(the wife of the Prophet ﷺ I used to scent Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he wanted to assume Ihram and also on finishing Ihram before the Tawaf round the Kaʿba (Tawaf-al-ifada).

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ حِينَ يُحْرِمُ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

I heard my father who was the best man of his age, saying, "I heard ʿAisha saying, 'I perfumed Allah's Apostle with my own hands before finishing his Ihram while yet he has not performed Tawaf-al- Ifada.' She spread her hands (while saying so.)"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ وَكَانَ أَفْضَلَ أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ تَقُولُ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدَىَّ هَاتَيْنِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ حِينَ أَحَلَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ وَبَسَطَتْ يَدَيْهَا

I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my own hand before he entered upon the state of Ihram, and as he concluded it before circumambulating the House (for Tawaf-i-lfada).

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدِي لِحُرْمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ حِينَ أَحَلَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

I used to apply perfume to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before his entering upon the state of Ihram and at the conclusion of it, before circumambulating the House (for Tawaf Ifada).

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he became free from Ihram and as he entered upon it.

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِحِلِّهِ وَلِحِرْمِهِ

I applied the best available perfume I could find to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before he entered upon the state of Ihram and after he was free from it.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِحُرْمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفِيضَ بِأَطْيَبِ مَا وَجَدْتُ

I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a perfume containing musk before entering upon the state of Ihram and on the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja) and (at the conclusion of Ihram) before circumambulating the House (for Tawaf-i-Ifada).

كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَيَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ بِطِيبٍ فِيهِ مِسْكٌ

ʿA’ishah said ; I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) preparatory to his entering the sacred state before he put on Ihram, and preparatory to putting off Ihram before he made the circuits round the House (the Ka’bah).

كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلإِحْلاَلِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

"I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah when he decided to enter Ihram, and when he exited Ihram, before he exited Ihram, with my own hand. ''

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ إِحْرَامِهِ حِينَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَعِنْدَ إِحْلاَلِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحِلَّ بِيَدَىَّ

"I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah for his Ihram when he entered Ihram, and for his exiting Ihram when he had stoned Jamrat Al-Aqabah, before he circumambulated the House.''

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

"I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah for his Ihram before he entered Ihram, and for his exiting Ihram when he exited Ihram.''

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ حِينَ أَحَلَّ

"I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah for his Ihram when he entered Ihram, and for his exiting Ihram when he had stoned Jamrat Al-Aqabah, before he circumambulated the House.''

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِحُرْمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ بَعْدَ مَا رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

"'Aishah said: 'I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before he entered Ihram and on the Day of Sacrifice before he circumambulated the House, using perfume containing musk."'

عَائِشَةُ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَيَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ بِطِيبٍ فِيهِ مِسْكٌ

“I put perfume on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his Ihram before he entered into it, and when he exited Ihram before he returned.”*

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفِيضَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ بِيَدَىَّ هَاتَيْنِ

[AI] I heard Aisha say, "I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I perfumed myself in Mina before he overflowed."

سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ «طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِحُرْمِهِ وَطَيَّبْتُهُ بِمِنًى قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفِيضَ»

[AI] I heard Aisha say, "I perfumed the Prophet of Allah ﷺ with these two hands of mine when he entered ihram (the state of consecration for Hajj pilgrimage), and I also perfumed him before he began the tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba)."

سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ لِحُرْمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ

كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِأَطْيَبِ مَا أَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ ثُمَّ يُحْرِمُ

[AI] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ applying perfume before assuming the state of ihram, and on the day of sacrifice before performing the Tawaf around the Kaaba."

طَيَّبْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِطِيبٍ فِيهِ مِسْكٌ عِنْدَ إِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَيَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِحُرْمِهِ حِينَيُحْرِمُ وَلِحِلِّهِ حِينَ يُحِلُّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

[AI] Aisha purified the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for ihram and when he was in the state of ihram, and she purified him when he made it lawful before he circumambulated the Kaaba or went on pilgrimage to the house.

عَائِشَةُ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِحِلِّهِ وَحُرْمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ حِينَ أَحَلَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفِيضَ أَوْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

[AI] "Aisha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , made it permissible and forbidden."

عَائِشَةُ طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِحِلِّهِ وَلِحُرْمِهِ

[AI] She said, "I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he enters the state of ihram and when he exits it."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ يُحْرِمُ وَحِينَ يَحِلُّ

I applied perfume to the Prophet ﷺ with my own hands when he wanted to assume the state of Ihram, and I also perfumed him at Mina before he departed from there (to perform Tawaf-al-Ifada). (Using translation from Bukhārī 5922)

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدَيَّ لِحُرْمِهِ وَطَيَّبْتُهُ بِمِنًى قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفِيضَ

During Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ, I perfumed Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Dharira with my own hands, both on his assuming Ihram and on finishing it. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5930)

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدَيَّ بِذَرِيرَةٍ لِحَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ لِلْحِلِّ وَالْإِحْرَامِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَحِينَ رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim from his father that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his ihram before he entered ihram, and when he came out of ihram before he did tawaf of the House."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

[AI] I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his ihram before he entered the state of ihram, and to shampoo his hair before he performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah.

كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِإِحْرَامِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحْرِمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

[AI] I presented to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , with my own hands these two items for his pilgrimage, when he entered the state of ihram for it, and for him to put them on before circumambulating the Kaaba.

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِيَّ هَاتَيْنِ لِحَرَمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ

[AI] I performed Tayammum for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my own hands using these two blessed hands of mine, when he was in a state of Ihram and also when he broke the state of Ihram, before he performed Tawaf around the Kaaba. Al-Humaydi added in his narration, "It was said to Sufyan, 'Did you hear this from Az-Zuhri?' He replied, 'Yes.'"

طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِيَّ هَاتَيْنِ لِحَرَمِهِ حِينَ أَحْرَمَ وَلِحِلِّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ زَادَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ فَقِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[AI] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would perfume himself when entering Ihram and would put on fragrance when exiting it before circumambulating the Kaaba."
