hakim:5784 – ʿAlī b. Ḥamshādh al-ʿAdl > Abū al-Muthanná And Muḥammad b. Ayyūb > Musaddad

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most merciful among my Ummah (nation) towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr, and the strongest of them in the matter of Allah is Umar, and the most modest among them is Uthman, and the most knowledgeable about the Book of Allah is Ubayy bin Ka'b, and the most qualified to distinguish between lawful and unlawful matters is Mu'adh, except that every Ummah has a trustworthy person, and the trustworthy person of this Ummah is Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah." This is an authentic chain, according to the conditions of the two Sheikhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not exclude it using this version. They only agreed on mentioning Abu Ubaidah in the chain, and I have mentioned its reason in the book of Al-Talkhis according to the conditions of Al-Bukhari and Muslim.  

الحاكم:٥٧٨٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُثَنَّى وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَا ثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثَنَا خَالِدُ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أرْحَمُ أُمَّتِي بِأُمَّتِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَشَدُّهُمْ فِي أَمْرِ اللَّهِ عُمَرُ وَأَصْدَقُهُمْ حَيَاءً عُثْمَانُ وَأَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ وَأَفْرَضُهُمْ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ مُعَاذٌ إِلَّا أَنَّ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينًا وَإِنَّ أَمِينَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُوعُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ» هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذِهِ السِّيَاقَةِ وَإِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا بِإِسْنَادِهِ هَذَا عَلَى ذِكْرِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فَقَطْ وَقَدْ ذَكَرْتُ عِلَّتَهُ فِي كِتَابِ التَّلْخِيصِ على شرط البخاري ومسلم

ibnhibban:7137 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > Muḥammad b. Abū Bakr al-Muqaddamī And Muḥammad b. Khālid b. ʿAbdullāh And Muḥammad b. Bashhār Waʾabū Mūsá Qālūā

The Messenger of Allah said: The most merciful of my Ummah towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr; the one who adheres most sternly to the religion of Allah is 'Umar; the most sincere of them in shyness and modesty is 'Uthman; the best judge is 'Ali bin Abu Talib; the best in reciting the Book of Allah is Ubayy bin Ka'b; the most knowledgeable of what is lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh bin Jabal; and the most knowledgeable of the rules of inheritance (Fara'id) is Zaid bin Thabit. And every nation has a trustworthy guardian, and the trustworthy guardian of this Ummah is Abu 'Ubaidah bin Jarrah." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 154)   

السيوطي:٢٨٤٩a –

" أَرأَفُ أُمَّتى بأُمتى أبو بكر، وأَشدُّهم في دين الله عُمر، وأصْدقُهم حياءً عثمانُ، وأقْضاهُم عليُّ بن أبي طالب، وأفرضُهم زيدُ بن ثابت، وأقرؤُهم لكتاب اللهِ أبيُّ بن كعبٍ وأعلمُهم بالحلالِ والحرامِ معاذُ بن جبلٍ، ألا وإِنَّ لكلِّ أُمةٍ أمينًا، وأمينُ هذه الأمِة أبو عبيدَة بن الجراح ".
