13. Book of Fasting (2/6)
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it was narrated that he used to say, "The game meat from the land is halal (permissible) for you, but you are forbidden from it if you did not hunt it or it was not hunted for you."
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic sentence into English is:
"Yes, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was presented with ostrich eggs as a gift, but he returned them as they were deemed haram (prohibited)."
I asked AbulAshhab: Did AbdurRahman ibn Tarafah meet his grandfather Arfajah? He replied: Yes. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4233)
“I asked Jabir bin ‘Abdullah about hyenas: ‘Are they game (that can be hunted)?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Can I eat them?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Is this something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3236)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The hyena is a prey, so if it is caught by a person in the state of ihram (pilgrim sanctity), there is a compensation of a mature sheep and it can be eaten."
[Machine] Ibn Abbas said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaved his head while he was in a state of ihram."
[Machine] The Prophet, peace be upon him, performed "Ihtijam" while he was in a state of "Ihram" (ritual consecration) on the back of his feet to alleviate pain that he was experiencing.
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ ordered a sanctified person to kill a snake in the sacred area of Mina."
We came out for performing hajj along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we reached al-Araj, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ alighted and we also alighted. Aisha sat beside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I sat beside my father (AbuBakr). The equipment and personal effects of AbuBakr and of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were placed with AbuBakr's slave on a camel. AbuBakr was sitting and waiting for his arrival. He arrived but he had no camel with him. He asked: Where is your camel? He replied: I lost it last night. AbuBakr said: There was only one camel, even that you have lost. He then began to beat him while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was smiling and saying: Look at this man who is in the sacred state (putting on ihram), what is he doing? Ibn AbuRizmah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke nothing except the words: Look at this man who is in the sacred state (wearing ihram), what is he doing? He was smiling (when he uttered these words). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1818)
[Machine] "We used to cover our faces from men and we used to comb our hair before that in ihram."
I heard ʿUmar bin al-Khattab say: Why are we running now and uncovering our shoulders (in tawaf) when Allah has caused Islam to prevail and has eliminated kufr and its people? Whatever the case, we will never give up something that we did at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Aḥmad 317)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to face the Stone, then he put his lips on it and wept for a long time. Then he turned and saw ‘Umar bin Khattab weeping. He said: ‘O ‘Umar, this is the place where tears should be shed.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2945)
[Machine] We entered Mecca in the morning. The Prophet ﷺ came to the door of the mosque and I handed over his mount to him. Then he entered the mosque and began by touching the Black Stone and kissing it. Then he performed Tawaf (circumambulation) three times and walked quickly between the two hills of Safa and Marwa four times until he finished. When he finished, he kissed the Black Stone again and placed his hands on it and wiped his face with them.
[Machine] Abu Asim Al-Nabil narrated that Ja'far ibn Abdullah, son of Al-Hakam, said: "I saw Muhammad ibn Abbad ibn Ja'far kiss the stone and prostrate on it. Then he said, 'I saw your uncle Ibn Abbas kiss it and prostrate on it.' Ibn Abbas said, 'I saw Umar ibn Al-Khattab kiss it and prostrate on it, and then he said, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do the same, so I did it.'"
[Machine] He informed him that he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "O our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
[Machine] Ibn Abbas used to say, "Preserve this hadith and he used to recite it to the Prophet ﷺ and he used to recite it between the two corners, 'O Lord, suffice me with what You have provided for me, bless it for me, and make it replace every loss for me with something better.'"
[Machine] The translation of the Arabic text "أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَبَّلَ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ وَوَضَعَ خَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ" into English is: "That the Messenger of Allah kissed the Yemeni corner and placed his cheek on it."
[Machine] The translation is as follows: It is narrated that the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, used to when circumambulating the Ka'bah, he would touch or he said he would grasp the Black Stone and the Corner in every circumambulation.
He heard the Messenger of Allah saying: "Indeed the Corner and the Maqam are two corundums from the corundum of Paradise. Allah removed their lights, and if their lights had not been removed then they would illuminate what is between east and the west." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 878)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Al-Rukn and al-Maqaam are two rubies from the jewels of Paradise."
He heard the Messenger of Allah saying: "Indeed the Corner and the Maqam are two corundums from the corundum of Paradise. Allah removed their lights, and if their lights had not been removed then they would illuminate what is between east and the west." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 878)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this stone has a tongue and lips that will bear witness on the Day of Judgment for the one who takes possession of it."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The Cornerstone (al-Rukn) on the Day of Judgment will come with a greater size than Mount Abu Qubays, and it will have a tongue and lips to speak about whomever it received with intention, and it is on the right side of Allah with which He shakes hands with His creation.' This hadith has been narrated by a reliable commentator, although it is not a condition of the two shaykhs (referring to Abu Bakr and Umar). They did not argue with Abu Haroon Umarah bin Juwayn Al-Abdi about it."
ʿUmar came near the Black Stone and kissed it and said "No doubt, I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit anyone nor harm anyone. Had I not seen Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissing you I would not have kissed you." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1597)
[Machine] "I used to worship him, so if there was something in the house, I would send it to him. And when there was a day with good milk, I would send it to him, and they had a disagreement among the Quraysh when they wanted to place it, to the point that it almost led to a fight with swords among them. So he said, let the first man to enter from the door decide. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and they said, this is the trustworthy one, and they used to call him the trustworthy in the era of ignorance. So they said, O Muhammad, we are pleased with you. So he called for a garment, spread it out, and placed the stone on it, then he said, each tribe should hold a corner of the garment except for him, because he is the one who should place it. Then they did so, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it and placed it with his own hand."
[Machine] When Uthman was killed, the people were extremely alarmed on that day. The sword of peace among us was greatly shaken. I sat in my house when a need arose for me in the market, so I went out. Then, in the shade of the palace, I saw a group of about forty men sitting. There was a chain hung on the door. I wanted to enter, but the gatekeeper stopped me. The people said, "Let him in," so I entered. Then, the leaders of the people and their faces appeared. A beautiful man came in without a shirt or turban and sat down. It was Ali bin Abi Talib. Then he said, "When Ibrahim wanted to build the Kaaba, he faced a difficulty and did not know what to do. Allah sent tranquility, which was a pleasant breeze. He used it as a foundation and built upon it every day. Makkah was extremely hot. When he reached the place of the stone, he told Ismail to go and search for a stone and put it here. Ismail went to search for it and Jibril came with the stone and placed it. Ismail asked, 'Who brought this? From where is this stone brought?' He said, 'This is brought by the one who does not depend on my building and your building.' So, he built it. Then it was demolished by the giants, then they built it. Then it was demolished by a flood and they rebuilt it. When Quraysh wanted to put the stone, they argued about its placement. The first one who exits from this door will place it." So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ exited from the side of Banu Shaybah, ordered a cloth to be spread, and placed the stone in the middle of it. Then, he ordered a man from each tribe of Quraysh to hold a corner of the cloth, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it with his own hands and placed it. The scholars have agreed on narrating this long hadith from Ayoub Al-Sakhtiani and Kathir bin Kathir from Sa'eed bin Jubayr from Ibn Abbas about the story of building the Kaaba. This incident is different from the others.

The Prophet said: "Stoning the Jimari and Sa'i between As-Safa and Al-Marwah are only done for the establishment of Allah's remembrance." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 902)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Circumambulating the Ka'bah is a form of worship, except that Allah has permitted you to speak during it. So, whoever speaks, let them only speak good."
the Prophet said: "Tawaf around the House is similar to Salat except that you talk during it. So whoever talks in it, then let him not say but good." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 960)
[Machine] "Because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ circumambulated the Kaaba from behind it," Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted, said, "And let them go around the ancient House" (Surah Al-Hajj, 22:29).
[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the Kaaba and saw a man leading another man with a belt around his nose. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cut the belt with his hand and then ordered him to lead him by his hand. It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was circumambulating (tawaf) while holding onto a walking stick, or a leg, or a thread, or something else. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cut it and said, "Hold onto it with your hand." Ibn Jurayj said: Sulayman al-Ahwal informed me of this hadith, and Tawus also informed him that Ibn Abbas said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every path and valley in Makkah is a sacred site."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever performs Hajj from Makkah on foot and returns to Makkah, Allah will write for him for every step seven hundred good deeds. Each good deed is equivalent to the good deeds of the Sacred Mosque." It was asked, "What are the good deeds of the Sacred Mosque?" He said, "Each good deed is equivalent to a hundred thousand good deeds."
[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be one day before the pilgrimage season, he would address the people and inform them about their rituals."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ performed five prayers in Mina."
[Machine] That the imam should pray Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, the last Fajr prayer in Mina, then proceed to Arafah and face the direction where he had completed his obligations. When the sun sets, he should address the people, then pray Dhuhr and Asr together. Then he should stand in Arafah until the sun disappears. After that, he should proceed to Muzdalifah and pray there or wherever Allah has ordained. Then he should stand in congregation until dawn and depart before sunrise. When he throws the Jamrat al-Aqaba, everything that is prohibited for him becomes permissible except women and perfume, until he visits the House.
[Machine] Did people not know, or did they forget? And the one who sent Muhammad ﷺ with the truth, "I certainly went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Mina to Arafah, and he did not abandon performing the circumambulation (tawaf) until he cast the pebbles at the Jamarat, except that he mixed it with takbeer or tahleel."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Raise those who are suffering from hunger and distance yourselves from those who overeat."
[Machine] "Regarding the 'urunat', it means to not stand on one leg. As for the statement 'an muhassir', it means descending in a group except if they descend individually."
“We were standing in a place that was far from the place of standing. Ibn Mirba’ came to us and said: ‘I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to you. He said: “Stay where you are today for today you are on the legacy of Ibrahim.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3011)
"I came to the Prophet in Jam (Al-Muzdalifah) and said: 'Is there Hajj for me?' He said: 'Whoever offers this prayer with us and observed this standing until he departed, and he departed before that from Arafat by night or by day, then his Hajj is complete. And he has completed the prescribed duties.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3042)
I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the place of halting, that is, al-Muzdalifah. I said: I have come from the mountains of Tayy. I fatigued my mount and fatigued myself. By Allah, I found no hill (on my way) but I halted there. Have I completed my hajj? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Anyone who offers this prayer along with us and comes over to Arafat before it by night or day will complete his hajj and he may wash away the dirt (of his body). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1950)
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in a specific place, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I came from Jabal Tayyi', wearing out my mount and exhausting myself. By Allah, there is not a single mountain among those mountains that I did not stand upon." He said, "Whoever reaches this prayer with us, meaning the Fajr prayer, and has already come to 'Arafah, whether at night or during the day, then he has completed his Hajj and fulfilled its obligations." And Urwah ibn Al-Mudarris continued in narrating this tradition from the companions, specifically from 'Abdullah ibn Ya'mar Al-Dawli.
"I saw the prophet in Arafat when some people from Najd coame to him. They told a man to ask him about Hajj. He said: "Hajj is Arafat. Whoever comes on the night of Jam (Al-Muzdalifah) before Subh prayer, then he has caought up with Hajj. And the days of Mina are three days. But whoever hastens to leave in two days, there is no sion on him, and whoever stays on, there is no sino on him.' Then he made a man ride behind him, and he started proclaiming it to the people." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3044)
[Machine] The Quraysh used to only go from Muzdalifah and say, "We are exempt from leaving the sanctuary," even though they had left the standing place in Arafat. He ﷺ said, "So I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Jahiliyyah standing with the people in Arafat on a camel he had. Then he would spend the morning with his people in Muzdalifah, standing with them and pushing when they pushed."
There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of 'Arafa. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these want? (Using translation from Muslim 1348)
[Machine] "To me, Sir, what is wrong with people that I do not hear them respond?" So I said, "They fear Muawiyah." Then Ibn Abbas came out of his tent and said, "Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Indeed, they have abandoned the Sunnah out of hatred for Ali."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at Arafat, and when he said "Labbaik Allahumma labbaik", he said, "Verily, the best is the good of the Hereafter." Al-Bukhari narrated this with the chain of Ikrima, and Muslim narrated it with the chain of Dawud. This hadith is authentic and they both did not exclude it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, Allah takes pride in the people of Arafat - the people of the heavens - and He says to them: Look at my servants who have come to me with disheveled hair and covered in dust."
