The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days every month.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ يَعْنِي مِنْ غُرَّةِ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ

The Messenger of Allah said: "The most virtuous fast is the fast of my brother Dawud. He would fast a day, and not fast (the next) day. He would not flee at the time of engagement (with the enemy)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَفْضَلُ الصَّوْمِ صَوْمُ أَخِي دَاوُدَ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا وَلاَ يَفِرُّ إِذَا لاَقَى

"The Messenger of Allah said: "The best of fasting is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him. He used to fast for one day and break his fast for one day."' 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ صِيَامُ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا

" I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The month of patience ( Ramadan) and three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime."' (Sahih).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ شَهْرُ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever fasts three days of each month has fasted the month in full' or 'will have (the reward of) fasting the month."' 'Asim was in doubt.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَامَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ فَقَدْ تَمَّ صَوْمُ الشَّهْرِ أَوْ فَلَهُ صَوْمُ الشَّهْرِ شَكَّ عَاصِمٌ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'It is a good fast to fast three days of each month".

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ

"I heard Ibn 'Umar say" "The Prophet used to fast three days of each month.

سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَصُومُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ

[AI] Regarding the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Fasting on the white days is equivalent to fasting the entire year, and breaking the fast on these days is also rewarding."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صِيَامُ الْبِيضِ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Indeed, one of the best types of fasting is the fasting of my brother Dawud. He used to fast one day and break his fast on the next."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ الصِّيَامِ صِيَامَ أَخِي دَاوُدَ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًاوَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا

The Messenger of Allah said: "The most virtuous fast is the fast of my brother Dawud. He would fast a day, and not fast (the next) day. He would not flee at the time of engagement (with the enemy)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 770)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَفْضَلُ الصَّوْمِ صَوْمُ أَخِي دَاوُدَ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا وَلَا يَفِرُّ إِذَا لَاقَى

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Fasting the month of patience and three days of every month is fasting for a lifetime.”

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صَوْمُ شَهْرِ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ said about fasting for three days of the month, "Fasting these three days is equivalent to fasting the whole year, and breaking the fast of these days is also beneficial."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي صِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Fasting three days of every month is fasting for a lifetime, and their sunset is the breaking of the fast."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet, ﷺ , he said about fasting for three days every month: "The fast of three days from every month is equivalent to fasting for the whole year, and the reward of breaking the fast."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي صِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'It is a good fast to fast three days of each month". (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2411)

وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'It is a good fast to fast three days of each month". (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2411)

وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting for three days every month is fasting for the entire lifetime, and its reward is equivalent to that of fasting the whole year, and the reward of its breaking the fast."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said about fasting three days of the month, it is like fasting for a lifetime and its breaking of fast.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي صِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever fasts three days of every month has fasted the entire year."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ صَامَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ فَقَدْ صَامَ الدَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ

" I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The month of patience ( Ramadan) and three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime."' (Sahih). (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2408)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ صَوْمُ شَهْرِ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ يُذْهِبْنَ وَحَرَ الصَّدْرِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days every month. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2450)

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَصُومُ مِنْ غُرَّةِ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ»

"The Messenger of Allah used to fast three days in the middle of every month, and he rarely did not fast on Friday." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2368)

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ مِنْ غُرَّةِ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَقَلَّمَا يُفْطِرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ»

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ said: "Fasting three days in every month is the fasting of a lifetime and its regular observance."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَقِيَامُهُ»

[AI] From his father, the Prophet ﷺ wiped his head and said, "The fasting of three days each month is equivalent to fasting the entire year and its (rewarded) breaking of the fast."

عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ صُمْ وَأَفْطِرْ وَنَمْ وَقُمْ صُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ صُمْ يَوْمًا وَأَفْطِرْ يَوْمًا صُمْ صَوْمَ دَاوُدَ

قَالَ أَوْصَانِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ بسبحة الضحى وصوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر والنوم على الوتر

"Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and the shining days of Al-Bid, the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2420)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ أَيَّامُ الْبِيضِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَأَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ وَخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ»

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about fasting, and he said, "Fast three days every month." I said, "I am able to do more than that." Then he said, "Fast three days every month." I said, "I am able to do more than that." Then he said, "Fast as the fasting of Prophet David: fast one day and break fast one day."

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ فَقَالَ «صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ حَتَّى نَازَلَنِي ثُمَّ قَالَ «صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ حَتَّى نَازَلَنِي ثُمَّ قَالَ «صُمْ صِيَامَ دَاوُدَ صُمْ يَوْمًا وَأَفْطِرْ يَوْمًا»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "The fasting is good. The fasting of three days each month is (equivalent to) continuous fasting."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ»

[AI] And he said, "Fasting for three days every month."

وَقَالَ «صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ»

[AI] "Fasting for three days every month relieves the heat of the chest."

«صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ يُذْهِبْنَ وَحَرَ الصَّدْرِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting for the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth of every month is fasting for a lifetime, along with its reward for breaking the fast."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَأَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ وَخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting the white days is fasting for a lifetime, and its iftar (breaking the fast) is blessed."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صِيَامُ الْبِيضِ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِفْطَارُهُ»

[AI] I asked the Prophet ﷺ about fasting. He said, "Fast one day of the month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have the ability to do more." He said, "Fast two days of the month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, increase me." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Increase me, increase me. Fast three days of every month."

سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ؟ فَقَالَ «صُمْ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ يَوْمًا» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَقْوَى قَالَ «صُمْ يَوْمَيْنِ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ زِدْنِي قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «زِدْنِي زِدْنِي صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ»

[AI] The translation of the passage into English is: "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days every month, on Mondays and Thursdays."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يَصُومُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِثْنَيْنَ وَخَمِيسَ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: "The best of fasting is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him. He used to fast for one day and break his fast for one day."' "أفْضَلُ الصوم: صومُ أخي داود، كان يَصُومُ يومًا، ويُفطرُ يومًا".

"إِنَّ مِنْ أَفضلِ الصِّيامَ صيَامَ أَخى داودَ، كان يصومُ يومًا ويُفْطرُ يَوْمًا ".

"الأَيَّامُ البيضُ ثَلاثةُ أَيام من كل شهر" .

"ثلَاثٌ من كُلِّ شَهْر، ورَمضَانُ إِلى رمَضَان؛ فَهدا صِيامُ الدَّهْر كُلِّه".

"شَهْرُ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ (صَومُ الدَّهْرِ) ".

"صُمْ؛ أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَام: صِيَام دَاوُدَ؛ صَوْمُ يَوْم وَفِطرُ يَوْمٍ".

"صَوْمُ ثَلاثَةِ أَيام مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْر، ورَمَضَانَ إِلى رَمضَانَ: صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ وإِفْطَارُه".

"منْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُذْهِب كَثِيرًا من وَحَر الصَّدْر، فَلْيَصُم شَهر الصَّبْرِ وثَلاثَةَ أَيَّام مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ".

"مَنْ صَامَ ثَلاثةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، فَقَدْ صَامَ الدَّهرَ كلَّهُ".

"مَنْ صَامَ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، فَقَدْ صَامَ الشَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ".

"مَنْ صَامَ الدَهْرَ مَا صَامَ وَمَا أَفْطَرَ".

"عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ: صِيَامُ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ".
