Allah will expose the faults of those who backbite about the faults of their fellow Muslims

The Prophet ﷺ said: "O people who have believed by their tongue, and Īmān (faith) has not ˹yet˺ entered their hearts, do not back-bite ˹your fellow˺ Muslims, and do not look for their faults. For if anyone hunts for their faults, Allah will ˹expose˺ his fault, and if Allah ˹exposes˺ the fault of anyone, He disgraces him in his house."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لاَ تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ يَتَّبِعِ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعِ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ۔»  

The Prophet ﷺ said: O community of people, who believed by their tongue, and belief did not enter their hearts, do not back-bite Muslims, and do not search for their faults, for if anyone searches for their faults, Allah will search for his fault, and if Allah searches for the fault of anyone, He disgraces him in his house. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4880)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبِعْ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ يَتَّبِعِ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعِ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ

نَادَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَ الْعَوَاتِقَ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبِعْ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ يَتَّبِعِ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ حَتَّى يَفْضَحَهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon that reached the depths of the hearts, and he said, "O people who have embraced Islam with their tongues but faith has not entered their hearts, do not harm the believers nor follow their flaws. For whoever follows the flaws of his brother, Allah will follow his flaws. And whoever Allah follows his flaws, He will expose him even if he were inside his house."  

خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خُطْبَةً أَسْمَعَ الْعَوَاتِقَ فِي خُدُورِهِنَّ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لَا تُؤْذُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبِعْ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ يَتَّبِعِ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعِ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ وَلَوْ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتِهِ»  

"عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ الله ﷺ حَتَّى اسْمَعَ الْعَوَاتِقَ فِي الْخُدُرِ: يُنَادِي بِأَعْلَى صَوْتِهِ، يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَخْلُصِ الإِيمَانُ إِلَى قَلْبِهِ، لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَلَا تَتْبَعُوا عَوْراتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّ مَنْ تَبِع عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِم يَتْبَع الله عَوْرَتَهُ، وَمنْ يَتْبِع الله عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتِهِ".  

"يَا مَعْشَر مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يُفْضِ الإِيمَانُ إِلَى قَلْبهِ: لَا تُؤذُوا المُسْلِمِينَ وَلَا تُعَيِّروهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبعْ عَوْرَات أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ يَتَّبع اللَّه عَوْرَتَهُ، وَمَنْ يَتَّبع اللَّه عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ وَلَوْ فِى جَوْفِ رَحْلِهِ".  

O people who have believed by their tongue, and Īmān (faith) has not ˹yet˺ entered their hearts, do not back-bite ˹your fellow˺ Muslims, and do not look for their faults. For if anyone hunts for the fault of his brother Muslim, Allah will ˹expose˺ his fault, and if Allah ˹exposes˺ the fault of anyone, He disgraces him even if he were to be in his house.  

«يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الإِيمَانُ قَلبَهُ: لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ يَتَّبعِ اللَّه عَوْرَتَهُ، وَمَنْ يَتَّبع اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ وَلَوْ في جَوْفِ بَيْتِهِ۔»  

"يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَلَمْ يَدْخُل الإِيْمَانُ في قَلبِهِ: لَا تَذُمُّوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَطْلُبْ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِم هَتَكَ اللَّه سِتْرَهُ وَأَبْدَى عَوْرَتَهُ، وَلَوْ كَانَ في سِتْرِ بَيْتِهِ".  

"يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَخْلُصِ الإِيمَانُ إِلى قَلبِهِ: لَا تُؤْذُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبِعْ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ يَتَّبع اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ حَتَّى يَخْرِقَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ في بَطْنِ بَيْتِهِ".
