"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Give charity.' A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a Dinar.' He said: 'Spend it on yourself.' He said: 'I have another.' He said: 'Spend it on your wife.' He said: 'I have another.' He said: 'Spend it on your son.' He said: 'I have another.' He said: 'Spend it on your servant.' He said: 'I have another.' He said: 'You know best (what to do with it)."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَصَدَّقُوا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى زَوْجَتِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ أَنْتَ أَبْصَرُ

The Prophet ﷺ commanded to give sadaqah. A man said: Messenger of Allah, I have a dinar. He said: Spend it on yourself. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your children. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your wife. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your servant. He finally said: I have another. He replied: You know best (what to do with it).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَثَّ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ فَقَالَ « تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِكِ» قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ» قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى زَوْجَتِكَ» قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ» قَالَ عِنْدِي آخَرُ قَالَ «أَنْتَ أَبْصَرُ»

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it was narrated that he said to his companions one day, "Give in charity." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a dinar." He said, "Spend it on yourself." He said, "I have another one." He said, "Spend it on your wife." He said, "I have another one." He said, "Spend it on your child." He said, "I have another one." He said, "Spend it on your servant." He said, "You are the most knowledgeable of your own affairs (what would benefit you most)."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَوْمًا لِأَصْحَابِهِ «تَصَدَّقُوا» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ قَالَ «أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ» قَالَ إِنَّ عِنْدِي آخَرَ قَالَ «أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى زَوْجَتِكَ» قَالَ «إِنَّ عِنْدِي آخَرَ قَالَ » أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ « قَالَ إِنَّ عِنْدِي آخَرَ قَالَ » أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ « قَالَ إِنَّ عِنْدِي آخَرَ قَالَ» أَنْتَ أَبْصَرُ «

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encouraged giving charity, and a man came and said, "I have a dinar," so he said, "Spend it on yourself."
