The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you prays facing a sutrah he should keep close to it, and not let the devil interrupt his prayer. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Waqid b. Muhammad from Safwan from Muhammad b. Sahl on the authority of his father, or on the authority of Muhammad b. Sahl from the Prophet ﷺ. Some have narrated it from Nafi' b. Jubair on the authority of Sahl b. Sa'd. There is a variation in the chain of its narrators.

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا لاَ يَقْطَعُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَتَهُ

When one of you prays, he should pray facing the sutrah (screen or covering) and he should keep himself close to it. He then narrated the tradition to the same effect.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ وَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ سَاقَ مَعْنَاهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you inflicts a beating, he should avoid striking the face.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا ضَرَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَّقِ الْوَجْهَ

"When anyone of you prays toward a Sutra, let him get close to it and not allow the Shaitan to sever his prayer for him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا لاَ يَقْطَعُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَتَهُ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you performs prayer, let him pray facing towards a Sutrah, and let him get close to it, and not let anyone pass in front of him. If someone comes and wants to pass in front of him, let him fight him, for he is a Shaitan (satan).’”

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ وَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا وَلاَ يَدَعْ أَحَدًا يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَإِنْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ يَمُرَّ فَلْيُقَاتِلْهُ فَإِنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ

[AI] The translation of the passage into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When one of you prays, he should mention its meaning.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

When anyone wipes himself with pebbles (after answering the call of nature) he should do this odd number of times. (Using translation from Muslim 239)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُوتِرْ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When anyone of you prostrates let him be balanced in prostration, and not spread his arms as a dog does.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 891)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَفْتَرِشْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ افْتِرَاشَ الْكَلْبِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him cover himself for his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ لِصَلَاتِهِ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The covering of a man during prayer is like an arrow, so when any one of you prays, let him cover himself with an arrow."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُتْرَةُ الرَّجُلِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ السَّهْمُ وَإِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ بِسَهْمٍ

"When anyone of you prays toward a Sutra, let him get close to it and not allow the Shaitan to sever his prayer for him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 748)

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا مَا لَا يَقْطَعُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَيْهِ صَلَاتَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should neglect his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَيَسْتُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ صَلَاتَهُ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ»

[AI] Regarding the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "When one of you prays, let them wear an izar and cover their shoulders."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَّزِرْ وَلْيَرْتَدِ»

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you performs prayer, let him pray facing towards a Sutrah, and let him get close to it, and not let anyone pass in front of him. If someone comes and wants to pass in front of him, let him fight him, for he is a Shaitan (satan).’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 954)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا وَلَا يَدَعْ أَحَدًا يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ»

"When anyone of you prays toward a Sutra, let him get close to it and not allow the Shaitan to sever his prayer for him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 748)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا وَلَا يَدَعْ أَحَدًا يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When any one of you prays Jumu'ah let him pray four (rak'ahs) after that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1426)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيُصَلِّ بَعْدَهَا أَرْبَعًا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays at a curtain, let him spit on the side so that the devil does not pass between him and it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا لَا يَمُرُّ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا»

"When anyone of you prays toward a Sutra, let him get close to it and not allow the Shaitan to sever his prayer for him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 748)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "One of you should cover himself during his prayer, even with an arrow."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِيَسْتَتِرْ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let one of you cover himself during his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لِيَسْتَتِرْ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any one of you doubts his prayer, then he should strive to do what is right and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّوَابَ وَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

that the Messenger of Allah said: “When anyone of you has intercourse with his wife, let him cover himself and not be naked liked donkeys.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1921)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمْ أَهْلَهُ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ وَلَا يَتَجَرَّدَانِ تَجَارُدَ الْعَيْرَيْنِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you stands up for prayer, he should not close his eyes."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا يَغْمِضْ عَيْنَيْهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Let one of you pray in his own mosque and not go around looking for other mosques."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِيُصَلِّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِهِ وَلَا يَتَتَبَّعِ الْمَسَاجِدَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you performs the Friday prayer, he should not pray anything afterwards until he speaks or goes out."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلَا يُصَلِّي بَعْدَهَا شَيْئًا حَتَّى يَتَكَلَّمَ أَوْ يَخْرُجَ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said for one of you to conceal his prayer, even if it is with an arrow.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِيَسْتُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ صَلَاتَهُ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ

[AI] "From the Prophet, ﷺ , he said: When one of you finishes praying, let him perform Tasleem (saying Salaam) because Satan disrupts his prayer. Al-Sheikh said that this was narrated by Dawud ibn Qays from Nafi' ibn Jubayr as a Marfoo' Hadith."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى شَيْءٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهُ لَا يَقْطَعِ الشَّيْطَانُ صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَرَوَاهُ دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ مُرْسَلًا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him pray towards a barrier and let him stand close to his barrier, for indeed, the Shaytan passes between him and it." The Shaykh said, "The chain of narrators has been established by Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, who is a reliable authority."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ وَلْيَدْنُ مِنْ سُتَرْتِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا قَالَ الشَّيْخُ قَدْ أَقَامَ إِسْنَادَهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ وَهُوَ حَافِظٌ حُجَّةٌ

"إِذا صلى إحدُكُمْ فَليُصلِّ إِلى سُتْرة ولْيَدْنُ مِنْ سُتْرته، لا يقْطعُ الشيطانُ عليه صلاته" .

"إذا صلّى إحدُكُمْ إلى سُتْرةٍ فليَدْنُ منها لا يَمَرُّ الشَّيطانُ بينه وبينها".

"إِذا صلّى أحدُكُمْ فليُصلِّ إلى سُتْرة ولْيدْنُ منْها فإنَّ الشَّيطانَ يَمُرُّ بَينَه وبَينها".

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you performs prayer, let him pray facing towards a Sutrah, and let him get close to it, and not let anyone pass in front of him. "إذا صلَّى أحدُكم فليُصلِّ إلى سُترةٍ ولْيَدْنُ منها، ولا يدعْ أحدًا يمرُّ بين يديه فإِنْ جاء أحدٌ يمرُ فليقاتلْه فإِنّه شيطانٌ" .

"إذَا صلّى أحدُكم فَلْيأتَزِرْ ولْيَرْتَدِ".

"لِيَسْتَتِر أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلاتِهِ وَلوْ بسَهمٍ".

"عن عمر قال: إذا صَلَّى أحدُكم فليصل إلى سُتْرةٍ، لا يحولُ الشيطانُ بينهُ وبين صَلاتِه".
