ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ مِنْ أَحَبِّ الْعِبَادِ إِلَى اللَّهِ، وَأَقْرَبِهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ كَانَ أَحْسَنَ خُلُقًا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most beloved of you to Allah and the closest to me in companionship are those who have the best manners. And the most hateful of you to Allah and the farthest from me are the talkative, boastful people."  

ابن حبّان:٤٨٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ

And indeed, the most disliked among you to me, and the one sitting furthest from me on the Day of Judgement are the tharthārūn (overbearingly talkative), and the mutashaddiqūn (scandal spreaders) and the muthafayhiqūn." They said: "O Messenger of Allah! We know about the tharthārūn, and the mutashaddiqūn, but what about the muthafayhiqūn?"' He said:"The arrogant."

Those of best character will be closest to the Prophet ﷺ in the Hereafter
