Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any ruler having the authority to rule Muslim subjects dies while he is deceiving them, Allah will forbid Paradise for him."

لَهُ مَعْقِلٌ أُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَا مِنْ وَالٍ يَلِي رَعِيَّةً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَيَمُوتُ وَهْوَ غَاشٌّ لَهُمْ إِلاَّ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ

'Ubaidullah b. Ziyad paid a visit to Ma'qil b. Yasar Muzani in his illness of which he (later on) died. (At this juncture) Ma'qil said: I am going to narrate to you a hadith which I have heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and which I would not have transmitted if I knew that I would survive. Verily I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: There is none amongst the bondsmen who was entrusted with the affairs of his subjects and he died in such a state that he was dishonest in his dealings with those over whom he ruled that the Paradise is not forbidden for him.

مَعْقِلٌ إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ لِي حَيَاةً مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْتَرْعِيهِ اللَّهُ رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لِرَعِيَّتِهِ إِلاَّ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ

Ubaidullah b. Ziyad went to see Ma'qil b. Yasir and he was ailing. He ('Ubaidullah) inquired (about his health) to which he (Ma'qil) replied: I am narrating to you a hadith which I avoided narrating to you (before). Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed: Allah does not entrust to his bondsman the responsibility of managing the affairs of his subjects and he dies as a dishonest (ruler) but Paradise is forbidden by Allah for such a (ruler). He (Ibn Ziyad) said: Why did you not narrate it to me before this day? He replied: I (in fact) did not narrate it to you as it was not (fit) for me to narrate that to you.

إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا لَمْ أَكُنْ حَدَّثْتُكَهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَسْتَرْعِي اللَّهُ عَبْدًا رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ حِينَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلاَّ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ أَلاَّ كُنْتَ حَدَّثْتَنِي هَذَا قَبْلَ الْيَوْمِ قَالَ مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ أَوْ لَمْ أَكُنْ لأُحَدِّثَكَ

Ubaidullah b Ziyad visited Ma'qil b. Yasir al-Muzani in his last iliness. Ma'qil said (to him): I am narrating to you a tradition I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If I knew that I am to survive this illness. I would, not narrate it to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If God appointed anyone ruler over a people and he died while he was still treacherous to his people, God would forbid his entry into Paradise.

“Whoever dies knowing that there is no god but Allah will enter Paradise.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 464)

[AI] He has a fortress I would like to tell you about something I haven't told you before. I heard the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saying, "Any servant whom Allah has placed under his care as a shepherd, and he dies while deceiving them, Allah will forbid Paradise for him."

لَهُ مَعْقِلٌ لَأُحَدِّثَنَّكَ بِحَدِيثٍ لَمْ أُحَدِّثْكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ اسْتَرْعَاهُ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whichever man is entrusted by Allah with the responsibility of a nation, and he dies while being deceitful to them, Allah has forbidden Paradise for him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ اسْتَرْعَاهُ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Allah will not appoint a servant to be in charge of a group of people, and he dies deceiving them, except that Allah will forbid Paradise for him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَنْ يَسْتَرْعِيَ اللهُ عَبْدًا رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever is entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of a group of people (leadership) and dies while deceiving them, Allah has forbidden paradise for him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ اسْتَرْعَاهُ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ»

[AI] Fortress, I inform you of a statement that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If I knew I had any more life, I would not tell you something I heard him say: "There is no servant whom Allah has made responsible for a group of people, and then he dies deceiving them, except that Allah has forbidden Paradise for him." And the wording is by Ali bin Al-Ja'd.

[AI] "A stronghold I see myself in, and I will tell you a story that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, 'There is no one who is entrusted with leadership over a group of people, and he dies while deceiving them, without smelling the fragrance of Paradise or he said, from the people of the Hellfire.' The listener said, 'Why didn't you inform me about this hadith before today?' He replied, 'If it were not for what is in me, I would not have told you.'"

مَعْقِلٌ مَا أُرَانِي لِمَا بِي وَسَأُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ اسْتُرْعِيَ رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلَّا لَمْ يَجِدْ رِيحَ الْجَنَّةِ أَوْ قَالَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ قَالَ فَهَلَّا حَدَّثْتَنِي بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَبْلَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ؟ قَالَ «لَوْلَا مَا بِي مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ»

"مَا اسْترْعَى اللهُ عَبْدًا رَعيةً فَلَمْ يَحُطْ مَن وَرَاءهم بِالنصِيحةِ إِلا حَرَّم الله عليه الْجَنة".

"ما مِنْ عبْدٍ يسْترْعِيهِ اللهُ ﷻ رعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يوْمَ يَمُوُت وهُوَ غَاشٌّ لِرعِيَّتِهِ إِلا حرَّمَ اللهُ علَيهِ الْجنَّة".

"ما مِنْ عبْدٍ اسْترْعاهُ اللهُ رعِيَّةً، فلم يحُطْها بنصِيحة، إلَّا حرَّمَ اللهُ عليهِ الْجَنَّةَ".

"مَنِ اسْتَرْعاه الله -تَعالى- رَعِيَّةً فَمَاتَ وَهُو غَاشٌ لَها، أَدْخَلَهُ الله النَّارَ".

"لا يَسْتَرْعِي اللهُ عَبْدًا رَعِيَّةً فَيَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ لَهَا غَاشٌّ، إِلا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ الجَنَّةَ".
