A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The night prayer is two ˹rakahs˺, then two ˹rakahs, and so on˺. Then, when one of you fears that dawn is near, let him pray one rakah, which will make odd what he has already prayed."

أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى».

A man said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! How is the prayer of the night?" He said, "Two rakʿat followed by two rakʿat and so on, and when you apprehend the approaching dawn, offer one rakʿa as witr."

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears morning is near, he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him.

أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى

It consists of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one fears morning is near, he should make it an odd number by praying one rak'ah.

سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِرَكْعَةٍ

A man stood up and said. Messenger of Allah, how is the night prayer? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The night prayer consists of pair, but if you apprehend the rise of dawn, make it odd number by observing one rak'ah.

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the prayer at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears the morning is near he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him.

أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى

"Ibn Umar said: "A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayer at night. He said: "Two by two, and if you fear that dawn will come, then one.'"

ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةٌ

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Prayers at night are two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one rak'ah."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the minbar, when he was asked about prayers at night, say: "Two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one rak'ah.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يُسْأَلُ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِرَكْعَةٍ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺabout prayers at night, and he said: "Two by two, then if one of you fears that dawn will come, let him pray witr with one."

The Prophet ﷺ said: "prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

"A man from among the Muslims asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'How are prayers at night to be done?' He said: 'prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one.'"

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayers at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one."

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

"A man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, how are the prayers at night to be done?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one.'"

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man from among the people of the desert asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayer at night. He said:"(It is) two by two, and Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night."

أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Prayer at night is two by two, then when you want to finish, pray one rak'h which will make the total number that you prayed odd."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَنْصَرِفَ فَارْكَعْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Prayer at night is two by two, and witr is one rak'ah.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayer at night and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Prayer at night is two by two, then if one of you fears that dawn will break, pray one rak'ah to make the total number that he prayed odd."

أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى

He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Prayer at night is two rak'ahs by two rak'ahs, then when you fear tat dawn will break, pray witr with one rak'ah."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرُوا بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the prayer at night. سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ «مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى»

[AI] A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer. He replied, "It is done in pairs. And when one of you fears the dawn, he should perform one more unit of prayer to complete what he has offered." Abu Muhammad was asked, "Do you adhere to it?" He replied, "Yes."

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ «مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى» قِيلَ لِأَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ تَأْخُذُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how do you order us to pray at night?" He replied, "You should pray two units of prayer at a time, and when you fear the approach of dawn, pray one unit of prayer which will be your Witr (odd-numbered) prayer for what you have already prayed in the night."

رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ؟ قَالَ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى وَاحِدَةً فَأَوْتَرَتْ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ

[AI] I heard the Prophet (PBUH) being asked, "How should one pray at night?" He said, "Pray two units of prayer at a time, and when you fear the approach of dawn, then pray one unit as a Witr prayer."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ كَيْفَ يُصَلَّى بِاللَّيْلِ؟ قَالَ لِيُصَلِّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ فَلْيُوتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1689)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوِتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Prayers at night are two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one rak'ah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1668)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الْفَجْرَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The night prayer is (to be performed in) pairs, pairs. But if you fear the coming of dawn, then perform one rakaah (unit of prayer) for witr." I asked, "What is (meant by) pairs, pairs?" He said, "Two rakaahs, two rakaahs."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِنْ خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِرَكْعَةٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا مَثْنَى مَثْنَى؟ قَالَ رَكْعَتَانِ رَكْعَتَانِ

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray at night in pairs, and he would perform the Witr prayer with one Rak'ah at the end of the night.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَيُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

[AI] A man called the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, how do you command us to pray during the night?" He replied, "Each of you should pray two units of prayer, then when dawn approaches, pray one unit of prayer. That will complete what he has prayed."

نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا نُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ؟ قَالَ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ يُصَلِّي وَاحِدَةً فَأَوْتَرَتْ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the night prayer. The Prophet replied, "The night prayer is performed in sets of two. After every two units, you should make the Taslim (saying the Salaam). And when you fear the approaching dawn, pray one unit of prayer which will complete and perfect your night prayer."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَبْلَهَا

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the prayer at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears the morning is near he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him. سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ صَلَاتَهُ

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the night prayer. The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The night prayer is performed in pairs. You offer Salaam after every two units (rak'ahs). And when you fear the beginning of dawn, offer one unit (rak'ah) that will serve as Witr (odd-numbered prayer) for you."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَبْلَهَا

[AI] Ibn Umar asked the Prophet (PBUH) about the night prayer while I was also present between them. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The night prayer is performed two units at a time. And when you fear the approaching dawn, then hasten to offer a single unit of prayer before the Fajr prayer and two units of prayer before the morning prayer."

ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَبَادِرِ الصُّبْحَ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ

He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Prayer at night is two rak'ahs by two rak'ahs, then when you fear tat dawn will break, pray witr with one rak'ah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1695)

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَانِ فَإِذَا خِفْتُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرُوا بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "The night prayer is performed in pairs, pairs. When you fear the approach of dawn, then prostrate in a prostration and perform two units before dawn."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَاسْجُدْ سَجْدَةً وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ

[AI] A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about Al-Watr (The Odd Prayer). The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I used to walk with that man," and then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The night prayer is prayed in pairs and the odd prayer is one rakah." Shu'bah said, "He did not mention towards the end of the night."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْوَتْرِ؟ قَالَ فَمَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَذَاكَ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ لَمْ يَقُلْ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

A man from among the people of the desert asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayer at night. He said:"(It is) two by two, and Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1691)

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

[AI] A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was on the pulpit about the night prayer. He replied, "It is to be performed in pairs." And if one of you fears that he will not wake up until morning, he should pray Witr (the odd-numbered prayer that is performed after Isha prayer)."

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ صَلَّى وَاحِدَةً فَأَوْتَرَتْ لَهُ مَا صَلَّى

“The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the night prayer. He said: ‘Pray two by two, and if you fear that dawn is coming, then perform Witr with one Rak’ah.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1320)

سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً

The Prophet (S) said: "Salat in the night is two by two. So when you fear the dawn (is near) then make it odd by one, and make that the last of your Salat odd." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 437)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ وَاجْعَلْ آخِرَ صَلَاتِكَ وِتْرًا

A man said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! How is the prayer of the night?" He said, "Two rakʿat followed by two rakʿat and so on, and when you apprehend the approaching dawn, offer one rakʿa as witr." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1137)

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said that the night prayer should be performed in pairs. And when the dawn approaches, complete your night prayer with an odd-numbered unit of prayer, which will serve as the Witr prayer for you. Abdullah used to perform the Witr prayer with only one unit.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الْفَجْرَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِرَكْعَةٍ تُوتِرُ لَكَ صَلَاتَكَ قَالَ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يُوتِرُ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayers at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1673)

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[AI] "A man said to Ibn Umar: Indeed, Abu Hurairah claims that Witr (an odd-numbered prayer performed after Isha prayer) is not obligatory. Ibn Umar replied: A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer (Tahajjud). He replied: The night prayer is to be performed in pairs of two rak'ahs, and if you fear the approach of dawn, perform one rak'ah of Witr."

رَجُلٌ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّ الْوَتْرَ لَيْسَ بِحَتْمٍ؟ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

A man said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! How is the prayer of the night?" He said, "Two rakʿat followed by two rakʿat and so on, and when you apprehend the approaching dawn, offer one rakʿa as witr." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1137)

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "The night prayer is to be performed two by two, and when you fear the dawn, then perform one rak'ah. Indeed, Allah, the Most High, loves the odd number."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ

[AI] He heard Ibn Umar say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the night prayer, and he replied, "One of you should pray two units, two units, until he fears the dawn, then he should perform a prostration that prolongs what he has prayed."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ «يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى حَتَّى إِذَا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "How should we pray at night?" He said, "Each of you should pray two rak'ahs and if morning approaches, then offer a single rak'ah (witr prayer)."

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ بِاللَّيْلِ؟ قَالَ «يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ أَوْتَرَ بِرَكْعَةٍ»

[AI] A man called upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "How do you instruct us to pray at night?" He replied, "One of you should pray two units of prayer at a time, and when dawn approaches, let him pray one unit of prayer to complete what he has already prayed at night."

نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ «يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى وَاحِدَةً أَوْتَرَتْ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ»

[AI] A man called the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I was between them, asked: "How is the night prayer?" He said, "Two by two. When you fear the approaching dawn, then pray one rakah and make two prostrations before dawn."

نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا بَيْنَهُمَا كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ «مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ وَاحِدَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ»
