The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the night prayer and the morning prayer. If they were to know the blessings they have in store, they would have come to them, even though crawling, and I thought that I should order the prayer to be commenced and command a person to lead people in prayer, and I should then go along with some persons having a fagot of fuel with them to the people who have not attended the prayer (in congregation) and would burn their houses with fire.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أَثْقَلَ صَلاَةٍ عَلَى الْمُنَافِقِينَ صَلاَةُ الْعِشَاءِ وَصَلاَةُ الْفَجْرِ وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِيهِمَا لأَتَوْهُمَا وَلَوْ حَبْوًا وَلَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَتُقَامَ ثُمَّ آمُرَ رَجُلاً فَيُصَلِّيَ بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ أَنْطَلِقَ مَعِي بِرِجَالٍ مَعَهُمْ حُزَمٌ مِنْ حَطَبٍ إِلَى قَوْمٍ لاَ يَشْهَدُونَ الصَّلاَةَ فَأُحَرِّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ بُيُوتَهُمْ بِالنَّارِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The heaviest prayers on the hypocrites are the evening prayer and the dawn prayer. If they knew what is in them, they would certainly come to them, even if they had to crawl. I had the intention to order the mu'adhdhin to pronounce the adhan (call to prayer) and then order a man to lead the people in prayer. Then, I would go with a group of men carrying bundles of firewood to a people who do not attend the prayer, and I would burn their houses down with fire."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَثْقَلُ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَىالْمُنَافِقِينَ صَلَاةُ الْعِشَاءِ وَصَلَاةُ الْفَجْرِ وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِيهِمَا لَأَتَوْهُمَا وَلَوْ حَبْوًا وَلَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَيُؤَذِّنَ ثُمَّ آمُرَ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ أَنْطَلِقَ مَعِي بِرِجَالٍ مَعَهُمْ حُزُمُ الْحَطَبِ إِلَى قَوْمٍ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَأُحَرِّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ بُيُوتَهُمْ بِالنَّارِ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "If two good deeds, like two mountains of merits, were made for one of them or for any of you, you would definitely come to it. And if they knew what these two deeds are, meaning the evening and dawn prayers, they would certainly come to them, even if they had to crawl. And I certainly intended to command a man to lead the people in prayer, then go to a group who were absent from it or from the prayer and burn them over it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَوْ جُعِلَ لِأَحَدِهِمْ أَوْ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مِرْمَاتَانِ حَسَنَتَانِ أَوْ عَرْقٌ مِنْ شَاةٍ سَمِينَةٍ لَأَتَوْهَا أَجْمَعُونَ وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِيهِمَا يَعْنِي الْعِشَاءَ وَالصُّبْحَ لَأَتَوْهُمَا وَلَوْ حَبْوًا وَلَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ آتِيَ أَقْوَامًا يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْهَا أَوْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَأُحَرِّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "The heaviest prayers on the hypocrites are the night prayer and the Fajr prayer. If they knew what there is in these prayers, they would attend them even if they had to crawl. If one of you knew that he would find a fat sheep or two good-sized camels, he would come to them. I have thought of ordering the prayer to be established, and then to order a man to lead the people in prayer, and then to take a fire torch and burn down the houses of those who did not attend the prayer." This was narrated by Abu Muawiya and Ibn Numayr, and this is the full text.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying; I thought to give orders for arranging prayer in congregation, and then to have the Iqamah called for it, then to order a man to lead the people in prayer, then to go off in company of the people who have bundles of firewood to those people who are not present at the prayer and then to burn down their houses with fire. "أثقلُ الصلاة على المنافقين: صلاةُ العِشاءِ، وصلاةُ الفجرِ، ولو يعلمون ما فيهما لأتوهما ولو حبوًا، ولقد هممت أن آمُر بالصلاةِ فتقامَ، ثم آمُرَ رجلًا فَيُصلِّىَ بالناس، ثمَّ أنطلق معى برجال معهم حزمٌ من حطب إلى قومٍ لا يشهدون الصلاة فأَحرِّقَ عليهمِ بيوتهم بالنارِ".
