We set out in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ five days before the end of Dhul Qa'da intending to perform Hajj only. When we approached Mecca Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered those who did not have the Hadi (i.e. an animal for sacrifice) with them, to perform the Tawaf around the Kaʿba, and between Safa and Marwa and then finish their Ihram. Beef was brought to us on the day of (i.e. the days of slaughtering) and I asked, "What is this?" Somebody said, Messenger of Allah ﷺ has slaughtered (a cow) on behalf of his wives."

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ تَقُولُ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِخَمْسِ لَيَالٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ وَلاَ نُرَى إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا مِنْ مَكَّةَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ إِذَا طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَسَعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ أَنْ يَحِلَّ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَدُخِلَ عَلَيْنَا يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا فَقَالَ نَحَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ قَالَ يَحْيَى فَذَكَرْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ لِلْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَالَ أَتَتْكَ وَاللَّهِ بِالْحَدِيثِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ

I heard ʿAisha saying, "Five days before the end of Dhul-Qa'da we set out from Medina in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the intention of performing Hajj only. When we approached Mecca, Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered those who had no Hadi with them to finish their lhram after performing Tawaf of the Kaʿba and (Saʿi) and between Safa and Marwa." ʿAisha added, "On the day of Nahr (slaughtering of sacrifice) beef was brought to us. I asked, 'What is this?' The reply was, 'Allah's Apostle ﷺ has slaughtered (sacrifices) on behalf of his wives.' "

I heard ʿAisha saying, "We set out (from Medina) along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ five days before the end of Dhul-Qa'da with the intention of performing Hajj only. I heard A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) as saying: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ five days before the end of Dhi Qa'dah, and we did see but that he intended to perform Hajj (only), but as we came near Mecca the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that he who did not have the sacrificial animal with him should put off Ihram after circumambulating the House and running between al-Safa and aI-Marwa (and thus convert his Ihram from that of Hajj to 'Umra). 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: The flesh of cow was sent to us on the Day of Sacrifice (10th of Dhu'I-Hijja). I said. What is this? It was said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed (the cow) on behalf of his wives. Yahya said: I made a mention of this hadith (what has been stated by Umra) to Qasim b. Muhammad, whereupon be said: By Allah, she has rightly narrated it to you.

"We went out with the Messenger of Allah when there were five days left of Dhul-Qa'dah, with no intention other than to perform Hajj. When we were close to Makkah, the Messenger of Allah commanded those who did not have a Hadi (sacrificial animal) with them to exit Ihram after circumambulating the House.''

“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when there were five nights left of Dhul-Qa’dah, intending only to perform Hajj. When we came close, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that whoever did not have a sacrificial animal, then he should exit the Ihram. So all the people exited Ihram, except those who had the sacrificial animal. When the Day of Sacrifice i.e., the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah) came, some beef was brought to us, and it was said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has offered a sacrifice on behalf of his wives.’”

Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said said that Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman told him that she had heard A'isha, umm al-muminin, saying, "We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when there were five nights left in Dhu'l-Qada and we assumed that we must be setting out for hajj. When we got near to Makka, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told everyone that did not have a sacrificial animal with them to leave ihram after they had done tawaf of the House and say between Safa and Marwa." A'isha added, "We were sent some beef on the day of sacrifice. I asked what it was and they said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sacrificed for his wives." Yahya ibn Said said, "I mentioned this hadith to Qasim ibn Muhammad and he said, 'She has given you the complete hadith, by Allah.' "

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and all we could see was that it was the time of Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded those who had brought the sacrificial animals to proceed with their Ihram, and those who did not have a sacrificial animal to enter the state of Ihram after performing the Tawaf. When the Day of Sacrifice came, I was handed the meat of a cow, so I asked, "What is this?" They said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sacrificed on behalf of his wives." Yahya said that Shu'bah narrated from Yahya, and I mentioned this to Qasim and he said, "This narration has come to you on his face." Ibn Numayr said: "There are only five days left of the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah and all we can see is the Hajj."
