Jabir bin Abdullah said: “The Messenger of Allah said: 'A Wasq is sixty Sa.' ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1833)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْوَسْقُ سِتُّونَ صَاعًا
Jabir bin Abdullah said: “The Messenger of Allah said: 'A Wasq is sixty Sa.' ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1833)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْوَسْقُ سِتُّونَ صَاعًا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the mountain were to be struck with an iron hammer, it would crumble and then return to its original state. And if a bucket of water from the ocean were poured into the world, you, the people of the world, would not be affected."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ ضُرِبَ الْجَبَلُ بِمَقْمَعٍ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ لَتَفَتَّتَ ثُمَّ عَادَ كَمَا كَانَ وَلَوْ أَنَّ دَلْوًا مِنْ غَسَّاقٍ يُهَرَاقُ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَأَنْتَنَ أَهْلُ الدُّنْيَا
[Machine] "Indeed, the master of the house is safe, so is there anyone among you who can recite Qur'an gracefully? He said, then a man stood up with her whom we did not think could recite it well. So, he went with her and separated from her. Then, he returned healed, so they gave him thirty sheep. He said, and they also used to give us milk to drink. When he came back to us, we said to him, 'Were you able to recite it well?' He said, 'No, I only recited the Opening Chapter of the Book.' Then, I told them, 'Do not disclose anything until we go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' When we arrived, we went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I mentioned it to him. He said, 'He did not know that it was a form of recitation for healing. So, take an oath and shoot an arrow with me.'"
إِنَّ سَيِّدَ الْحَيِّ سَلِيمٌ فَهَلْ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ رَاقٍ؟ قَالَ فَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَجُلٌ مَا كُنَّا نَظُنُّهُ يُحْسِنُ رُقْيَةً فَانْطَلَقَ مَعَهَا فَرَقَاهُ فَبَرِئَ فَأَعْطَوْهُ ثَلَاثِينَ شَاةً قَالَ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَدْ قَالَ وَأَسْقَوْنَا لَبَنًا فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ إِلَيْنَا قُلْنَا لَهُ أَكُنْتَ تُحْسِنُ رُقْيَةً؟ قَالَ لَا إِنَّمَا رَقَيْتُهُ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ لَا تُحْدِثُوا فِيهَا شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَا كَانَ يُدْرِيهِ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ اقْسِمُوا وَاضْرِبُوا بِسَهْمِي مَعَكُمْ
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'All the earth is a mosque, except for graveyards and Hammam.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 745)
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ وَلَمْ يُجِزْ سُفْيَانُ أَبَاهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَرْضُ كُلُّهَا مَسْجِدٌ إِلَّا الْمَقْبَرَةَ وَالْحَمَّامَ
Abu Dawud said “I heard Muhammad bin Isa narrating this tradition who said Mu’tamar narrated it to us. And he (Mu’tamar) said “ I heard Al Hakam bin Aban narrating this tradition. He did not mention the name of Ibn ‘Abbas. Abu Dawud said “Al Hussain bin Huraith wrote to me saying “Al Fadl bin Musa narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ. عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Whoever fasts a day for the sake of Allah, Allah will distance him between him and the Hellfire a distance of seventy autumns."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ بَاعَدَ اللهُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّارِ مَسِيرَةَ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا
“Allah rejoices more over the repentance of His slave, than a man who loses his mount in a barren land, and he searches for it until he gets tired and covers his face with his garment, and while he is like that, he heard the footsteps of his mount where he lost it, so he lifts the garment from his face and there is his mount.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4249)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ أَضَلَّ رَاحِلَتَهُ بِفَلَاةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فَطَلَبَهَا فَلَمْ يَقْدِرْعَلَيْهَا فَتَسَجَّى لِلْمَوْتِ فَبَيْنَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ سَمِعَ وَجْبَةَ الرَّاحِلَةِ حِينَ بَرَكَتْ فَكَشَفَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِرَاحِلَتِهِ
[Machine] The wolf went after a sheep and took it. The shepherd sought after it and snatched it from him. So the wolf fell on its tail and said, "Do you not fear Allah? You took my provision that Allah has sent to me." The shepherd said, "Oh wonder! A wolf speaking to me in human speech!" The wolf said, "Shall I not inform you of something more amazing than that? Muhammad ﷺ is in Yathrib, informing people of news that has already happened." Then the shepherd drove his sheep until they entered the town and took them to a corner of it. Then he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the call to prayer to be made, then he went out and said to the shepherd, "Inform them." So he informed them and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He has spoken the truth, by the One in whose hand is my soul, the Hour will not be established until the beasts speak to humans, and a man's whip and his shoe inform him of what his family has done after him."
عَدَا الذِّئْبُ عَلَى شَاةٍ فَأَخَذَهَا فَطَلَبَهُ الرَّاعِي فَانْتَزَعَهَا مِنْهُ فَأَقْعَى الذِّئْبُ عَلَى ذَنَبِهِ قَالَ أَلَا تَتَّقِي اللهَ تَنْزِعُ مِنِّي رِزْقًا سَاقَهُ اللهُ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ يَا عَجَبِي ذِئْبٌ مُقْعٍ عَلَى ذَنَبِهِ يُكَلِّمُنِي كَلَامَ الْإِنْسِ فَقَالَ الذِّئْبُ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَعْجَبَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ بِيَثْرِبَ يُخْبِرُ النَّاسَ بِأَنْبَاءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ الرَّاعِي يَسُوقُ غَنَمَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَزَوَاهَا إِلَى زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْ زَوَايَاهَا ثُمَّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَنُودِيَ الصَّلَاةُ جَامِعَةٌ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَ لِلرَّاعِي أَخْبِرْهُمْ فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَدَقَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يُكَلِّمَ السِّبَاعُ الْإِنْسَ وَيُكَلِّمَ الرَّجُلَ عَذَبَةُ سَوْطِهِ وَشِرَاكُ نَعْلِهِ وَيُخْبِرَهُ فَخِذُهُ بِمَا أَحْدَثَ أَهْلُهُ بَعْدَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he sees it or knows it." Shu'bah said, "I narrated this hadith to Qatadah and he said, 'What is this?' 'Amr ibn Murrah reported to me from Abu Bakhtari from a man from Abu Sa'id who narrated to me from Abu Nadrah from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he sees it or knows it.' Abu Sa'id said, 'So I carried this to Mu'awiyah and I filled his ears with it, then I returned.' Shu'bah said, 'This hadith was narrated to me by four people from Abu Nadrah: Qatadah, Abu Muslimah, Al-Jurairi, and another man.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مَخَافَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذَا شَهِدَهُ أَوْ عَلِمَهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فَحَدَّثْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ قَتَادَةَ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا؟ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَعَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مَخَافَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذَا شَهِدَهُ أَوْ عَلِمَهُ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَحَمَلَنِي عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَنْ رَكِبْتُ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَمَلَأْتُ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَتَادَةُ وَأَبُو مَسْلَمَةَ وَالْجُرَيْرِيُّ وَرَجُلٌ آخَرُ
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: If one of you has doubt during prayer and does not know whether they have prayed three or four (units), then they should get up and perform one unit of prayer (rakah). He said: Increase (the number of units of prayer) until the doubt is in the increase. Then, they should prostrate for the two prostrations of forgetfulness. If they prayed five (units of prayer), it will make up for their prayer. And if they prayed four, they will be compelled by the Satan.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ ثَلَاثًا صَلَّى أَمْ أَرْبَعًا فَلْيَقُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَةً قَالَ يَزِيدُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ الشَّكُّ فِي الزِّيَادَةِ ثُمَّ لِيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَّى خَمْسًا شَفَعَتَا لَهُ صَلَاتَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا فَهُمَا يُرْغِمَانِ الشَّيْطَانَ
"when there are three people let one of them lead the prayer, and the one who is most entitled to lead the prayer is the one who has most knowledge of the Qur'an." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 782)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ
[Machine] "On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said: Verily, this world is green and sweet. So fear the world and fear women. Beware that every betrayer will have a flag, and indeed the one with the most betrayal among you is the leader of the masses. I have not forgotten his raising of his voice due to it."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَلَا إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ أَلَا فَاتَّقُوا الدُّنْيَا وَاتَّقُوا النِّسَاءَ أَلَا وَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءً وَإِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ذَاكُمْ غَدْرًا أَمِيرُ الْعَامَّةِ فَمَا نَسِيتُ رَفْعَهُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ
[Machine] "The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured captives on the day of the Battle of Uhud, and among them were women married to polytheists. Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refrained and felt guilty towards them. Then, this verse was revealed regarding that matter: 'And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess [i.e., slaves or captives].' (Surah An-Nisa, 4:24)"
أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَصَابُوا سَبَايَا يَوْمَ أَوْطَاسٍ لَهُنَّ أَزْوَاجٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ فَكَانَ أُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَفُّوا وَتَأَثَّمُوا مِنْ غِشْيَانِهِنَّ قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي ذَلِكَ {وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْأَيْمَانُكُمْ} [النساء 24]
أَنَّهُ قَالَ نِسَاءً
[Machine] Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri said, "I saw a vision while I was writing Surah Sad. When I reached the prostration, I saw the cure and the pen and everything in my presence prostrating. I narrated it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he continued to prostrate with it."
أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ رَأَيْتُ رُؤْيَا وَأَنَا أَكْتُبُ سُورَةَ ص قَالَ فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتُ السَّجْدَةَ رَأَيْتُ الدَّوَاةَ وَالْقَلَمَ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِحَضْرَتِي انْقَلَبَ سَاجِدًا قَالَ فَقَصَصْتُهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَسْجُدُ بِهَا
You would tread the same path as was trodden by those before you inch by inch and step by step so much so that if they had entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this also. We said: Messenger of Allah, do you mean Jews and Christians (by your words)" those before you"? He said: Who else (than those two religious groups)? (Using translation from Muslim 2669a)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سَنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ قَالَ فَمَنْ؟
[Machine] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, Safwan ibn Muattal breaks my fasts and strikes me when I pray, and he does not pray Fajr until the sun rises." The Prophet ﷺ sent for Safwan and asked him, "What do you say about this?" Safwan replied, "Regarding her statement that I break her fasts, I am a young man and I have prohibited her from fasting." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ on that day forbade a woman from fasting without her husband's permission. Safwan continued, "Regarding her statement that I strike her during prayer, she recites two Surahs in a manner that distracts me." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If people were to hear her recitation, it would not harm you." Safwan further explained, "Regarding her statement that I do not pray until the sun rises, I have a heavy head and I am from a family known for their heavy heads." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If that is the case, then separate from each other."
جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةُ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُعَطَّلٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ إِنَّ صَفْوَانَ يُفَطِّرُنِي إِذَا صُمْتُ وَيَضْرِبُنِي إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ وَلَا يُصَلِّي الْغَدَاةَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مَا تَقُولُ هَذِهِ؟ قَالَ أَمَّا قَوْلُهَا يُفَطِّرُنِي فَإِنِّي رَجُلٌ شَابٌّ وَقَدْ نَهَيْتُهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ قَالَ فَيَوْمَئِذٍ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ تَصُومَ الْمَرْأَةُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ زَوْجِهَا قَالَ وَأَمَّا قَوْلُهَا إِنِّي أَضْرِبُهَا عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّهَا تَقْرَأُ بِسُورَتَيْنِ فَتُعَطِّلُنِي قَالَ لَوْ قَرَأَهَا النَّاسُ مَا ضَرَّكَ وَأَمَّا قَوْلُهَا إِنِّي لَا أُصَلِّي حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنِّي ثَقِيلُ الرَّأْسِ وَأَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يُعْرَفُونَ بِذَاكَ بِثِقَلِ الرُّءُوسِ قَالَ فَإِذَا قُمْتَفَصَلِّ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand in the noon prayer for the first two units with the recitation of thirty verses in each unit. And in the last two units, he would recite fifteen verses in each unit. And he would stand in the afternoon prayer for the first two units with the recitation of fifteen verses in each unit. And in the last two units, he would recite half of that.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُومُ فِي الظُّهْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ ثَلَاثِينَ آيَةً وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ آيَةً وَكَانَ يَقُومُ فِي الْعَصْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ آيَةً وَفِي الْأُخْرَتَيْنِ قَدْرَ نِصْفِ ذَلِكَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to call out at Arafah like this, meaning by the apparent side of his palm.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو بِعَرَفَةَ هَكَذَا يَعْنِي بِظَاهِرِ كَفِّهِ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting on the Day of Fitr and the Day of Adha. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1721)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ وَيَوْمِ الْأَضْحَى
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade the consumption of leeks, onions, and garlic. We asked, "Is it forbidden?" He replied, "No, but the Prophet ﷺ forbade it."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْكُرَّاثِ وَالْبَصَلِ وَالثُّومِ فَقُلْنَا أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهُ
[Machine] I heard Abu Sa'id say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood in Arafah and began to supplicate in this manner. He placed the back of his hands on his face, raised them above his shoulders and below his ears."
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ يَقُولُ وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِعَرَفَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَدْعُو هَكَذَا وَجَعَلَ ظَهْرَ كَفَّيْهِ مِمَّا يَلِي وَجْهَهُ وَرَفَعَهُمَا فَوْقَ ثَنْدُوَتِهِ وَأَسْفَلَ مِنْ مَنْكِبَيْهِ
[Machine] "We used to supply ourselves with provisions from the outskirts of the pilgrimage until it was almost over."
إِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَزَوَّدُ مِنْ وَشِيقِ الْحَجِّ حَتَّى يَكَادَ يَحُولُ عَلَيْهِ الْحَوْلُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Dhuhr with his companions. Then, a man from among his companions entered and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "What prevented you, O so-and-so, from praying?" He replied by mentioning something that had occupied him. The Prophet ﷺ then stood up to pray and said, "Shouldn't there be a person who gives sadaqah (charity) to him so that he can pray with him?" So, a man from the people stood up and prayed with him.
صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِأَصْحَابِهِ الظُّهْرَ قَالَ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا حَبَسَكَ يَا فُلَانُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ؟ قَالَ فَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا اعْتَلَّ بِهِ قَالَ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا رَجُلٌ يَتَصَدَّقُ عَلَى هَذَا فَيُصَلِّيَ مَعَهُ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَصَلَّى مَعَهُ
"Prices became excessive during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so they said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Set prices for us!' So he said: 'Indeed Allah is Al-Musa'ir, Al-Qabid, Al-Basir, Ar-Razzaq. And I am hopeful that I meet my Lord and none of you are seeking (recompense from) me for an injustice involving blood or wealth.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1314)
غَلَا السِّعْرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا لَهُ لَوْ قَوَّمْتَ لَنَا سِعْرَنَا قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ الْمُقَوِّمُ أَوِ الْمُسَعِّرُ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أُفَارِقَكُمْ وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يَطْلُبُنِي بِمَظْلَمَةٍ فِي مَالٍ وَلَا نَفْسٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever follows a funeral procession should not sit down until the deceased is laid to rest."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةً فَلَا يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have guests." He said, "Eat, store, and give in charity."
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ قَالَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لَنَاعِيَالًا قَالَ كُلُوا وَادَّخِرُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "When you come upon a wall, call out to its owner three times. If they respond, then do not harm the wall. If they do not respond, then take from it without causing harm. And when you come upon a shepherd, call out to them three times. If they respond, then do not drink from their livestock. If they do not respond, then drink without causing harm. And the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Hospitality lasts for three days, and anything beyond that is considered as charity.'"
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَتَيْتَ عَلَى حَائِطٍ فَنَادِ صَاحِبَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنْ أَجَابَكَ وَإِلَّا فَكُلْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ لا تُفْسِدَ وإِذَا أَتَيْتَ عَلَى رَاعٍ فَنَادِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنْ أَجَابَكَ وَإِلَّا فَاشْرَبْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ لا تُفْسِدَ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُاللهِ ﷺ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا بَعْدُ فَصَدَقَةٌ
"No Sadaqah is due on lessthan five Awsuq of dates, no Sadaqah is due on less than five Awaq of silver, and no Sadaqah is due on less than five Dhawd (head) of camels. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2474)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسِ أَوَاقٍ مِنَ الْوَرِقِ صَدَقَةٌ وَلَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسٍ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ صَدَقَةٌ وَلَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسِ أَوْسُقٍ مِنَ التَّمْرِ صَدَقَةٌ
While I was asleep I saw people being presented to me (in a dream) and they wore shirts and some of these reached up to the breasts and some even beyond them. Then there happened to pass 'Umar b. Khattab and his shirt had been trailing. They said: Allah's Messeneer, how do you interpret the dream? He said: (As strength of) faith. (Using translation from Muslim 2390)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ مِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الثَّدْيَ وَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ دُونَ ذَلِكَ وَمَرَّ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجُرُّهُ قَالُوا فَمَا أَوَّلْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ الدِّينُ قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ مَا أُحْصِي مَا سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ
[Machine] It was said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, how do you purify yourself from the well of Bani Sa'dah, which is a well where menstrual cloths, dog meat, and excuses of people are thrown into it?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, water is pure, nothing can make it impure."
قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ يُسْتَقَى لَكَ مِنْ بِئْرِ بُضَاعَةَ بِئْرِ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَهِيَ بِئْرٌ يُطْرَحُ فِيهَا مَحَائِضُ النِّسَاءِ وَلَحْمُ الْكِلَابِ وَعُذَرُ النَّاسِ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon to the people from his pulpit, saying, "O people, I had been shown the Night of Qadr (Decree) and then I forgot its date. I saw in my dream that I had two golden bracelets in my hands and I disliked them, so I blew on them and they flew away. I interpreted them as two lying individuals, the ruler of Yemen and the ruler of Yamamah."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَيَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي قَدْ أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ فِي ذِرَاعِي سِوَارَيْنِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَكَرِهْتُهُمَا فَنَفَخْتُهُمَا فَطَارَا فَأَوَّلْتُهُمَا هَذَيْنِ الْكَذَّابَيْنِ صَاحِبَ الْيَمَنِ وَصَاحِبَ الْيَمَامَةِ
[Machine] About his aunt Zainab bint Kaab, and she was with Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri. Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri said, "Ali complained to the people." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us as a preacher and I heard him saying, "O people, do not complain about Ali, for by Allah, he is brave in the cause of Allah or for the sake of Allah."
عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ كَعْبٍ وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ اشْتَكَى عَلِيًّا النَّاسُ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِينَا خَطِيبًا فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَا تَشْكُوا عَلِيًّا فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهُ لَأُخَيْشِنٌ فِي ذَاتِ اللهِ أَوْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ
"It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you perform Wudu' from the well into which the bodies of dogs, menstrual rags and garbage are thrown?' He said: 'Water is pure and it is not made impure by anything.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 326)
أَنَّهُ قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ بِئْرِ بُضَاعَةَ وَهِيَ بِئْرٌ يُطْرَحُ فِيهَا الْمَحِيضُ وَلُحُومُ الْكِلَابِ وَالنَّتْنُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ
he heard the Prophet say: ”There is no sadaqah on anything less than five Awsaq of dates, five Awaq of silver and five camels.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1793)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا صَدَقَةَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسَةِ أَوْسُقٍ مِنَ التَّمْرِ وَلَا فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسِ أَوَاقٍ مِنَ الْوَرِقِ وَلَا فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسٍ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ
[Machine] "He bought a sheep to sacrifice it, then the wolf ate from its tail or his own tail. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him, and he said, sacrifice it."
أَنَّهُ اشْتَرَى كَبْشًا لِيُضَحِّيَ بِهِ فَأَكَلَ الذِّئْبُ مِنْ ذَنَبِهِ أَوْ ذَنَبَهُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ ضَحِّ بِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Misfortune will continue to strike the servants of Allah until there is no name worshipped but Allah, and the believers will continue to strike them until they no longer hinder the practice of any religion."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَتَضْرِبَنَّمُضَرُ عِبَادَ اللهِ حَتَّى لَا يُعْبَدَ لِلَّهِ اسْمٌ وَ لَيَضْرِبَنَّهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّى لَا يَمْنَعُوا ذَنَبَ تَلْعَةٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade excessive proximity, and said, "Whoever does not have a need for proximity, let him maintain distance from sorcery to sorcery." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, you practice proximity." He replied, "I am not like you. I have a sustainer who feeds me and a leg that quenches my thirst."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بُدٌّ مِنَ الْوِصَالِ فَلْيُوَاصِلْ مِنَ السَّحَرِ إِلَىالسَّحَرِ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ لي مُطْعِمٌ يُطْعِمُنِي وَسَاقٍ يَسْقِينِي
[Machine] The prophet ﷺ said during the Battle of Uhud: "The virgin girl should not be married until she reaches a maturity where she can carry a child, and the pregnant woman should not be divorced until she gives birth."
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ أَوْطَاسٍ لَا تُوطَأُ الْحُبْلَى حَتَّى تَضَعَ وَلَا غَيْرُ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَتَّى تَحِيضَ حَيْضَةً
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, a person should not be prevented by the fear of people if he knows the truth, from standing up for it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ رَجُلًا رَهْبَةُ النَّاسِ إِنْ عَلِمَ حَقًّا أَنْ يَقُومَ بِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us to travel during the year of the conquest. We fasted for two consecutive days in the month of Ramadan until we reached the area of Kada. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to break our fast. People among us were fasting and some were not, until we reached a certain place close to the enemy's territory. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to break our fast, and we all broke our fast.
آذَنَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالرَّحِيلِ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي لَيْلَتَيْنِ خَلَتَا مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَخَرَجْنَا صُوَّامًا حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْنَا الْكَدِيدَ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْفِطْرِ فَأَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ مِنْهُمُ الصَّائِمُ وَمِنْهُمُ الْمُفْطِرُ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ أَدْنَى مَنْزِلٍ تِلْقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ وَأَمَرَنَا بِالْفِطْرِ فَأَفْطَرْنَا أَجْمَعِينَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to march on the Year of Conquest during two nights that occurred in the month of Ramadan. We left while observing fasting until we reached Al-Kadid. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to break our fast. People became divided into two groups: the fasting ones and those who broke their fast.
أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالرَّحِيلِ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي لَيْلَتَيْنِ خَلَتَا مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَخَرَجْنَا صُوَّامًا حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا الْكَدِيدَ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْفِطْرِ فَأَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ شَرْحَيْنِ مِنْهُمُ الصَّائِمُ وَالْمُفْطِرُ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: "Sami Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd, mil'as-samawati wa mil'al-ardi wa mil'ama shi'ta min shai'in ba'd. Athlath-thana'i wal-majdi khairu ma qalal-'abdu wa kulluna laka 'abdun la mani'a lima a'taita wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minkal-jadd (Allah hears the one who praises Him; Our Lord, to You be the Praise, filling the heavens, filling the Earth, and filling whatever else You will, Lord of Glory and Majesty, the truest thing a slave had said, and we are all slaves to You. None can withhold what You grant, nor can the possession of an owner benefit him before You.)" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1068)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ قَالَ اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَمِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ أَهْلَ الثَّنَاءِ وَالْمَجْدِ أَحَقُّ مَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ وَكُلُّنَا لَكَ عَبْدٌ لَا نَازِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ قَالَ اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَمِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ أَهْلَالثَّنَاءِ وَالْمَجْدِ أَحَقُّ مَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ؟ وَكُلُّنَا لَكَ عَبْدٌ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Indeed, the people who love one another will be seen in their rooms in Paradise like a bright shining star in the eastern or western horizon. It will be said, 'Who are these?' And it will be said, 'These are the people who love one another for the sake of Allah.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الْمُتَحَابِّينَ لَتُرَى غُرَفُهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَالْكَوْكَبِ الطَّالِعِ الشَّرْقِيِّ أَوِ الْغَرْبِيِّ فَيُقَالُ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ؟ فَيُقَالُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي اللهِ ﷻ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If anyone of you has doubts about his prayer, he should cast aside the doubt and be certain about it, and then offer two prostrations (sajdahs). If he prayed five obligatory prayers, by offering these two prostrations, they will complete them. However, if he prayed four sunnah prayers, they will be an admonition to the devil."
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيُلْقِ الشَّكَّ وَلْيَبْنِ عَلَى الْيَقِينِ وَلْيُصَلِّ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ خَمْسًا شَفَعَ بِهِمَا وَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَّى َأَرْبَعًا كَانَتَا تَرْغِيمًا لِلشَّيْطَانِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when you see it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مَخَافَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ الْحَقَّ إِذَا رَآهُ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned musk and said, "Is it not from the finest of fragrances?"
ذُكِرَ الْمِسْكُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَوَلَيْسَ مِنْ أَطْيَبِ الطِّيبِ
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was more modest than a virgin in her chamber. If he disliked something, that could be seen in his face.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4180)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَشَدَّ حَيَاءً مِنْ عَذْرَاءَفِي خِدْرِهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا كَرِهَ شَيْئًا عَرَفْنَاهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ
That the Prophet ﷺ said, "No Caliph is appointed but has two groups of advisors: One group advises him to do good and urges him to adopt it, and the other group advises him to do bad and urges him to adopt it; and the protected is the one whom Allah protects." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6611)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَا اسْتُخْلِفَ مِنْ خَلِيفَةٍ إِلَّا كَانَتْ لَهُ بِطَانَتَانِ بِطَانَةٌ تَأْمُرُهُ بِالْخَيْرِ وَتَحُضُّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَبِطَانَةٌ تَأْمُرُهُ بِالشَّرِّ وَتَحُضُّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَالْمَعْصُومُ مَنْ عَصَمَ اللهُ
