Some people (i.e. the Jews of Bani bin Quraiza) agreed to accept the verdict of Saʿd bin Muʿadh so the Prophet ﷺ sent for him (i.e. Saʿd bin Muʿadh). He came riding a donkey, and when he approached the Mosque, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Get up for the best amongst you." or said, "Get up for your chief." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Saʿd! These people have agreed to accept your verdict." Saʿd said, "I judge that their warriors should be killed and their children and women should be taken as captives." The Prophet said, "You have given a judgment similar to Allah's Judgment (or the King's judgment).

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ أَنَّ أُنَاسًا نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ فَجَاءَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قُومُوا إِلَى خَيْرِكُمْ أَوْ سَيِّدِكُمْ فَقَالَ يَا سَعْدُ إِنَّ هَؤُلاَءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ فِيهِمْ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ قَالَ حَكَمْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ أَوْ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ

The people of (Banu) Quraiza agreed to accept the verdict of Saʿd bin Muʿadh. So the Prophet ﷺ sent for Saʿd, and the latter came (riding) a donkey and when he approached the Mosque, the Prophet ﷺ said to the Ansar, "Get up for your chief or for the best among you." Then the Prophet ﷺ said (to Saʿd)." These (i.e. Banu Quraiza) have agreed to accept your verdict." Saʿd said, "Kill their (men) warriors and take their offspring as captives, "On that the Prophet ﷺ said, "You have judged according to Allah's Judgment," or said, "according to the King's judgment."

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ؓ يَقُولُ نَزَلَ أَهْلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَأَتَى عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ لِلأَنْصَارِ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ أَوْ خَيْرِكُمْ فَقَالَ هَؤُلاَءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ فَقَالَ تَقْتُلُ مُقَاتِلَتَهُمْ وَتَسْبِي ذَرَارِيَّهُمْ قَالَ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ

When the tribe of Bani Quraiza was ready to accept Saʿd's judgment, Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Saʿd who was near to him. Saʿd came, riding a donkey and when he came near, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said (to the Ansar), "Stand up for your leader." Then Saʿd came and sat beside Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said to him. "These people are ready to accept your judgment." Saʿd said, "I give the judgment that their warriors should be killed and their children and women should be taken as prisoners." The Prophet ﷺ then remarked, "O Saʿd! You have judged amongst them with (or similar to) the judgment of the King Allah."

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ بَنُو قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ مُعَاذٍ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ فَجَاءَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا دَنَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ فَجَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ هَؤُلاَءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ الْمُقَاتِلَةُ وَأَنْ تُسْبَى الذُّرِّيَّةُ قَالَ لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ فِيهِمْ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ

The people of (the tribe of) Quraiza agreed upon to accept the verdict of Saʿd. The Prophet ﷺ sent for him (Saʿd) and he came. The Prophet ﷺ said (to those people), "Get up for your chief or the best among you!" Saʿd sat beside the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ said (to him), "These people have agreed to accept your verdict." Saʿd said, "So I give my judgment that their warriors should be killed and their women and children should be taken as captives." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have judged according to the King's (Allah's) judgment." (See Hadith No. 447, Vol. 5)

أَنَّ أَهْلَ قُرَيْظَةَ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ فَأَرْسَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَيْهِ فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ أَوْ قَالَ خَيْرِكُمْ فَقَعَدَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ هَؤُلاَءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ بِمَا حَكَمَ بِهِ الْمَلِكُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَفْهَمَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِي عَنْ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ مِنْ قَوْلِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ إِلَى حُكْمِكَ

The people of Quraiza surrendered accepting the decision of Sa'd b. Mu'adh about them. Accordingly, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Sa'd who came to him riding a donkey. When he approached the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Ansar: Stand up to receive your chieftain. Then he said (to Sa'd): These people have surrendered accepting your decision. He (Sa'd) said: You will kill their fighters and capture their women and children. (Hearing this), the Prophet ﷺ said: You have adjudged by the command of God. The narrator is reported to have said: Perhaps he said: You have adjudged by the decision of a king. Ibn Muthanna (in his version of the tradition) has not mentioned the alternative words.

نَزَلَ أَهْلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَأَتَاهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا دَنَا قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِلأَنْصَارِ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ أَوْ خَيْرِكُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلاَءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ تَقْتُلُ مُقَاتِلَتَهُمْ وَتَسْبِي ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ

[Machine] "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a message to Sa'd, and he came to him riding a donkey. When he was near the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Stand up for your leader or the best of you.' Then he said, 'These people have come under your rule.' Sa'd responded, 'Their fighters shall be killed, and their children captured.' The Prophet ﷺ then said, 'You have made a judgment according to the ruling of Allah, and perhaps he also said, 'You have made a judgment according to the ruling of the king.'"

فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَأَتَاهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ قَالَ فَلَمَّا دَنَا قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ أَوْ خَيْرِكُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ تُقْتَلُ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَقَدْ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ

[Machine] "Bani Qurayzah submitted to the judgment of Saad bin Muadh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger to Saad who arrived riding a donkey. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Rise for your best or your master.' Saad replied, 'Indeed, these people have submitted to your judgment.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, I rule on them that their fighters be killed and their offspring be enslaved.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'You have judged them by the judgment of Allah.' And he also said, 'You have indeed judged them by the judgment of the king.'"

أَنَّ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَجَاءَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قُومُوا إِلَى خَيْرِكُمْ أَوْ إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ» قَالَ «إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ قَدْ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ فِيهِمْ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرِّيَّتُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ فِيهِمْ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ» وَقَالَ مَرَّةً «لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ»

[Machine] The Prophet sent Sa'd bin Muadh concerning the matter of Banu Qurayzah. Sa'd came riding on a donkey, with his legs nearly touching the ground. When the Prophet saw him, he said to his companions, "Rise for your master." The Prophet said to Sa'd, "Indeed, these people have accepted your judgment, so pass judgment on them." Sa'd said, "I pass judgment that their fighters be killed and their children be enslaved." The Prophet said, "You have passed judgment according to the judgment of Allah and the judgment of the king."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فِي أَمْرِ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ فَجَاءَ سَعْدٌ عَلَى حِمَارٍ قَدْ كَادَتْ رِجْلَاهُ تَبْلُغانِ الْأَرْضَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ» فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ قَدْ رَضُوا بِحُكْمِكَ فَاحْكُمْ فِيهِمْ» قَالَ أَحْكُمُ فِيهِمْ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَأَنْ تُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللهِ وَحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ»

[Machine] He heard him saying, "When the people of Qurayzah were given the judgment of Sa'd, the Prophet ﷺ came to them riding a donkey and said, 'Indeed, these [people] have come down on your judgment.'" He said, "So surely, I judge that their fighters be killed and their children be taken as captives." He said, "You have judged them with the judgment of a king." Abu Abdullah Al-Rahman said, "Muhammad bin Salih disagreed with him."

أَنَّهَ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَ أَهْلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ قَالَ «حَكَمْتَ فِيهِمْ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ

[Machine] "He heard, when the people of Qurayzah were under the authority of Saad, he came to the Prophet ﷺ riding a donkey and said, 'These people have submitted to your judgment.' He (the Prophet) said, 'I decree to kill their fighters and take their children captive.' He (the man) said, 'You have made a judgment concerning them as a king would.'"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ لَمَّا نَزَلَ أَهْلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ» قَالَ «فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ أَنْ تُقَتَّلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ» قَالَ «حَكَمْتَ فِيهِمْ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ»

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولُ نَزَلَ أَهْلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حَكَمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَتَاهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا دَنَا قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلْأَنْصَارِ «قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ» قَالَ «تُقَتَّلُ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ» قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللهِ» وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ «قَضَيْتَ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ»

[Machine] That the people of Quraysh descended upon Saad's ruling, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to him. Saad came and said, "Rise to your leader or your best." So he sat with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "Indeed, these people have descended upon your ruling." He said, "Indeed, my ruling is that their fighters be killed."

أَنَّ أَهْلَ قُرَيْظَةَ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ أَوْ خَيْرِكُمْ فَقَعَدَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ قَدْ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ بَنُو قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدٍ ؓ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ قَرِيبًا فَجَاءَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا دَنَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قُومُوا إِلَى سَيِّدِكُمْ فَجَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ فِيهِمْ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ الْمُقَاتِلَةُ وَأَنْ تُسْبَى الذُّرِّيَّةُ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ حَكَمْتَ فِيهِمْ بِحُكْمِ اللهِ

"عَنْ أبِى سَعِيد قَالَ: نَزَلَ أهلُ قُرَيْظَةَ عَلَى حُكْم سَعْدِ بنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأرْسَلَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَأتَاهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ، فَلَمَّا أَنْ دَنا قريبًا مِن المَسجِدِ قَالَ رسولُ الله ﷺ قُومُوا إلى سَيدكُم أو خيْرِكُم، ثُمَ قَالَ: إِنَّ هؤلاء قَدْ نزلوا عَلَى حكمكَ، فيقتل مقاتلهم ويسبي ذَرَارِيهِم، فَقَال رسولُ الله ﷺ قَضَيت بحُكم ... (*) وَرُبَمَا قَالَ: قَضَيْتَ بحُكْمِ الله -تَعَالَى-".
