Abu Basra al-Ghifari reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "I will ride to the Jews tomorrow. Do not give them the greeting first. If they greet you, then say, 'and on you.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلاَ تَبْدَأُوهُمْ بِالسَّلاَمِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of the Jews greets you and says, 'Poison be upon you (as-samu 'alaykum),' say, 'And on you.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكَ

When the Jews offer you salutations, some of them say as-Sam-u-'Alaikum (death be upon you). You should say (in response to it): Let it be upon you.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ يَقُولُ أَحَدُهُمُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُلْ عَلَيْكَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of the Jews greets you saying: Death may come upon you, reply: The same to you. Abu Dawud said: Malik b. 'Adb Allah b. Dinar transmitted it in a similar manner, and al-Thawri transmitted it from 'Abd Allah b. Dinar. He said in this version: The same to you.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed when a Jew gives Salam to one of you, then he is only saying: 'As-Samu 'Alaikum' (Death be upon you) so say: "Alaik (And upon you).'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُلْ عَلَيْكَ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)".

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى الْيَهُودِ فَلاَ تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلاَمِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed when a Jew gives Salam to one of you, then he is only saying: 'As-Samu 'Alaikum' (Death be upon you) so say: "Alaik (And upon you).'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1603)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ أَحَدُهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ قُلْ عَلَيْكَ

When the Jews offer you salutations, some of them say as-Sam-u-'Alaikum (death be upon you). You should say (in response to it): Let it be upon you. (Using translation from Muslim 2164a)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا فَإِنَّمَا تَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقُلْ عَلَيْكَ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّيرَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ وَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them one day, "I am going to visit the Jews, so whoever wants to come with me, if they greet you, say 'peace be upon you too,' and then we will proceed." So when we arrived to them and they greeted us, we said, "and upon you too."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَهُمْ يَوْمًا إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَمَنْ انْطَلَقَ مَعِي فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ فَانْطَلَقْنَا فَلَمَّا جِئْنَاهُمْ وَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّا غَادُونَ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّا غَادُونَ عَلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar that Abdullah ibn Umar said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a jew greets you, and says 'Death to you' (as-samu alaykum) say, 'And to you.' " Yahya said, "Malik was asked whether a person who greeted a jew or christian, should apologise for it. He said, 'No'."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُلْ عَلَيْكَ۔ وسُئِلَ مالِكٌ عَمَّنْ سَلَّمَ عَلى اليَهُودِيِّ أوِ النَّصْرانِيِّ هَلْ يَسْتَقِيلُهُ ذلِكَ؟ فَقالَ: لاَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا يَقُولُ أَحَدُهُمُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقُلْ وَعَلَيْكَ»

أَن رَسولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اليَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ يَقُولُونَ السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, 'I am going to the Jews, so whoever wants to accompany me from among you, do not greet them with the salutation. But if they greet us, then say, 'Wa 'alaykum.' When we reached them, they greeted us, so we said, 'Wa 'alaykum.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُمْ إِنِّي أَرْكَبُ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَمَنِ انْطَلَقَ مَعِي مِنْكُمْ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمُ السَّلَامَ فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ فَلَمَّا جِئْنَاهُمْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "We are going tomorrow to the Jews, so when you meet them, greet them by saying, 'Peace be upon you.' They will greet you in return by saying, 'And upon you.' We met them and greeted them, and they greeted us by saying, 'And upon you.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّا ذَاهِبُونَ غَدًا إِلَى الْيَهُودِ فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقِينَاهُمْ وَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي مُنْطَلِقٌ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

"I am riding to the Jews tomorrow. Do not initiate the greeting with them, and if they greet you, then say: Wa 'alaikum (and also upon you)". (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3699)

لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى الْيَهُودِ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "We are going to visit the Jews tomorrow, so do not greet them with peace. If they greet you with peace, then say, 'And upon you.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّا غَادُونَ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودٍ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ»

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the Jews greet anyone of you they say: 'Sam'Alaika (death be upon you); so you should say; 'Wa 'Alaika (and upon you).'" (Using translation from Bukhārī 6928)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا قَالُوا السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I am going to ride to the Jews, so whoever wants to join me, if they offer you greetings, respond with my greetings upon you.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ إِلَى يَهُودٍ فَمَنِ انْطَلَقَ مَعِي فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, you will meet the Jews tomorrow, so do not initiate the greeting of peace to them. And if they greet you with peace, then say, 'and upon you.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّكُمْ لَاقُونَ الْيَهُودَ غَدًا فَلَا تَبْدءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكَ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the Jews greet you, they usually say, 'As-Samu 'alaikum (Death be on you),' so you should say (in reply to them), 'Wa'alaikum (And on you). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6257)

"إِذا سَلَّمَ عليكم اليَهُودُ فإنَّما يقولُ أحدُ (هُمْ): السامُ عليكَ، فَقُلْ: وعليكَ".

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the Jews greet you, they usually say, 'As-Samu 'alaikum (Death be on you),' so you should say (in reply to them), 'Wa'alaikum (And on you). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6257)

"إِنَّ اليهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ علَيْكُمْ أحدُهُم فَإِنَّمَا يقُولُ: السَّامُ علَيْكُم، فقولوا: وعلَيْكُم ".
