“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was dying, and there was a bowl of water next to him. He put his hand in the vessel and wiped his face with the water, and said: ‘O Allah, help me to bear the agonies of death.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1623)
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُو يَمُوتُ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ»
"I saw the Messenger of Allah while he was dying. He had a cup with water in it, he put his hand in the cup then wiped his face with the water, then said: 'O Allah! Help me with the throes of death and the agony of death.'"
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ وَهُوَ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ أَوْ سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ
“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was dying, and there was a bowl of water next to him. He put his hand in the vessel and wiped his face with the water, and said: ‘O Allah, help me to bear the agonies of death.’”

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَمُوتُ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ»
[Machine] I heard Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad narrating and reciting the words of Allah ﷻ: {And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.} [Qaf 19] Then he said, Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, told me: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was on his deathbed. He had a cup containing water, and he used to dip his hand into the cup and then wipe his face with the water, saying, "O Allah, help me with the throes of death."
سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ يُحَدِّثُ وَتَلَا قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ} [ق 19] ثُمَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ أُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ وَهُوَ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ died between my arms and chest. After seeing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ die while he had a cup of water in which he would put his hand and wipe his face with the water, I will never dislike the severity of death for anyone. Then he said, "O Allah, assist me in the agony of death."
مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ حَافِنَتِي وَدَافِنَتِي فَلَا أَكْرَهُ شِدَّةَ الْمَوْتِ لِأَحَدٍ أَبَدًا بَعْدَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَمُوتُ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ»
