The mother of Saʿd bin 'Ubada died in his absence. He said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! My mother died in my absence; will it be of any benefit for her if I give Sadaqa on her behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes," Saʿd said, "I make you a witness that I gave my garden called Al Makhraf in charity on her behalf."

أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ ؓ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّهُ وَهْوَ غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَأَنَا غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا أَيَنْفَعُهَا شَىْءٌ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنَّ حَائِطِي الْمِخْرَافَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهَا

That the mother of Saʿd bin Ubada the brother of Bani Saida died in Saʿd's absence, so he came to the Prophet saying, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! My mother died in my absence, will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes." Saʿd said, "I take you as my witness that I give my garden Al-Makhraf in charity on her behalf."

أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ ؓ أَخَا بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّهُ وَهْوَ غَائِبٌ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَأَنَا غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا شَىْءٌ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنَّ حَائِطِي الْمِخْرَافَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهَا

A man said to Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "My mother died, will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative. The man said, "I have a garden and I make you a witness that I give it in charity on her behalf."

لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمَّهُ تُوُفِّيَتْ أَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ لِي مِخْرَافًا وَأُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا

"O Messenger of Allah, my mother died; will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "I have a garden and I ask you to bear witness that I am giving it in charity on her behalf."

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمَّهُ تُوُفِّيَتْ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ لِي مَخْرَفًا فَأُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا

A man said: Messenger of Allah, my mother has died ; will it benefit her if I give sadaqah on her behalf ? He said: Yes. He said: I have a garden, and I call you to witness that I have given it as sadaqah on her behalf.

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ لِي مَخْرَفًا وَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا

a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! My mother died, will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?" He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I have a Makhraf, so bear witness that I have given it in charity on her behalf.'"

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ لِي مَخْرَفًا فَأُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمَّهُ تُوُفِّيَتْ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ لِي مَخْرَفًا وَأُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا

[Machine] He visited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away and I was absent from her. Would it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?" He ﷺ said, "Yes." He said, "I bear witness that my dilapidated wall is a charity on her behalf."

عَنْهَا فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَأَنَا غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنَّ حَائِطِي الْمَخْرَفَ صَدَقَةٌ عَنْهَا

"O Messenger of Allah, my mother died; will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "I have a garden and I ask you to bear witness that I am giving it in charity on her behalf." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3655)

"عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّ سَعْدِ بْنِ عبَادَةَ، وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا، فَأَتَى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: إِنَّ أُمِّى تُوفيَتْ وَأَنَا غَائبٌ عَنْهَا، فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصدقْتُ عَنْها بِشئ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ فَإِنِّى أُشْهِدُكَ أَن حَائِطَ المَخْرفِ صَدَقَةٌ عَنْهَا".
