That heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "We are the last but will be the foremost to enter Paradise)." The Prophet added, "He who obeys me, obeys Allah, and he who disobeys me, disobeys Allah. He who obeys the chief, obeys me, and he who disobeys the chief, disobeys me. The Imam is like a shelter for whose safety the Muslims should fight and where they should seek protection. If the Imam orders people with righteousness and rules justly, then he will be rewarded for that, and if he does the opposite, he will be responsible for that."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ نَحْنُ الآخِرُونَ السَّابِقُونَ وَبِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَمَنْ يُطِعِ الأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ يَعْصِ الأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ عَصَانِي وَإِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَعَدَلَ فَإِنَّ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرًا وَإِنْ قَالَ بِغَيْرِهِ فَإِنَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah, and whoever obeys the ruler I appoint, obeys me, and whoever disobeys him, disobeys me."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَمَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ عَصَى أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ عَصَانِي

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Verily the Imam is a shield, say prayer sitting when he says prayer sitting. And when he says:" Allah listens to him who praises Him," say:" O Allah, our Lord, to Thee be the praise." and when the utterance of the people of the earth synchronises with that of the beings of heaven (angels), all the previous sins would be pardoned.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ فَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَإِذَا وَافَقَ قَوْلُ أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ قَوْلَ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

Whoso obeys me obeys God, and whoso disobeys me disobeys God. Whoso obeys the commander (appointed by me) obeys me, and whoso disobeys the commander disobeys me. The same tradition transmitted by different persons omits the portion: And whose disobeys the commander disobeys me.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ يَعْصِنِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَمَنْ يُطِعِ الأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ يَعْصِ الأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ عَصَانِي وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُر وَمَنْ يَعْصِ الأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ عَصَانِي

Whoso obeys me obeys God; and whose disobeys me disobeys God. Whoso obeys my commander obeys me, and whoso disobeys my commander disobeys me.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَمَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ عَصَى أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ عَصَانِي

A commander (of the Muslims) is a shield for them. They fight behind him and they are protected by (him from tyrants and aggressors). If he enjoins fear of God, the Exalted and Glorious, and dispenses justice, there will be a (great) reward for him; and if he enjoins otherwise, it redounds on him.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ ﷻ وَعَدَلَ كَانَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرٌ وَإِنْ يَأْمُرْ بِغَيْرِهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah. Whoever obeys my governor (Amir), he has obeyed me, and whoever disobeys my governor, he has disobeyed me."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَمَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ عَصَى أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ عَصَانِي

"The Imam is like a shield whose orders should be obeyed when they (the Muslims) fight, and where they should seek protection. If he enjoins fear of Allah and behaves justly, then he will be rewarded, but if he enjoins otherwise, then it will be a burden (of sin) on him."

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ , I heard Sufyan say: "Whoever obeys my leader, has indeed obeyed me. And whoever obeys me, has indeed obeyed Allah."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي وَمَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللهَ ﷻ

“Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, And whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah. Whoever obeys the ruler, obeys me, and whoever disobeys the ruler, disobeys me.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2859)

[AI] Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Whoever obeys me has indeed obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys me has indeed disobeyed Allah. Whoever obeys the leader has indeed obeyed me, for the leader is like a fortress. If someone prays while sitting, then everyone should pray sitting or kneeling. When he says 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah' (Allah hears whoever praises Him), then say 'Rabbana lakal hamd' (Our Lord, praise is for You). For when the saying of the people of the earth coincides with the saying of the people of the heavens, his previous sins will be forgiven."

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ مِنْ فِيهِ إِلَى فِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺيَقُولُ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللهَ وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللهَ وَمَنْ أَطَاعَ الْأَمِيرَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي إِنَّمَا الْأَمِيرُ مِجَنٌّ فَإِنْ صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا أَوْ قُعُودًا فَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا وَافَقَ قَوْلُ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ قَوْلَ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا مَضَى مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ من أطاعني فقد أطاع الله وَمَنْ عصاني فقد عصى الله وَمَنْ أطاع أميري فقد أطاعني

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قال من أطاعني فقد أطاع الله وَمَنْ عصاني فقد عصى الله وَمَنْ أطاع أميري فقد أطاعني وَمَنْ عصى الأمير فقد عصاني أبو إسحاق الهمداني عَن أبي صالح عَن أبي هُرَيرة

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ من أطاعني فقد أطاع الله ومن أطاع الأمير فقد فقد أطاعني ومن عصى الأمير فقد عصاني

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ من أطاعني فقد أطاع الله ومن عصاني فقد عصى الله ومن عصى الأمير فقد عصاني ومن أطلع الأمير فقد أطاعني والأمير مجن فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا سجد فاسجدوا فإن صلى قاعدا فصلوا قعودا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا اللهم ربنا لك الحمد وإذا قرا ولا الضالين فقولوا آمين فإذا وافق أهل السماء قول أهل الأرض غفر للعبد ما تقدم من ذنبه أبو رَزِين

"إِنَّمَا الإِمامُ جُنَّةٌ، يُقَاتَل مِنْ وَرَائِهِ، ويُتَّقَى به، فإِنْ أَمَرَ بتقوى اللَّه وَعَدَلَ فإِنَّ له بذلِكَ أَجْرًا، وإِنَّ أمَرَ بغيرِهِ، فإِنَّ عليه وِزْرًا ".

"إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِمامُ جُنَّةً، فإِذا صلَّى قاعدًا فصلوُّا قعُودًا، وإِذا قال سمع اللَّه لمن حمده فقولوا: اللهمَّ ربنَّا لك الحمدُ، فإِذا وافق قول أَهِل الأَرضِ قولَ أَهلِ السماءِ غُفر له ما تقدمَ من ذَنبه".

"مَنْ أَطَاعنِى فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللهَ ﷻ ومن عَصَانِى فقد عَصَى اللهَ وَمَنْ أطاعَ عَليًّا فَقَد [أَطَاعنِى ومن عصَى عَلِيًّا فَقَدْ] (*) عَصَانِى".
