The Prophet [SAW] said: "If two Muslims confront each other with swords, and one kills the other, they will both be in Hell." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, (we understand about) the killer, but what about the one who is killed?" He said: "He wanted to kill his companion." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4118)

I came out with the intention of (participating in) fighting. Abu Bakrah met me and said: Go back, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When two Muslims face each other with their swords, the killer and the slain will go to Hell. He asked: Messenger of Allah, this is the killer (so naturally he should go to Hell), but what is the matter with the slain ? He replied: He intended to kill his companion.

"I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] say: 'If two Muslims confront each other with their swords and one of them kills the other, both the killer and the slain will be in Hell.'" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, (we understand about) the killer, but what about the one who is killed?" He said: "He wanted to kill his companion." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4122)  

الكبرى للنسائي:٣٥٧٦أَخْبَرَنَا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ هُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا تَوَاجَهَ الْمُسْلِمَانِ بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا فَقَتَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ فَالْقَاتِلُ وَالْمَقْتُولُ فِي النَّارِ» قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا الْقَاتِلُ فَمَا بَالُ الْمَقْتُولِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّهُ أَرَادَ قَتْلَ صَاحِبِهِ»

When two Muslims confront each other with their swords, both the slayer and the slain are doomed to Hell-Fire. (Using translation from Muslim 2888b)   

البيهقي:١٦٧٩٢أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْفَقِيهُ الشِّيرَازِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْجَارُودِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ثنا أَيُّوبُ وَيُونُسُ وَالْمُعَلَّى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ

"إِذا الْتقى المسلمانِ بسيفيهما فَقَتَل أحدُهما صاحبَه -فالقاتلُ والمقتولُ في النارِ- قيل يا رسول الله هَذَا القاتلُ- فما بَالُ المقتولِ؟ قال إنَّه كانَ حريصًا على قتلِ صاحبِه" .

"إِذا تواجه المُسلمان بسيفيهما فقَتل أحدُهُما صاحبَه، فالقاتَلُ والمقتولُ والمقتولُ في النَّارِ. قيل: يا رسولَ اللهِ هذا القاتِلُ. فما بالُ المقْتول؟ قال: إنه أرادَ قَتْلَ صاحبه ".
