Sulaiman bin Buraidah reported on his father’s authority The Prophet ﷺ said “Fight in the name of Allaah and in the path of Allaah and with him who disbelieves in Allaah fight and do not be treacherous and do not be dishonest about boot yand do not deface (in killing) and do not kill a child.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ اغْزُوا بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَقَاتِلُوا مَنْ كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ اغْزُوا وَلاَ تَغْدِرُوا وَلاَ تَغُلُّوا وَلاَ تُمَثِّلُوا وَلاَ تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us in a military detachment and said: ‘Go in the Name of Allah, and in the cause of Allah. Fight those who disbelieve in Allah. Do not mutilate, do not be treacherous, do not steal from the spoils of war, and do not kill children.’”

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ سِيرُوا بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَاتِلُوا مَنْ كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ وَلاَ تُمَثِّلُوا وَلاَ تَغْدِرُوا وَلاَ تَغُلُّوا وَلاَ تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا

[AI] We sent the messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on an expedition. He said, "March in the name of Allah, in the cause of Allah, to fight against the enemies of Allah. Do not be excessive, do not kill children, and for the traveler, there are three days and nights in which he wipes over his feet when he enters them in a state of purity. And for the resident, there is a day and a night."

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ قَالَ سِيرُوا بِاسْمِ اللهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تُقَاتِلُونَ أَعْدَاءَ اللهِ لَا تَغُلُّوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُواوَلِيدًا وَلِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ إِذَا أَدْخَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى طُهُورٍ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ

[AI] We sent the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on a military expedition, and he said, "Attack in the name of Allah, in the path of Allah, and do not cheat, betray, pretend, or kill a child of the traveler. For the traveler, there are three wipes on the shoes, and for the resident, it is a day and a night." A'ffan said in his narration, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sent me."

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ اغْزُوا بِسْمِ اللهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَلَا تَغُلُّوا وَلَاتَغْدِرُوا وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثٌ مَسْحٌ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz wrote to one of his governors, "It has been passed down to us that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a raiding party, he would say to them, 'Make your raids in the name of Allah in the way of Allah. Fight whoever denies Allah. Do not steal from the booty, and do not act treacherously. Do not mutilate and do not kill children.' Say the same to your armies and raiding parties, Allah willing. Peace be upon you."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً يَقُولُ لَهُمُ اغْزُوا بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تُقَاتِلُونَ مَنْ كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ لاَ تَغُلُّوا وَلاَ تَغْدِرُوا وَلاَ تُمَثِّلُوا وَلاَ تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا وَقُلْ ذَلِكَ لِجِيُوشِكَ وَسَرَايَاكَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed three days and nights for the traveller and one day and night for one who is not travelling (i.e., with regard to wiping over the khuffain or leather slippers) (Using translation from Aḥmad 1126)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "In the name of Allah, and for the sake of Allah, and on the path of the Messenger of Allah, do not cheat, betray, imitate, or kill children."

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللهِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ لَا تَغُلُّوا وَلَا تَغْدِرُوا وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا الْوِلْدَانَ»

[AI] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would send out his armies, he would say, 'In the name of Allah, and in the cause of Allah, and upon the religion of the Messenger of Allah, do not exceed the limits, do not betray, do not kill infants.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا بَعَثَ جُيُوشَهُ قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللهِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ لَا تَغُلُّوا وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا»

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "For the traveler, there are three days and their nights, and for the resident, there is one day and one night. He should wipe over his socks when he enters them and when he has pure feet.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ إِذَا أَدْخَلَهُمَا وَقَدَمَاهُ طَاهِرَتَانِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about wiping over the two khuffs: "Three days for the traveler and one day and one night for the resident."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ «ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ لِلْمُسَافِرِ وَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , sent me on a military expedition and said, "Attack in the name of Allah, in the cause of Allah. Do not exceed the limits, do not betray, do not kill a child, and for the traveler, allow him three days and nights, and for the resident, one day and night to wipe over their sandals."

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ «اغْزُوا بِسْمِ اللهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ لَا تَغْلُوا وَلَا تَغْدِرُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا وَلِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: The time limit for wiping over the socks for a traveller is three days (and three nights) and for a resident it is one day and one night. Abu Dawud said: Another version adds: Had we requested him to extend (the period of wiping), he would have extended. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 157)

«يَمْسَحُ الْمُسَافِرُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَالْمُقِيمُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a military expedition, and in it, he said, 'Let one of you wipe over his socks when traveling for three days and nights, and when staying in a place, for one day and night.'

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ قَالَ فَلْيَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ إِذَا كَانَ مُسَافِرًا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ وَإِذَا كَانَ مُقِيمًا فَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةً

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us on a military expedition and said, "Let one of you wipe over his feet if he is a traveler, after he has performed ablution when entering them, for three days and nights. As for the resident, he should wipe over them for a day and a night."

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ وَقَالَ لِيَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا كَانَ مُسَافِرًا عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ إِذَا أَدْخَلَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَيْنِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ وَلْيَمْسَحِ الْمُقِيمُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً

"اغْزُوا باسْم اللهِ، في سبيلِ اللهِ: لَا تَغُلُّوا، ولا تَغْدُوُا، ولا تُمثِّلوا، ولا تَقْتُلوا وليدًا. لِلمُسافِر ثَلاثٌ مسحٌ على الخُفَّينِ، ولِلمُقيم يَوْمٌ ولَيلَةٌ".

"المسح على الخفين للمقيم يومٌ وليلةٌ، وللمسافر ثلاثةُ أَيامٍ ولياليهن ".

"لِلمُسَافِرِ ثَلاثَةُ أَيَّام وَلَيَالِيهنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيلَةٌ، يَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيهِ إِذَا أَدْخَلَهُمَا، وَقدَمَاهُ طَاهِرَتَانِ".
