Prophet PBUH said to his grandfather, "What is your name?" He replied, "Huzn" (meaning sorrow). The Prophet PBUH said, "No, you are Sahl" (meaning ease). He said, "I do not change a name my father gave me." Sa'id said, "So he remained sad among us afterwards."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked his grandfather, "What is your name?" His grandfather replied, "Huzn (Sadness)". The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, you are Sahl (Easy)". He said, "I do not change a name that my father named me." So, that sadness remained within us afterward.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, "What is your name?" I replied, "Hazn." He said, "No, you are Sahal" (meaning "easy" or "smooth"). He said, "I do not change a name that a person's father has given him." Ibn Musayyib said, "So, that sadness disappeared from me afterwards."
