[Machine] And about his mother, Umm Kulthum bint Abi Salama, she said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Umm Salamah, he said to her, "I have presented a gift to Najashi of a robe and jewelry made of musk, and I do not see Najashi except that he has passed away, and I do not see anything returned to me except my gift. So if it is returned to me, it is yours." They said: And it was as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and his gift was returned to him. So he gave every woman of his wives a jewelry made of musk, and he gave Umm Salamah the remaining musk and robe.  

وَقَالَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ لَمَّا تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ لَهَا إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ حُلَّةً وَأَوَاقِيَّ مِنْ مِسْكٍ وَلَا أَرَى النَّجَاشِيَّ إِلَّا قَدْ مَاتَ وَلَا أَرَى إِلَّا هَدِيَّتِي مَرْدُودَةً عَلَيَّ فَإِنْ رُدَّتْ عَلَيَّ فَهِيَ لَكِ قَالَوَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَرُدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ هَدِيَّتُهُ فَأَعْطَى كُلَّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ أُوقِيَّةَ مِسْكٍ وَأَعْطَى أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ بَقِيَّةَ الْمِسْكِ وَالْحُلَّةَ  

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me, he said, "I have presented a dress and some bracelets made of musk to the Najashi, and I have not seen him wearing them except after his death. So the gift will be returned, and if it is so, it will be for you." She said, and it happened as the Prophet ﷺ said, the Najashi died and the gift was returned, so the Prophet ﷺ gave a bracelet made of musk to each of his wives and gave the dress and the rest of the musk to Umm Salamah.  

لَمَّا تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ حُلَّةً وَأَوَاقِيَّ مِسْكٍ وَلَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا قَدْ مَاتَ وَسَتُرَدُّ الْهَدِيَّةُ فَإِنْ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ فَهِيَ لَكَ» قَالَتْ فَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَاتَ النَّجَاشِيُّ وَرُدَّتِ الْهَدِيَّةُ فَدَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى كُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ أُوقِيَّةَ مِسْكٍ وَدَفَعَ الْحُلَّةَ وَسَائِرَ الْمِسْكِ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ  

[Machine] About his mother Umm Kulthum, the daughter of Umm Salamah, Umm Salamah reported: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me, he said, "O Umm Salamah, I have presented musk and a garment to Negus, but I do not see him alive, and I do not see my gift except returned to me." Umm Salamah said: As the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, he gave his women folk ornaments and gave me the rest of the musk and the garment.  

عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ لَمَّا دَخَلَ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ لِلنَّجَاشِيِّ مِسْكًا وَحُلَّةً وَلَا أَرَاهُ إِلَّا قَدْ مَاتَ وَلَا أَرَى هَدِيَّتِي إِلَّا سَتُرَدُّ إِلَيَّ» قَالَتْ وَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَعْطَاهُ نِسَاءَهُ أُوقِيَّةً وَأَعْطَانِي سَائِرَ الْمِسْكِ وَالْحُلَّةَ  

[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ married Umm Salamah, he said, "I used to give a gift to Najashi (the ruler of Abyssinia), and I never see it except that it returns to us. I have learned that Najashi has passed away, so I gave him a necklace and a musk pouch. If it returns to us, O Umm Salamah, it is yours." She said, "So it happened as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said: Najashi passed away, and the gift was returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He then sent a musk pouch to each of his wives and sent the necklace. Whatever remained of the musk was given to Umm Salamah."  

لَمَّا بَنَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَهْدَيْتُ لِلنَّجَاشِيِّ هَدِيَّةً وَلَا أُرَاهَا إِلَّا سَتَرْجِعُ إِلَيْنَا أَنَّ النَّجَاشِيَّ فِيمَا أَرَى قَدْ مَاتَ أَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ حُلَّةً وَأَوَاقِيَ مِسْكٍ فَإِذَا رَجَعَتْ إِلَيْنَا يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ فَهِيَ لَكِ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَاتَ النَّجَاشِيُّ وَرَجَعَتِ الْهَدِيَّةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى كُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ أُوقِيَّةَ مِسْكٍ وَبَعَثَ بِالْحُلَّةِ وَمَا بَقِيَ بِالْمِسْكِ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Umm Salamah: "I have gifted some musk and jewelry to the Negus. However, I do not see him alive anymore, and I do not see the gift I sent him. If it is returned to me, then it is for you or for you all." He said this because the Negus had died. When the gift was returned to him, he gave each of his wives a necklace made of musk and gave the rest to Umm Salamah and all of them. He also gave her the jewelry. In another narration by Musaddad, he said: "If it is returned to me, then I think I will distribute it among you all or it is for you." He said this and it was as he said ﷺ.  

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ؓ قَالَ لَهَا إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ أَوَاقٍ مِنْ مِسْكٍ وَحُلَّةً وَإِنِّي لَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا قَدْ مَاتَ وَلَا أَرَى الْهَدِيَّةَ الَّتِي أَهْدَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ إِلَّا سَتُرَدُّ فَإِذَا رُدَّتْ إِلِيَّ فَهِيَ لَكِ أَوْ لَكُنَّ فَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ هَلَكَ النَّجَاشِيُّ ؓ فَلَمَّا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِ الْهَدِيَّةُ أَعْطَى كُلَّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ أُوقِيَّةً مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْمِسْكِ وَأَعْطَى سَائِرَهُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ؓ وَعَنْهُنَّ أَجْمَعِينَ وَأَعْطَاهَا الْحُلَّةَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ مُسَدَّدٍ إِلَّا سَتُرَدُّ عَلَيَّ فَإِنْ رُدَّتْ عَلَيَّ أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ قَسَمْتُهَا بَيْنَكُنَّ أَوْ فَهِيَ لَكِ قَالَ فَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ ﷺ  

"إِنِّى قَدْ أهْديتُ إِلى النَّجاشِى حُلَّةً وأواقِى مِن مِسك، وَلَا أُرَى النَّجَاشِىَّ إِلا قَد مَاتَ، وَلا أُرَى هَديَّتِى إِلا مَردُودَة علىَّ، فَإِن رُدتْ علَّى فَهى لَكِ قَالَهُ لأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ: وَكَانَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَرُدّت عَلَيْه هَدِيّتُهُ فَأعْطَى كُلَّ امَرَأَة مِن نِسَائِهِ أوقِيَّةً مِنْ مِسْك وَأَعْطَى أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ بَقِيَّةَ الْمِسْك والْحُلَّة" .
