The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give the Fara'id (the shares of the inheritance that are prescribed in the Qur'an) to those who are entitled to receive it. Then whatever remains, should be given to the closest male relative of the deceased."

(43-2) muslim:1615aʿAbd al-Aʿlá b. Ḥammād / al-Narsī > Wuhayb > Ibn Ṭāwus from his father > Ibn ʿAbbās

Give the shares to those who are entitled to them, and what remains over goes to the nearest male heir.

(44) bukhari:5099Ismāʿīl > Mālik > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Bakr > ʿAmrah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman

(the wife of the Prophet) that while Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with her, she heard a voice of a man asking permission to enter the house of Hafsa. ʿAisha added: I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! This man is asking permission to enter your house." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I think he is so-and-so," naming the foster-uncle of Hafsa. ʿAisha said, "If so-and-so," naming her foster uncle, "were living, could he enter upon me?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, for foster suckling relations make all those things unlawful which are unlawful through corresponding birth (blood) relations."

(44-2) muslim:1444aYaḥyá b. Yaḥyá > Mālik > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Bakr > ʿAmrah > ʿĀʾishah

Messenger of Allah, he is the person who seeks permission to enter your house, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I think he is so and so (uncle of Hafsa by reason of fosterage). 'A'isha said: Messenger of Allah, if so and so (her uncle by reason of fosterage) were alive, could he enter my house? Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Yes. Fosterage makes unlawful what consanguinity makes unlawful.

2.45 Things Made Unlawful in Commerce by Allah and His Messenger

[Machine] From Jaber Bin Abdullah: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have prohibited the sale of alcohol, dead animals, pigs, and idols..." (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

(45) bukhari:2236Qutaybah > al-Layth > Yazīd b. Abū Ḥabīb > ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Rabāḥ > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh > Rasūl

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in the year of the Conquest of Mecca, saying, "Allah and His Apostle made illegal the trade of alcohol, dead animals, pigs and idols." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What about the fat of dead animals, for it was used for greasing the boats and the hides; and people use it for lights?" He said, "No, it is illegal." Messenger of Allah ﷺ further said, "May Allah curse the Jews, for Allah made the fat (of animals) illegal for them, yet they melted the fat and sold it and ate its price."

(45-2) muslim:1581aQutaybah b. Saʿīd > Layth > Yazīd b. Abū Ḥabīb > ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Rabāḥ > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

Verily Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of wine, carcass, swine and idols, It was said: Messenger of Allah, you see that the fat of the carcass is used for coating the boats and varnishing the hides and people use it for lighting purposes, whereupon he said: No, it is forbidden, Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: May Allah the Exalted and Majestic destroy the Jews; when Allah forbade the use of fat of the carcass for them, they melted it, and then sold it and made use of its price (received from it).

2.46 All Intoxicants are Unlawful

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: "Every intoxicant is prohibited." (Reported by Al-Bukhari)

2.47 The Stomach is the Worst of Things to be Filled-up

[Machine] About Al-Miqdam ibn Ma'di Karb, it is narrated: "No vessel can fill a person worse than his stomach..." This is narrated by Imam Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi said it is a good (hasan) hadith.

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The human being does not fill any vessel that is worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat what will support his back. If this is not possible, then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath."

2.48 Four Traits of a Hypocrite

[Machine] On the authority of Abdullah bin Amr: "Four traits that if found in a person, they would be a hypocrite..." narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

(48) bukhari:2459Bishr b. Khālid > Muḥammad > Shuʿbah > Sulaymān > ʿAbdullāh b. Murrah > Masrūq > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." (See Hadith No. 33 Vol. 1)

"There are four characteristics, whoever has them all is a pure hypocrite, and whoever has one of its characteristics, he has one of the characteristics of hypocrisy, until he gives it up: When he speaks he lies, when he makes a covenant he betrays it, when he makes a promise he breaks it, and when he disputes he resorts to obscene speech." In the narration of Sufyan (one of the narrators) it is: "And if he has one of them, he has one of the characteristics of hypocrisy."

2.49 Conviction of Having Trust in Allah ﷻ

[Machine] From Umar ibn al-Khattab: "If you rely on Allah with true reliance, He will provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return full in the evening." Reported by Imam Ahmad, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasai, Ibn Majah, and Ibn Hibban in their Sahih collections. Al-Hakim also reported it and Al-Tirmidhi said it is a good and authentic Hadith.

Umar bin al Khattab heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿIf you were to put your trust in Allah as you should, you would be given provision like the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.”

God provides for you when you put your trust in Him just like He provides for the early bird

(49-2) tirmidhi:2344ʿAlī b. Saʿīd al-Kindī > Ibn al-Mubārak > Ḥaywah b. Shurayḥ > Bakr b. ʿAmr > ʿAbdullāh b. Hubayrah > Abū Tamīm al-Jayshānī > ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

2.50 Constant Remembrance of Allah ﷻ

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Busr reported: "Your tongue will remain moist from the remembrance of Allah." Imam Ahmed narrated this with this wording.

(50) ahmad:17680ʿAlī b. ʿAyyāsh > Ḥassān b. Nūḥ > ʿAmr b. Qays > ʿAbdullāh b. Busr

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was approached by two bedouins, and one of them asked him, "O Muhammad, who are the best of men?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The best of men are those who live a long life and perform good deeds." The other bedouin said, "We have been overwhelmed with numerous Islamic laws and regulations. Is there a way for us to hold onto something comprehensive?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah."

(50-2) tirmidhi:3659Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abū al-Shawārib > Abū ʿAwānah > ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr > Ibn Abū al-Muʿallá from his father

from his father: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a Khutbah one day and said: 'Indeed there is a man whose Lord has given him the choice between living in this life as long as he wishes to live, and eating from this life as much as he wishes to eat, and between meeting his Lord.'" He said: "So Abu Bakr cried. The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Are you not amazed at this old man, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned a righteous man whose Lord gave him the choice between this life or meeting his Lord, and he chose meeting his Lord.'" He said: "But Abu Bakr was the most knowledgeable one of them regarding what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said. So Abu Bakr said: 'Rather we will ransom our fathers and wealth for you.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no one among people more beneficial to us (Amanna Ilaina) in his companionship, or generous with his wealth than Ibn Abi Quhafah. And, if I were to take a Khalil, I would have taken Ibn Abi Quhafah as a Khalil. But rather love and the brotherhood of faith' - saying that two or three times - 'Indeed your companion is the Khalil of Allah.'"
