I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Only a ruler, or one put in charge, or one who is presumptuous, gives instructions.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لاَ يَقُصُّ إِلاَّ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

"No one tells the stories to the people (for the purpose of exhortation) except a ruler, one appointed by a ruler, or a show-off."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلاَّ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُرَاءٍ

"No one tells the stories to the people (for the purpose of exhortation) except a ruler, one appointed by a ruler, or a show-off." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3753)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُرَاءٍ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A nation will not prosper if they entrust their affairs to a woman."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَنْ يُفْلِحَ قَوْمٌ أَسْنَدُوا أَمْرَهُمْ إِلَى امْرَأَةٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "The executor of punishment is one of three: a ruler, an authorized person, or an arrogant person."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ الْقُصَّاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Only a ruler, or one put in charge, or one who is presumptuous, gives instructions. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3665)

قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَقُصُّ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The executioner is one of three: a prince, a commander, or an arrogant person."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْقُصَّاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

[AI] "What is this group?" They said, "It is Ka'b who is narrating." He said, "Oh woe to him! Didn't he hear the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Only a ruler or an appointed person or a vain person narrates."

مَا هَذِهِ الْجَمَاعَةُ؟ قَالُوا كَعْبٌ يَقُصُّ قَالَ يَا وَيْحَهُ أَلَا سَمِعَ قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَقُصُّ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَقُصُّ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

[AI] What is this? They said, "It's a whip." He said, "Oh no, didn't you hear the statement of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : 'No one should whip others except an amir (leader), a man authorized to do so, or a mukhtal (one who has been given permission).'"

عَوْفٌ مَا هَذِهِ؟ فَقَالُوا كَعْبٌ يَقُصُّ فَقَالَ يَا وَيْحَهُ أَمَا سَمِعَ حَدِيثَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that retribution (qisas) is for three: a leader (amir), an appointed authority (ma'mur), or a conceited person (mukhtal).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْقِصَاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Al-Qasas (retribution) is of three kinds: a ruler, a person who carries out a command, or a proud person."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْقَصَّاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "None should narrate (a story) except an Emir (ruler) or an appointed person or a person entrusted with a task." So, Muawiyah refrained from narrating until he was appointed for it.

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَقُصُّ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُتَكَلِّفٌ» فَأَمْسَكَ عَنِ الْقَصَصِ حَتَّى أَمَرَهُ بِهِ مُعَاوِيَةُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "No one should speak among the people except a leader, a commander, or a fraudster."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُحْتَالٌ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Retribution is one of three: carried out by a ruler, commanded by a authority, or done by a person acting arrogantly."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْقِصَاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ

"الْقُصَّاصُ ثَلاثةُ: أَميرٌ أَوْ مأمُورٌ أوْ مُخْتَالٌ" .

"لا يَقُصُّ إلا أمِيرٌ أوْ مَأمُورٌ أوْ مُتكَلِّفٌ".

"لا يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلا أميرٌ أوْ مَأمُورٌ أو مُرَاءٍ".
