The Prophet ﷺ said, "The boy is for (the owner of) the bed and the stone is for the person who commits illegal sexual intercourse.'
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ
The child is to be attributed to one on whose bed he is born, and for a fornicator there is stoning.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ
"The child is the bed's and for the fornicator is the stone."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ

the Messenger of Allah ruled that the child belonged to the bed.

Thereupon Bushayr b. Kaʿb said: It is written in ˹my˺ wisdom ˹notes˺ that Ḥayāʾ leads to solemnity; Ḥayāʾ leads to tranquility. ʿImrān said to him: I am narrating to you the saying of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and you are speaking about your ˹notes on˺ paper (wisdom book)?
