His father said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer, and he would recite in the first two rak'ahs and make us hear some verses. And he would make the (first) Rak'ah lengthy in Zuhr, and also the first rak'ah." Meaning in Subh. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 974)  

الكبرى للنسائي:١٠٤٨أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ دُرُسْتَ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَأَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بَصْرِيٌّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي بِنَا الظُّهْرَ فَيَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ يُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ كَذَلِكَ وَكَانَ يُطِيلُ الرَّكْعَةَ فِي صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَالرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى يَعْنِي فِي صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer and recited in the first two rak'ahs of the noon and afternoon prayers Surat al-Fitiha and two (other) surahs. And he would sometimes recite loud enough for us the verses. He would prolong the first rak'ah more than the second. And he acted similarly in the morning prayer.

The apostle of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer and recite in the first two rak’ahs of the noon prayers Fatihat al-kitab and two surahs, and he would sometimes recite loud enough for us to hear the verse. He would prolong the first rak’ah of the noon prayer and shorten the second; and he did so in the morning prayer. Abu Dawud said: Musaddad did not mention the words fatihat al-kitab and surah.
