[AI] A group from the tribe of Sulaim came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man among us has committed a sin and we want him to fulfill its expiation." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let him free a slave like himself, for Allah will remove a part of him from the Fire for every limb of the slave he frees."

جَاءَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ فَقَالَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِيَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً مِثْلَهُ يَفُكَّ اللهُ ﷻ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

[AI] "We were narrated a story from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, 'We visited the Prophet ﷺ regarding a companion of ours who had made a vow.' He said, 'Free him, for Allah will free every limb from his body a limb from the Fire.'"

حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي صَاحِبٍ لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ فَقَالَ أَعْتِقُوا عَنْهُ يُعْتِقِ اللهُ ﷻ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ met a group of Banu Sulaym and they said, "We have a companion who is in bondage." He said, "Let him free a slave as a means of ransom for every limb of his body from the Fire of Hell."

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا أَوْجَبَ قَالَ فَلْيُعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً يَفْدِي اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

[AI] This sheikh told me, I mean, Wathilah, I said, "What did he tell you?" He said, "He told me that I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk when some people from the Bani Sulaym came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, our companion has vowed to free a slave.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Free him, for Allah will free every limb of his from the Fire.' Thus, the narration of Wathilah became authentic according to the conditions of the two sheikhs, and Muslim also recorded it in his narration of Abu Hurairah's words: 'The freeing of a Muslim slave will free a Muslim limb from the Fire.'"

حَدَّثَنِي هَذَا الشَّيْخُ يَعْنِي وَاثِلَةَ قُلْتُ مَا حَدَّثَكَ؟ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَأَتَاهُ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَاحِبَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوا عَنْهُ يُعْتِقِ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ» فَصَارَ حَدِيثُ وَاثِلَةَ بِهَذِهِ الرِّوَايَاتِ صَحِيحًا عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لَفْظَهُ فِي عِتْقِ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ امْرَءًا مُسْلِمًا صحيح

[AI] This sheikh told me about it, meaning Wathila. I asked, "What did he tell you?" He said, "We were with the Prophet ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk when some people from the Banu Sulaym tribe came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we have a companion who has incurred debt.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Free a slave for him, for Allah will free every limb of his from the Fire in return.'" He mentioned, "The name of my father is Abi Abilah Shimir ibn Yaqdhan ibn Amir ibn Abdullah."

حَدَّثَنِي بِهِ هَذَا الشَّيْخُ يَعْنِي وَاثِلَةَ قُلْتُ مَا حَدَّثَكَ؟ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَأَتَاهُ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوا عَنْهُ رَقَبَةً يُعْتِقُ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ» «اسْمُ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ شِمْرُ بْنُ يَقْظَانَ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ»

[AI] The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever frees a believing slave, Allah will free from Hellfire every limb of theirs, freeing one limb per limb of the slave they have freed."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever frees a slave for the sake of Allah, Allah will free every part of his body from the Fire by freeing one part of it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً لِلَّهِ أَعْتَقَ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Tabuk expedition, and some individuals from the Banu Sulaym came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have a companion who owes a debt." He ﷺ said, "Then let him free himself from it, for Allah will burn with Hellfire every limb of his body for each limb he owes."

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزَاةِ تَبُوكَ فَجَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ قَالَ «فَلْيُعْتَقْ عَنْهُ رَقَبَةٌ يَفُكُّ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] A group of the Banu Sulaym came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Indeed, we have a companion who owes us a debt." He ﷺ said, "Then let him set a slave free, for indeed Allah will release him from every limb of that slave, a limb from the Fire."

أَنَّ نَفَرًا مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ قَالَ «فَلْيُعْتَقْ عَنْهُ رَقَبَةٌ يَفُكُّ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who has committed a major sin?" meaning the Hellfire. He replied, "He will be punished in Hell, but if he sincerely repents, his repentance will free him from the punishment of every limb that sinned."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ قَدْ أَوْجَبَ؟ يَعْنِي النَّارَ فَقَالَ «يَعْتِقُ رَقَبَةً فَإِنَّهُ يَفْدِي كُلُّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ received a group of people from the tribe of Bani Sulaim. They said, "We have a companion who has made a vow." He replied, "Then let him free a slave." Allah will replace every part of his body with a part from the Hellfire if he does not do so.

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ قَالَ «فَلْيُعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً يَفُكُّ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَأَتَاهُ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ صَاحِبَنَا قَدْ أَوْجَبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوا عَنْهُ رَقَبَةً يُعْتِقِ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

"أَعْتقوا عنه رقبةً يعتق الله بكل عضو مِنْها عضْوًا منْه مِنَ النَّارِ".

"عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأسْقَع أنَّ نَفَرًا مِنْ بَنِى سلِيمٍ أَتَوا رَسُولَ الله ﷺ في غَزْوَةِ تَبُوك فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنَ صَاحِبًا لَنَا قَدْ أوْجَبَ، قَالَ: أعْتِقُوا عَنْهُ رَقَبَة يَفُكُّ الله عَنْهُ بِكُل عُضْوٍ منَها عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِن النَّارِ".
