I slapped a freed slave of ours. My father called him and me and said: Take retaliation on him. We, the people of Banu Muqarrin, were seven during the time of the Prophet ﷺ,and we had only a female servant. A man of us slapped her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Set her free. They said: We have no other servant than her. He said: She must serve them till they become well off. When they become well off, they should set her free.  

لَطَمْتُ مَوْلًى لَنَا فَدَعَاهُ أَبِي وَدَعَانِي فَقَالَ اقْتَصَّ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّا مَعْشَرَ بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ كُنَّا سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَيْسَ لَنَا إِلاَّ خَادِمٌ فَلَطَمَهَا رَجُلٌ مِنَّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَعْتِقُوهَا قَالُوا إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرَهَا قَالَ فَلْتَخْدُمْهُمْ حَتَّى يَسْتَغْنُوا فَإِذَا اسْتَغْنَوْا فَلْيُعْتِقُوهَا  

[Machine] We were seven people from the Banu Muqarrin tribe during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . We had a servant, and one of us slapped him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Set him free." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.  

كُنَّا بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَنَا خَادِمٌ فَلَطَمَهُ أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] We were the Banu Muqarrin, seven in number, during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . We had a servant who was the only one we had. One of us hit her, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Free her." I said, "We don't have any other servant besides her, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let her serve you until you become independent of her, then set her free."  

كُنَّا بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَنَا خَادِمٌ لَيْسَ لَنَا غَيْرُهَا فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهَا» فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَخْدُمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهَا ثُمَّ خَلُّوا سَبِيلَهَا»  

[Machine] We were seven of Bani Muqarrin during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and we had a servant who was the only one we had. One day, one of us slapped her, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Set her free." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we do not have any other servant except her?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Let her serve you until you can do without her, then set her free."  

كُنَّا بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَنَا خَادِمٌ لَيْسَ لَنَا غَيْرُهَا فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهَا» فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَخْدُمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهَا ثُمَّ خَلُّوا سَبِيلَهَا»  

[Machine] We, the people of the Banu Muqarrin tribe, were seven individuals who had only one servant. One of us slapped her, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Set her free." It was said that they did not have any other servants besides her, to which he said, "Let her serve them, and when they no longer need her, then set her free." This hadith has been narrated from another perspective that does not include this statement.  

كُنَّا مَعْشَرَ بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهَا» فَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ خَادِمٌ غَيْرَهَا قَالَ «لِتَخْدِمْهُمْ فَإِذَا اسْتَغْنَوْا عَنْهَا فَلْيُعْتِقُوهَا» وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ لَيْسَ فِيهِ هَذَا الْكَلَامُ  

" كُنَّا - بَنِى مُقَرِّن - سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ وَلَنَا خَادِمٌ لَيْسَ لَنَا غَيْرُهَا، فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا. فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : أَعْتِقوهَا. فَقُلْنَا: لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرَهَا يَا رَسُولَ الله. فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : نَخْدُمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهَا، ثُمَّ خَلَّوا سَبِيلَهَا ".
