ahmad:12291Hāshim b. al-Qāsim > Ziyād b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUlāthah > Salamah b. And Rdān al-Madanī > Anas b. Mālik

"A man come to the Prophet (saas) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what supplication is best?' He said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter.' Then (the man) came the next day and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what supplication is best?' He said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter.' Then (the man) came the third day and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, what supplication is best?' He said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter, for if you are forgiven and kept safe and sound in this world and the Hereafter, you will have succeeded.'" أحمد:١٢٢٩١حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُلَاثَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ الْمَدَنِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ مِنَ الْغَدِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الْيَوْمَ الثَّالِثَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا أُعْطِيتَهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ أُعْطِيتَهُمَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ فَقَدْ أَفْلَحْتَ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah has His own people among mankind.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who are they?' He said: 'The people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 215)   

أحمد:١٢٢٩٢حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ أَهْلِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَالَ قِيلَ مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ أَهْلُ الْقُرْآنِ هُمْ أَهْلُ اللهِ وَخَاصَّتُهُ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Women and perfume have been made beloved to me, and the coolness of my eyes is in prayer."  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٣حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ سَلَّامٍ أَبِي الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ النِّسَاءُ وَالطِّيبُ وَجُعِلَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ  

ahmad:12294Abū Saʿīd a freed slave of Banī Hāshim > Sallām Abū al-Mundhir al-Qāriʾ > Thābit > Anas

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'In this world, women and perfume have been made dear to me, and my comfort has been provided in prayer.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3939)  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٤حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامٌ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ الْقَارِئُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا النِّسَاءُ وَالطِّيبُ وَجُعِلَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ

[Machine] It has been reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to take two or three breaths after drinking, and Anas used to take three breaths.  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٥حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَزْرَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِذَا شَرِبَ تَنَفَّسَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا وَكَانَ أَنَسٌ يَتَنَفَّسُ ثَلَاثًا

“We used to go to (visit) Anas bin Malik.” (One of the narrators) Ishaq said: “And his baker was standing there.” (In another narration) Darimi said: “And his table was set. He said one day: ‘(Come and) eat, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never saw any thin loaf of bread until he met Allah, nor any roasted sheep (with skin).’”* (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3339)   

أحمد:١٢٢٩٦حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا نَأْتِي أَنَسًا وَخَبَّازُهُ قَائِمٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ

لَنَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ كُلُوا فَمَا أَعْلَمُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى رَغِيفًا مُرَقَّقًا بِعَيْنِهِ وَلَا أَكَلَ شَاةً سَمِيطًا قَطُّ

[Machine] This is how I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying.  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْمَوَّالِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَلَحِّفًا بِهِ وَرِدَاؤُهُ مَوْضُوعٌ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قُلْنَا لَهُ أَتُصَلِّي وَرِدَاؤُكَ مَوْضُوعٌ؟ قَالَ

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي

[Machine] He narrated that a companion of ours went into a ruin to satisfy his need, so he picked up a brick to smell it. It crumbled on him, so he took it and brought it to the Prophet. He informed him about it. The Prophet ordered him to pay the fine and weighed it. It turned out to be two hundred dirhams. The Prophet said, "This is a treasure, and it contains the fifth part."  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٨حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ فَدَخَلَ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا إِلَى خَرِبَةٍ يَقْضِي حَاجَتَهُ فَتَنَاوَلَ لَبِنَةً لِيَسْتَطِيبَ بِهَا فَانْهَارَتْ عَلَيْهِ تِبْرًا فَأَخَذَهَا فَأَتَى بِهَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ زِنْهَا فَوَزَنَهَا فَإِذَا مِائَتَا دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ هَذَا رِكَازٌ وَفِيهِ الْخُمْسُ

[Machine] He informed him that the Prophet ﷺ used to pray Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) when the sun starts to decline. And when he would leave for Makkah, he would pray Dhuhr (noon prayer) by the tree, making two prostrations.  

أحمد:١٢٢٩٩حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيُّ أَنَّ أَنَسًا

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَةَ حِينَ تَمِيلُ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ بِالشَّجَرَةِ سَجْدَتَيْنِ  

ahmad:12300Ṣafwān b. ʿĪsá And Zayd b. al-Ḥubāb > Usāmah b. Zayd > al-Zuhrī > Anas b. Mālik

"The Messenger of Allah came to Hamza on the Day of Uhud, he stood over him and saw that he had been mutilated. He said: Had it not been that Safiyyah would be distressed, then I would have left him to be eaten by the beasts until he was gathered on the Day of Judgment from their stomachs." He said: "Then he called for a Namirah to shroud him with. When it was extended over his head, it left his feet exposed, and when it was extended over his feet, it left his head exposed." He said: "There were many dead and few cloths." He said: "One, two and three men were shrouded in one cloth and buried in one grave." He said: "So the Messenger of Allah was asking which of them knew the most Quran, so he could put him toward the Qibalh." He said: "So the Messenger of Allah buried them and he did not perform (funeral prayers) for them." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1016)   

أحمد:١٢٣٠٠حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى وَزَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَى عَلَى حَمْزَةَ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ فَرَآهُ قَدْ مُثِّلَ بِهِ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَجِدَ صَفِيَّةُ فِي نَفْسِهَا لَتَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى تَأْكُلَهُ الْعَافِيَةُ وَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ تَأْكُلَهُ الْعَاهَةُ حَتَّى يُحْشَرَ مِنْ بُطُونِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ دَعَا بِنَمِرَةٍ فَكَفَّنَهُ فِيهَا قَالَ وَكَانَتْ إِذَا مُدَّتْ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ بَدَتْ قَدَمَاهُ وَإِذَا مُدَّتْ عَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ بَدَا رَأْسُهُ قَالَ فَكَثُرَ الْقَتْلَى وَقَلَّتِ الثِّيَابُ قَالَ فَكَانَيُكَفَّنُ أَوْ يُكَفِّنُ الرَّجُلَيْنِ شَكَّ صَفْوَانُ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ أَكْثَرِهِمْ قُرْآنًا فَيُقَدِّمُهُ إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ قَالَ فَدَفَنَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ فَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ وَالرَّجُلَانِ وَالثَّلَاثَةُ يُكَفَّنُونَ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ  

ahmad:12301Muḥammad b. Abū ʿAdī > Ḥumayd > Anas

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I reached the Lote Tree and its leaves were like the ears of elephants, and its fruits were like pitchers. When Allah covered it with His command, it turned into rubies or emeralds or something similar."  

أحمد:١٢٣٠١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى السِّدْرَةِ فَإِذَا نَبْقُهَا مِثْلُ الْجِرَارِ وَإِذَا وَرَقُهَا مِثْلُ آذَانِ الْفِيَلَةِ فَلَمَّا غَشِيَهَامِنْ أَمْرِ اللهِ مَا غَشِيَهَا تَحَوَّلَتْ يَاقُوتًا أَوْ زُمُرُّدًا أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ

“Rubai, the paternal aunt of Anas, broke the tooth of a girl and they (her family) asked (the girl's family) to let her off, but they refused. They offered to pay compensatory money, but they refused. So they came to Prophet ﷺ who ordered retaliation. Anas bin Nadr said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, will the tooth of Rubai' be broken? By the One Who sent you with the truth, it will not be broken!' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Anas, what Allah has decreed is retaliation.' So the people accepted that and forgave her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'there are among the slaves of Allah those who, if they swear by Allah, Allah fulfills their oath.'” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2649)   

أحمد:١٢٣٠٢حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ الرُّبَيِّعَ عَمَّةَ أَنَسٍ كَسَرَتْ ثَنِيَّةَ جَارِيَةٍ فَطَلَبُوا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ الْعَفْوَ فَأَبَوْا فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ الْقِصَاصُ قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تَكْسِرُ ثَنِيَّةَ فُلَانَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا أَنَسُ كِتَابُ اللهِ الْقِصَاصُ قَالَ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَا تُكْسَرُ ثَنِيَّةُ فُلَانَةَ قَالَ فَرَضِيَ الْقَوْمُ فَعَفَوْا وَتَرَكُوا الْقِصَاصَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ أَبَرَّهُ

[Machine] "To the Prophet ﷺ , I love for you to eat in my house and pray in it." He said, "So he came, and there was a prey of those birds in the house. So he ordered a corner of it to be swept and sprinkled, then he prayed and we prayed."  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٣حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَارُودٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ صَنَعَ بَعْضُ عُمُومَتِي طَعَامًا فَقَالَ

لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ فِي بَيْتِي وَتُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ قَالَ فَأَتَى وَفِي الْبَيْتِ فَحْلٌ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْفُحُولِ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِنَاحِيَةٍ مِنْهُ فَكُنِسَ وَرُشَّ وَصَلَّى وَصَلَّيْنَا  

ahmad:12304Ibn Abū ʿAdī > Sulaymān > Anas

On the day of Badr, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Who will go and see what has happened to Abu Jahl?" Ibn Masʿud went and found that the two sons of 'Afra had struck him fatally. ʿAbdullah bin Masʿud got hold of his beard and said, "'Are you Abu Jahl?" He replied, "Can there be a man more superior to one whom his own folk have killed (or you have killed)?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 3963)  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٤حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَنْ يَنْظُرُ مَا فَعَلَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ؟ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَوَجَدَهُ قَدْ ضَرَبَهُ ابْنَا عَفْرَاءَ حَتَّى بَرَكَ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ بِلِحْيَتِهِ وَقَالَ أَنْتَ أَبا جَهْلٍ؟ قَالَ وَهَلْ فَوْقَ رَجُلٍ قَتَلَهُ قَوْمُهُ أَوْ قَالَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُ  

ahmad:12305Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar And ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > Hishām > ʿAffān > Hishām b. Zayd b. Anas > Anas b. Mālik

By Him in Whose Hand is my life, you are dearest to me amongst the people. He repeated it thrice. (Using translation from Muslim 2509a)   

أحمد:١٢٣٠٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ عَفَّانُ أَخْبَرَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَفَّانُ مَعَهَا ابْنٌ لَهَا فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ فَخَلَا بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَأَحَبُّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ  

ahmad:12306Sulaymān b. Dāwud > Shuʿbah > Hishām b. Zaydqāl > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Zaid said, "I heard Anas ibn Malik say, 'Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about the Ansar (helpers in Medina), 'Indeed, you are among the people whom I love the most.'"  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٦حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ

زَيْدٍقَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْأَنْصَارِ إِنَّكُمْ لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ

[Machine] I speak of it every Sunday, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at the door of the house while we were inside. The leaders of the Quraysh said, "They have a right over you, and you have a right over them the same way, when they seek protection, you grant it to them, and when they make a promise, you fulfill it, and when they judge, they do so with justice. So whoever does not do this from among them, has the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people upon them."  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ أَبِي الْأَسَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي بُكَيْرُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الْجَزَرِيُّ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا مَا

أُحَدِّثُهُ كُلَّ أَحَدٍ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ عَلَى بَابِ الْبَيْتِ وَنَحْنُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ الْأَئِمَّةُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَقًّا وَلَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ حَقًّا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ مَا إِنْ اسْتُرْحِمُوا فَرَحِمُوا وَإِنْ عَاهَدُوا وَفَوْا وَإِنْ حَكَمُوا عَدَلُوا فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ  

ahmad:12308Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Ḥamzah al-Ḍabbī > Anas

[Machine] He said, "Shall I not tell you a speech that may benefit you with Allah? Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he would descend to a place, he would not depart until he had prayed Dhuhr." Muhammad bin 'Amr said, "Even if it is during midday?" He said, "Even if it is during midday."  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ الضَّبِّيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا لَعَلَّ اللهَ يَنْفَعُكَ بِهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا لَمْ يَرْتَحِلْ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ الظُّهْرَ قَالَ فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَإِنْ كَانَ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ؟ قَالَ وَإِنْ كَانَ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ

[Machine] Mithlahu qala faqala Muhammad ibn 'Amr wa-in kana binnisfi nnahar?

Like him, he said, and Muhammad ibn 'Amr said, even if it is in the middle of the day?  

أحمد:١٢٣٠٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمْزَةُ الضَّبِّيُّ قَالَ لَقِيتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ بِفَمِ النِّيلِ وَمَشَى بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو فَذَكَرَ

مِثْلَهُقَالَ فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَإِنْ كَانَ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ؟  

ahmad:12310Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Yaʿlá b. ʿAṭāʾ > Abū Fazārah > Saʾalt Anas > al-Rakʿatayn Qabl al-Maghrib

[Machine] We used to initiate them both during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Shu'bah then said, "I asked him more than once and he said, 'We used to initiate them both and he did not say during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."  

أحمد:١٢٣١٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِي فَزَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسًا عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَبْتَدِرُهُمَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ ثُمَّ قَالَ بَعْدُ وَسَأَلْتُهُ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ فَقَالَ كُنَّا نَبْتَدِرُهُمَا وَلَمْ يَقُلْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ  

ahmad:12311Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Abū Ṣadaqah a freed slave of Anas > Saʾalt Anas

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Zuhr when the sun passed its zenith, and he would pray 'Asr between these two prayers; and he would pray Maghrib when the sun had set, and he used to pray 'Isha' when the twilight had disappeared," then he said straight after that: "And he would pray Fajr when a man could see clearly." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 552)   

أحمد:١٢٣١١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي صَدَقَةَ مَوْلَى أَنَسٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسًا

عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ إِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَالْعَصْرَ بَيْنَ صَلَاتَيْكُمْ هَاتَيْنِ وَالْمَغْرِبَ إِذَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَالْعِشَاءَ إِذَا غَابَ الشَّفَقُ وَالصُّبْحَ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ إِلَى أَنْ يَنْفَسِحَ الْبَصَرُ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , Allah says: "O inhabitants of the Fire, if you had everything that is on the earth and you offered it to ransom yourself, would it not be accepted from you?” They will reply, “Yes.” Then Allah will say, “That is what I wanted from you before when you were still in the loins of Adam - that you should not associate anything with Me in worship, but you used to associate partners with Me."  

أحمد:١٢٣١٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَقُولُ اللهُلِأَهْوَنِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا لَوْ أَنَّ لَكَ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ كُنْتَ تَفْتَدِي بِهِ؟ فَيَقُولُ نَعَمْ فَيَقُولُ قَدْ أَرَدْتُ مِنْكَ مَا هُوَ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ هَذَا وَأَنْتَ فِي صُلْبِ آدَمَ أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكَ بِي فَأَبَيْتَ إِلَّا أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي  

ahmad:12313Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Yaḥyá b. Yazīd al-Hunāʾī > Saʾalt Anas b. Mālik > Qaṣr al-Ṣalāh

[Machine] I used to go out to Al-Kufa to pray two units of prayer before returning. Anas said, "Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on a journey of three miles or three farsakhs, he would pray two units of prayer."  

أحمد:١٢٣١٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْهُنَائِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ عَنْ قَصْرِ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَأُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ وَقَالَ أَنَسٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ مَسِيرَةَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَمْيَالٍ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةِ فَرَاسِخَ شُعْبَةُ الشَّاكُّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ  

ahmad:12314Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Anas

The Iqama for the prayer was announced while a man was talking to Messenger of Allah ﷺ privately. He continued talking in that way till the Prophet's companions slept, and afterwards the Prophet ﷺ got up and offered the prayer with them. (Using translation from Bukhārī 6292)  

أحمد:١٢٣١٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَرَجُلٌ يُنَاجِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَا زَالَ يُنَاجِيهِ حَتَّى نَامَ أَصْحَابُهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى  

ahmad:12315Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. Jabr > Anas b. Mālik Ḥaddath

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take a bath, along with a woman from his wives, from one vessel.  

أحمد:١٢٣١٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ هُوَ وَامْرَأَةٌ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ  

ahmad:12316Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. Jabr Qālasamiʿt Anas

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The sign of faith is love for the Ansar, and the sign of hypocrisy is hatred towards them."  

أحمد:١٢٣١٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ قَالَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ آيَةُ الْإِيمَانِ حُبُّ الْأَنْصَارِ وَآيَةُ النِّفَاقِ بُغْضُهُمْ  

ahmad:12317Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Thābit > Anas b. Mālik

"I heard Anas say: 'The Messenger of Allah said: True patience is that which comes at the first blow."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1869)  

أحمد:١٢٣١٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصَّبْرُ عِنْدَ أَوَّلِ صَدْمَةٍ

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed at the grave of a woman who had been buried.  

أحمد:١٢٣١٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الشَّهِيدِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى قَبْرِ امْرَأَةٍ قَدْ دُفِنَتْ  

ahmad:12319Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him. (Using translation from Muslim 2675e)   

أحمد:١٢٣١٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً  

ahmad:12320Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ubayy bin Ka'b: "Indeed Allah ordered me to recite to you: Those who disbelieve were not going to... (98:1) He said: "And He named me?" He said: "Yes." So he wept. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3792)  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ إِنَّ اللهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ {لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا} [البينة 1] قَالَ وَسَمَّانِي لَكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَبَكَى  

ahmad:12321Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah And Yazīd > Shuʿbah > Qatādah

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Perform the bowing and the prostrations properly. By Allah, I see you from behind me (or from behind my back) when you bow or prostrate." (Using translation from Bukhārī 742)  

أحمد:١٢٣٢١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ  

ahmad:12322Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

I and the Last Hour have been sent like this. Shu'ba said: I heard Qatada as saying in his narration: The excellence of one over the other. And I do not know whether he narrated it from Anas or Qatada himself said so. (Using translation from Muslim 2951a)  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَسَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يَقُولُ فِي قِصَصِهِ كَفَضْلِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَلَا أَدْرِي ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَمْ قَالَهُ قَتَادَةُ  

ahmad:12323Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

The Prophet ﷺ said, "No 'Adwa nor Tiyara; but I like Fal." They said, "What is the Fal?" He said, "A good word." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5776)  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا طِيَرَةَ وَيُعْجِبُنِي الْفَأْلُ قِيلَ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ؟ قَالَ كَلِمَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ  

ahmad:12324Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

Anas said when some meat was brought to the Prophet ﷺ , he asked What is this? He was told this is a thing (meat), which was given as sadaqah to Barirah. Thereupon, he said it is sadaqah for her and a gift to us. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1655)   

أحمد:١٢٣٢٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِلَحْمٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَلَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ  

ahmad:12325Muʿādh b. Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī from my father > Yūnus > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

From Qatadah, that Anas said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never ate on a table, nor on small plates, not did he eat thin bread." He (Yunus) said: "I asked Qatadah: 'So what did he eat on ?' He said: 'On these leather dining sheets.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1788)   

أحمد:١٢٣٢٥حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

مَا أَكَلَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى خِوَانٍ وَلَافِي سُكُرُّجَةٍ وَلَا خُبِزَ لَهُ مُرَقَّقٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ فَعَلَامَ كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ؟ قَالَ عَلَى السُّفَرِ  

ahmad:12326Anas b. ʿIyāḍ > Rabīʿah > Anas b. Mālik /

[Machine] He heard Anas ibn Malik say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away when he was sixty years old, and he had only twenty white hairs on his head and beard.  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٦حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً لَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعْرَةً بَيْضَاءَ  

ahmad:12327Ḥasan al-Ashyab > Ḥammād b. Yaḥyá > Thābit al-Bunānī > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "Verily, the example of my Ummah (nation) is like that of rain, it is not known whether the beginning of it is good or its end."  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٧حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْأَشْيَبُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ مَثَلَ أُمَّتِي مَثَلُ الْمَطَرِ لَا يُدْرَى أَوَّلُهُ خَيْرٌ أَوْ آخِرُهُ

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to call me by a nickname that I used to dislike.  

أحمد:١٢٣٢٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَنِّينِي بِبَقْلَةٍ كُنْتُ أَجْتَنِيهَا  

ahmad:12329Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Anas b. Sīrīn > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] To pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a man said to the Prophet ﷺ , "I am unable to pray with you, so if you come to my house and pray, I will follow your lead." So the man prepared food and invited the Prophet ﷺ , who poured some water on a corner of a mat for them to use as a prayer spot. The Prophet ﷺ then prayed two units of prayer. A man from the family of Jarud said to Anas, "Didn't the Prophet ﷺ used to pray the Duha prayer?" Anas replied, "I only saw him pray it on that day."

أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ فَلَوْ أَتَيْتَ مَنْزِلِي فَصَلَّيْتَ فَأَقْتَدِيَ بِكَ فَصَنَعَ الرَّجُلُ طَعَامًا ثُمَّ دَعَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَنَضَحَ طَرَفَ حَصِيرٍ لَهُمْ فَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ لِأَنَسٍ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّاهَا إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ

رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

أحمد:١٢٣٣١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَبْيَضِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءُ مُحَلِّقَةٌ

“Whoever dies knowing that there is no God but Allah will enter Paradise.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 498)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ اعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ مَنْ مَاتَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

[Machine] "And I heard Anas ibn Malik saying: Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Make things easy and do not make things difficult, and calm people down and do not drive them away."

وَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَسِّرُوا وَلَا تُعَسِّرُوا وَسَكِّنُوا وَلَا تُنَفِّرُوا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was sent and the Hour (Day of Judgment) are like these two," and he extended his index finger and middle finger.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَبَسَطَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray in the folds of the sheep and goats before the mosque was built. (Using translation from Muslim 524b)  

أحمد:١٢٣٣٥حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُبْنَى الْمَسْجِدُ  

ahmad:12336Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿUbaydullāh b. Abū Bakr > Anas b. Mālik

Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the greatest sins or he was asked about the greatest sins. He said, "To join partners in worship with Allah; to kill a soul which Allah has forbidden to kill; and to be undutiful or unkind to one's parents." The Prophet ﷺ added, "Shall I inform you of the biggest of the great sins? That is the forged statement or the false witness." Shuʿba (the sub-narrator) states that most probably the Prophet said, "the false witness." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5977)  

أحمد:١٢٣٣٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْكَبَائِرَ أَوْ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْكَبَائِرِ فَقَالَ الشِّرْكُ بِاللهِ وَقَتْلُ النَّفْسِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَقَالَ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالَ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَالَ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَكْبَرُ ظَنِّي أَنَّهُ قَالَ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ

I was walking with Thibit al-Bunani that he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. And Thibit reported that he walked with Anas and he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. and Anas reported that he walked with Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon. him) and he happened, to pass by children and he greeted them. (Using translation from Muslim 2168c)  

أحمد:١٢٣٣٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَيَّارٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ فَمَرَّ بِصِبْيَانٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَحَدَّثَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَمْشِي مَعَ أَنَسٍ فَمَرَّ بِصِبْيَانٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَحَدَّثَ أَنَسٌ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَرَّ بِصِبْيَانٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ  

ahmad:12338Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar And Muḥammad b. Bakr > Saʿīd > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited a man from drinking while standing. We asked Anas, "What about food?" He replied, "That is even more improper or dirtier." Ibn Bakr said, "Or filthier."  

أحمد:١٢٣٣٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَقُلْنَا لِأَنَسٍ فَالطَّعَامُ؟ قَالَ ذَلِكَ أَشَدُّ أَوْ أَنْتَنُ قَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ أَوْ أَخْبَثُ  

ahmad:12339ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > Yaḥyá b. Hāniʾ > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Maḥmūd

[Machine] I prayed with Anas on Friday and we went to the rows, so we either moved forward or backward. Anas said, "We used to do this at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."  

أحمد:١٢٣٣٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هَانِئٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ مَحْمُودٍ قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَنَسٍ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَدَفَعْنَا إِلَى السَّوَارِي فَتَقَدَّمْنَا أَوْ تَأَخَّرْنَا فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ كُنَّا نَتَّقِي هَذَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ  

ahmad:12340ʿAbd al-Raḥman Mālik > Isḥāq b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Ṭalḥah > Anas b. Mālik

Get up, I shall lead you in prayer. Anas said: I got up and took a mat which had become black on account of long use. I then washed it with water. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon it. I and the orphan (Ibn Abi Dumairah, the freed slave of the prophet) stood in a row behind him. The old women stood behind us. He then led us in two raka'at of prayer and left. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 612)   

أحمد:١٢٣٤٠قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَالِكٌ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ جَدَّتَهُ مُلَيْكَةَ دَعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِطَعَامٍ صَنَعَتْهُ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قُومُوا فَلَأُصَلِّ لَكُمْ قَالَ أَنَسٌ فَقُمْتُ إِلَى حَصِيرٍ لَنَا قَدِ اسْوَدَّ مِنْ طُولِ مَا لُبِسَ فَنَضَحْتُهُ بِمَاءٍ فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُمْتُ أَنَا وَالْيَتِيمُ وَرَاءَهُ وَقَامَتِ الْعَجُوزُ مِنْ وَرَائِنَا فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ
