ذِكْرُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا زُجِرَ عَنْ بَيْعِ مَا وَصَفْنَا

ibnhibban:4994Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Abū ʿAwn > Aḥmad b. Manīʿ > Ismāʿīl Ibn ʿUlayyah > Ayyūb > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling palm-trees till the dates began to ripen, and ears of corn till they were white and were safe from blight, forbidding it both to the buyer and to the seller. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3368)   

ابن حبّان:٤٩٩٤أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the sale of palm-trees (i. e. their trults) until the dates began to ripen, and ears of corn until they were white and were safe from blight. He forbade the seller and the buyer.

the Messenger of Allah forbade selling dates in the trees before they ripen or selling ears of corn before the grains become visible and there is no fear of blight. He forbade that to the seller ad the buyer. ,"

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling fruit until it had started to ripen. He forbade the transaction to both buyer and seller.
