I heard Rufaiʿ Abul-ʿAliyah narrate from Ibn ‘Abbas: A man told me - Shu’bah said: I think he said: one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ - The most admired of therm to me is Umar bin al Khattab ؓ : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying at two times: after ʿAsr until the sun sets and after Fajr until the sun rises.  

أحمد:٣٥٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رُفَيْعًا أَبَا الْعَالِيَةِ يُحَدِّثُعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَنِي رِجَالٌ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ

مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ وَأَعْجَبُهُمْ إِلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الصَّلاةِ فِي سَاعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ وَبَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ

I heard it from so many Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and one among them is 'Umar b. Khattab, and he is most dear to me among them that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited observing of prayer after the dawn prayer till the sun rose and after the 'Asr till the sun set.  

مسلم:٨٢٦a – وَحَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ هُشَيْمٍ قَالَ دَاوُدُ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ forbade praying after 'Asr until the sun had set, and after Subh until the sun had risen.

"I heard more than one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ - including 'Umar who was one of the dearest of them to me - that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying after Fajr until the sun had risen, and praying after 'Asr until the sun had set."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban from al Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade prayer after asr until the sun had set, and prayer after subh until the sun had risen.  

مالك:١٥-٥٠ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

'Are you not going to pray?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no prayer after 'Asr until the sun has set, nor after Subh until the sun has risen.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 518)   

أحمد:١٧٩٢٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ نَصْرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ مُعَاذِ أَنَّهُ طَافَ مَعَ مُعَاذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ أَوْ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ؟ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى أَوْ يَقُولُ لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَبَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ forbade praying after 'Asr until the sun had set, and after Subh until the sun had risen. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 561)  

ابن حبّان:١٥٤٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
