أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى إِلَى بَعِيرٍ مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ وَبَرَةً مِنْ جَنْبِ الْبَعِيرِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ وَلَا مِثْلُ هَذِهِ إِلَّا الْخُمُسُ وَالْخُمُسُ مَرْدُودٌ فِيكُمْ

"On the day of Hunain the Messenger of Allah took a hair from the side of a camel and said: 'O you people, it is not permissible for me to take even the equivalent of this from the Fay' that Allah has bestowed upon you, except the Khumus, and the Khumus will come back to you." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: Abu Sallam's name is Mamtur and he is Ethiopian, and Abu Umamah's name is Sudai bin 'Ajlan.
أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ وَبَرَةً مِنْ جَنْبِ بَعِيرٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لاَ يَحِلُّ لِي مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ قَدْرَ هَذِهِ إِلاَّ الْخُمُسُ وَالْخُمُسُ مَرْدُودٌ عَلَيْكُمْ
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ took a portion from the side of a camel and said, "O people, it is not permissible for me to take from what Allah has granted you, the amount of this, except for one-fifth, and one-fifth is to be returned to you."
أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَبَرَةً مِنْ جَنْبِ بَعِيرٍ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ قَدْرَ هَذِهِ إِلَّا الْخُمُسُ وَالْخُمُسُ مَرْدُودٌ عَلَيْكُمْ
[AI] From Abu Salamah al-Bahili, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , from Ubada bin As-Samit who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took on the day of Hunayn a share and a portion of the booty from a camel. Then he said, "O people, indeed it is not permissible for me to take from what Allah has bestowed upon you to the extent of this except the fifth, and the fifth is to be returned to you. So pay the thread and the needle, and beware of belittling even though it may be a rope. Indeed, it will be a burden on its people on the Day of Resurrection. And upon you is to strive in the cause of Allah, for it is a door among the doors of Paradise through which Allah removes distress and grief."
عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْبَاهِلِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ وَبَرَةً مِنْ جَنْبِ بَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ قَدْرَ هَذِهِ إِلَّا الْخُمُسَ وَالْخُمُسُ مَرْدُودٌ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَدُّوا الْخَيْطَ وَالْمَخِيطَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُلُولَ فَإِنَّهُ عَارٌ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْجِهَادِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ بَابٌ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ يُذْهِبُ اللَّهُ بِهِ الْهَمَّ وَالْغَمَّ»

[AI] The Prophet took a portion of the spoils of war from a camel's side on the day of Hunayn and said, "O people, it is not permissible for me to take from what Allah has bestowed upon you the size of this except for one-fifth. And one-fifth is to be returned to you. By Allah, I know how it is to be returned in your best interests."
