hakim:8441Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad b. ʿAwn b. Sufyān al-Ṭāʾī Biḥimṣ > Abū al-Mughīrah ʿAbd al-Quddūs b. al-Ḥajjāj > ʿAbdullāh b. Sālim al-Ḥimṣī > al-ʿAlāʾ b. ʿUtbah al-Yaḥṣibī > ʿUmayr b. Hāniʾ al-ʿAbsī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

When we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he talked about periods of trial (fitnahs), mentioning many of them. When he mentioned the one when people should stay in their houses, some asked him: Messenger of Allah, what is the trial (fitnah) of staying at home? He replied: It will be flight and plunder. Then will come a test which is pleasant. Its murkiness is due to the fact that it is produced by a man from the people of my house, who will assert that he belongs to me, whereas he does not, for my friends are only the God-fearing. Then the people will unite under a man who will be like a hip-bone on a rib. Then there will be the little black trial which will leave none of this community without giving him a slap, and when people say that it is finished, it will be extended. During it a man will be a believer in the morning and an infidel in the evening, so that the people will be in two camps: the camp of faith which will contain no hypocrisy, and the camp of hypocrisy which will contain no faith. When that happens, expect the Antichrist (Dajjal) that day or the next. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4242)

[Machine] A shepherd was grazing his flock in the pasture when a wolf attacked one of the sheep. The shepherd stood between the wolf and the sheep, and the wolf cowered with its tail between its legs. The wolf spoke to the shepherd, saying, "O Abdullah, are you standing in the way of my sustenance that Allah has provided for me?" The man marveled at the fact that a wolf was speaking to him like a human. The wolf then said, "Shall I tell you something even more amazing? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is standing between the two pastures, informing the people about what has happened before." The shepherd led his flock to a corner of the city, and then he went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the incident. The Prophet ﷺ went out to the people and said, "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he has spoken the truth."

[Machine] On the authority of Nu'bayth bin Sharit, on the authority of Hudayfah, he said: "Trials are presented to the hearts, so whichever heart rejects it, a white dot is placed in his heart. And if a heart does not reject it, a black dot is placed in his heart. Then, another trial is presented to the hearts, so if the heart that rejected it in the first instance rejects it again, a white dot is placed in his heart. And if it does not reject it, a black dot is placed in his heart. Then, another trial is presented to the hearts, so if the heart that rejected it in the previous instances rejects it again, it becomes stronger, purer, and whiter, and no trial will harm it thereafter. But if it does not reject it in the previous instances, it becomes more black, corrupted, and inverted. Then, he will neither recognize the truth nor reject falsehood."

[Machine] We have the Messenger of Allah ﷺ warning you about seven tribulations that will occur after me. There will be a tribulation that will arise from Medina, a tribulation that will arise from Mecca, a tribulation that will arise from Yemen, a tribulation that will arise from Sham (Syria), a tribulation that will arise from the East, a tribulation that will arise from the West, and a tribulation that will arise from the heart of Sham, and that is the tribulation of Sufyani. Ibn Mas'ood said, "Among you there are those who will witness its beginning and from this Ummah (nation) there are those who will witness its end." Al-Walid ibn 'Ayyash said, "So the tribulation of Medina occurred with Talhah and Az-Zubayr, and the tribulation of Mecca occurred with the tribulation of Abdullah ibn Az-Zubayr, and the tribulation of Sham occurred with the Banu Umayyah, and the tribulation of the East occurred with these (people)."

[Machine] The first thing you lose from your religion is humility, and the last thing you lose from your religion is prayer. The threads of Islam will be unraveled one by one, and eventually women will lead prayer while menstruating. You will follow the path of those before you, step by step, not deviating from their path. And their path will not lead you astray, until there remain two sects from many different sects. And one of them will say, "What is the matter with the five daily prayers? Those who came before us have gone astray. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, commanded to establish the prayer halfway through the day and at both ends of the night." [Surah Hud 114]. Do not pray except three times. And the other sect will say, "The belief of the believers in Allah is like the belief of the angels. There is no disbelief or hypocrisy among us. This is the right of Allah to gather them with the Antichrist."

Amr bin Dali' and his mother, Athkala, said, 'Have you ever been busy with the people except for Al-Mudhar?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Are you not from the warriors of Khassafah?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'So when you see Qays dominating the Sham, then be cautious.'"

He said, "By Allah, they will not leave a harmful wrongdoing against an obedient slave of Allah except that they will kill him or cause him trials until Allah will cause harm to them and the believers, until they do not refrain from committing sins." A man said, "Do you say this while you are a man from Mudar?" He replied, "I only say what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said."

[Machine] Abu Al-Mujjah narrated that Abdan narrated that Abdullah narrated that Awf narrated from Abu Al-Minhaal, who narrated from Abu Barzah Al-Aslami, who said: "Indeed, that which is in Sham (referring to Marwan) by Allah, he fights only for the sake of worldly gains. And that which is in Makkah (referring to Ibn Zubayr), he fights only for the sake of worldly gains. And those whom you call your reciters, by Allah, they fight only for the sake of worldly gains." So my father said to him, "Then what do you command us to do?" He replied, "I see no good in people except as a masked group." He also said, holding his cloak, "Their bellies are filled with the people's wealth, and their hearts are devoid of sincerity." This narration is found in the condition of Sahih Bukhari and Muslim.

By Allah, I have the best knowledge amongst people about every turmoil which is going to appear in the period intervening me and the Last Hour; and it is not for the fact that Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me something confidentially pertaining to it and he did not tell anybody else about it, but it is because of the fact that I was present in the assembly in which he had been describing the turmoil. and he especially made a mention of three turmoils which would not spare anything and amongst these there would be turmoils like storms in the hot season. Some of them would be violent and some of them would be comparatively mild. Hudhaifa said: All (who were present) except I have gone (to the next world). (Using translation from Muslim 2891a)
