I asked the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Should the women be asked for their consent to their marriage?" He said, "Yes." I said, "A virgin, if asked, feels shy and keeps quiet." He said, "Her silence means her consent."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يُسْتَأْمَرُ النِّسَاءُ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تُسْتَأْمَرُ فَتَسْتَحِي فَتَسْكُتُ قَالَ سُكَاتُهَا إِذْنُهَا

"Seek the permission of women with regard to marriage." It was said: "What if a virgin is too shy and remains silent?" He said: "That is her permission."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ اسْتَأْمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قِيلَ فَإِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحِي وَتَسْكُتُ قَالَ هُوَ إِذْنُهَا

[AI] Narrated Aisha, she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Consult women with regards to their clothing." It was said, "But what about the maiden, who feels shy to speak?" He said, "Her silence is a form of consent."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَقَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَأْمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قَالَ قِيلَ فَإِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ تَكَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ سُكُاتُهَا إِذْنُهَا

"Seek the permission of women with regard to marriage." It was said: "What if a virgin is too shy and remains silent?" He said: "That is her permission." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3266)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ اسْتَأْمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قَالَ قِيلَ فَإِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحْيِي فَتَسْكُتُ قَالَ فَهُوَ إِذْنُهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seek the opinion of women in matters of their properties." It was said, "The virgin feels shy." He said, "Her silence is her affirmation."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اسْتَأْمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ» قِيلَ إِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحْيِي قَالَ «سُكُوتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا»

[AI] She asked the Prophet ﷺ about a virgin girl proposing to a man, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Women should consult each other regarding their needs." She said, "O Messenger of Allah, a virgin feels shy and remains silent." He said, "Her silence is her acceptance."

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْبِكْرِ تَخْطُبُ فَقَالَتْ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ تُسْتَأْمَرُ النِّسَاءُ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْبِكْرُ تَسْتَحِي فَتَسْكُتُ قَالَ «سُكُوتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا»

"Seek the permission of women with regard to marriage." It was said: "What if a virgin is too shy and remains silent?" He said: "That is her permission." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3266)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «اسْتَأْمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ» قِيلَ فَإِنَّ الْبِكْرَ تَسْتَحِيِي فَتَسْكُتُ قَالَ «هُوَ إِذْنُهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Women are to be commanded regarding their clothing." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed they feel shy." He said, "The adult woman knows best about herself, and the virgin is to be commanded, and her silence is her consent."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تُسْتَأْمَرُ النِّسَاءُ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُنَّ يَسْتَحْيِينَ قَالَ الْأَيِّمُ أَحَقُّ بِنَفْسِهَا وَالْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ وَسُكَاتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا
