أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى مَا أَحْدَثَ النِّسَاءُ مَنَعَهُنَّ كَمَا مُنِعَ نِسَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَمْرَةَ وَنِسَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مُنِعْنَ الْمَسْجِدَ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ
15.01. ʿĀʾishah b. Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ؓ (33/49)

'The best (most pure) food a man consumes is that which he has earned himself, and his child (and his child's wealth) is part of his earnings." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2137)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ أَطْيَبَ مَا أَكَلَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ وَوَلَدُهُ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ
[Machine] I saw him on the garment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it contained semen, so I scraped it off and Yahya said to rub it.
كُنْتُ أَرَاهُ عَلَى ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَنِيَّ فَأَحُكُّهُ وَقَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً فَأَفْرُكُهُ
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) kissed (his wives) while fasting. (Using translation from Muslim 1106m)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to do this, meaning in the rubbing of semen."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَحْوَ هَذَا يَعْنِي فِي فَرْكِ الْمَنِيِّ
[Machine] "Aisha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , said: 'I have two neighbors, to which one should I give a gift?' He (the Prophet) replied: 'The one closest to you in proximity.'"
عَائِشَةُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ لِي جَارَيْنِ إِلَى أَيِّهِمَا أُهْدِي قَالَ أَقْرَبُهُمَا مِنْكِ بَابًا
[Machine] I said to a person who was dividing the night into three parts and then performing Tahajjud prayer, fearing that I might miss it. He said, "There is no Tahajjud except in sets of five or seven." So I mentioned this to Yahya ibn Al-Jazzaar and Mujahid, and they asked me, "Who did you hear this from?" I replied, "From trustworthy people, narrated by Aisha and Maymunah from the Prophet ﷺ ."
قُلْتُ لِمِقْسَمٍ أُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ ثُمَّ أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَفُوتَنِي قَالَ لَا وَتْرَ إِلَّا بِخَمْسٍ أَوْ سَبْعٍ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ وْمُجَاهِدٍ فَقَالَا لِي سَلْهُ عَمَّنْ؟ فَقُلْتُ لَهُفَقَالَ عَنِ الثِّقَةِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ومَيْمُونَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began prayer with the takbir (Allah is most great) and with reciting “Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe”. And when he bowed, he neither raised up nor lowered down his head, but kept it between the two (conditions). And when he raised his head after bowing, he did not prostrate himself until he stood up straight; and when he raised his head after prostration, he did not prostrate (the second time) until he sat down properly; and he recited al-tahiyyat after every pair of rak’ahs; and when he sat, he spread out his left foot and raised his right. He forbade to sit like the sitting of the devil, and to spread out to hands (on the ground in prostration) like animals. He used to finish prayer with uttering the salutation. عَنْ عَائِشَةَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةَ بِ الْحَمْدِ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ لَمْ يُشْخِصْ رَأْسَهُ وَلَمْ يُصَوِّبْهُ وَلَكِنْ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَكَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ لَمْ يَسْجُدْ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ قَائِمًا وَكَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السُّجُودِ لَمْ يَسْجُدْ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ قَاعِدًا وَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ التَّحِيَّةَ وَكَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَفْتَرِشَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ افْتِرَاشَ السَّبُعِ وَكَانَيَفْرِشُ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَيَنْصِبُ رِجْلَهُ الْيُمْنَى وَكَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْ عَقِبِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ الصَّلَاةَ بِالتَّسْلِيمِ
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill and some of his Companions came to visit him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed prayer while sitting down, and they prayed behind him standing up. He gestured them to sit down, and when he finished he said: ‘The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he bows, then bow; when he stands up again, then stand up, and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1237)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فِي مَرَضِهِ يَعُودُونَهُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ جَالِسًا فَجَعَلُوا يُصَلُّونَ قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ اجْلِسُوا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا وَإِنْ صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا
[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and all we could see was that it was the time of Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded those who had brought the sacrificial animals to proceed with their Ihram, and those who did not have a sacrificial animal to enter the state of Ihram after performing the Tawaf. When the Day of Sacrifice came, I was handed the meat of a cow, so I asked, "What is this?" They said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sacrificed on behalf of his wives." Yahya said that Shu'bah narrated from Yahya, and I mentioned this to Qasim and he said, "This narration has come to you on his face." Ibn Numayr said: "There are only five days left of the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah and all we can see is the Hajj."
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نَرَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ الْحَجُّ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ أَنْ يَمْضِيَ عَلَى إِحْرَامِهِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ أَنْ يُحِلَّ إِذَا طَافَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ دُخِلَ عَلَيَّ بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا ذَبَحَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ قَالَ يَحْيَى قَالَ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلقَاسِمِ فَقَالَ جَاءَتْكَ بِالْحَدِيثِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ لِخَمْسٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ ذِي الْقِعْدَةِ لَا نَرَى إِلَّا الْحَجَّ
[Machine] "My uncle came to me from the breast-feeding and asked for permission from me after the curtain was struck. I said, 'I will not grant you permission until I seek permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So, I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'Let your uncle come in to you.' I said, 'Indeed, the woman breastfed me and the man did not breastfeed me.' So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'He is your uncle, so let him come in to you.'"
جَاءَنِي عَمِّي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ يَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَيَّبَعْدَمَا ضُرِبَ الْحِجَابُ قُلْتُ لَا آذَنُ لَكَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِيَلِجْ عَلَيْكِ عَمُّكِ قُلْتُ إِنَّمَا أَرْضَعَتْنِي الْمَرْأَةُ وَلَمْ يُرْضِعْنِي الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هُوَ عَمُّكِ فَلْيَلِجْ عَلَيْكِ
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When the dinner is served and the prayer is established, start with the dinner." Waki' (one of the narrators) said, "When both the prayer and dinner are ready." Ibn 'Uyaynah said, "When the dinner is served."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالْعَشَاءُ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ
"Fatimah bint Abi-Hubaish came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman who suffers from persistent bleeding and I do not become clean. Shall I give up Salat?' He said: 'No. That is only a bIood vessel, it is not menstruation. When your menstruation begins then leave the Salat. And when it ends, then wash the blood from you and perform Salat." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 125)
أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ جَاءَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ؟ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ قَالَ لَا قَالَ يَحْيَى لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِالْحَيْضِ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَدَعِي الصَّلَاةَ فَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ الدَّمَ وَصَلِّي قَالَ يَحْيَى قُلْتُ لِهِشَامٍ أَغُسْلٌ وَاحِدٌ تَغْتَسِلُ وَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ
'A'isha said: Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to set out on a journey he cast lots amongst his wives and he took one with him in whose favour the lot was cast. It so happened that he cast lots amongst us while setting out on a battle and it was cast in my favour, so I set out along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This relates to the period when the revelation concerning the commands of veil had been made. I was carried in a haudaj and I was brought down where we had to stay. In short, when we set out for return journey from the expedition and our caravan was near Medina, Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded one night to march forward. I also got up when the command for the march was given and moved on until I went out of the encampments of the army and after relieving myself I came to my place. I touched my chest and found that my necklace which had been made of the stones of zafar had been broken. I retraced my steps and tried to search my necklace and this detained me there. The group of people who saddled my ride and placed my haudaj carrying me upon the camels marched on. They were under the impression that I was in it. The women in those days were light of weight and they did not wear much flesh, as they ate less food; so they did not perceive the weight of my haudaj as they placed it upon the camel as I was a young girl at that time. So they drove the camel and Eet out and I found my necklace after the army had marched. I came to my place and there was none to call and none to respond (the call). I waited at my place under the impression that when the people would riot find me they would come back. So I kept sitting at my place. I was overpowered by sleep and slept. Safwan b. Mu'attal Sulami Dhakwini, who had lagged behind the army because of taking rest came to my place walking in the latter part of the night and he saw the body of a person who was asleep. He came to me and recognised me as he had seen rue before it was enjoined to observe purda. I got ap by his voice as he recited Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un [we are for Allah and to Him we have to return. ] and I covered my head with my headdress. By Allah, he did not speak to me a word and I did not hear a word from him except Inna lillahi. He made his camel kneel down and I amounted the camel as he pressed tLe camel's foreleg and he moved on leaning the camel by the nose string on which I was riding until we came to the army where it had encamped for rest because of extreme heat. Woe be upon those who harboured doubts about me and the most notorious among them was 'Abdullah b. Ubayy, the great hypocrite. We came to Medina and I fell sick for a month. The people had been deliberating over the statements of those who had brought these calumnies against me. I was absolutely unaware of anything concerning that. This, however, caused doubt in my mind that I did not see Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him.) treating me with such kindness with which he treated me as I fell ill before this. The Prophet ﷺ would coome and greet me with Assalam-o-'Alaikum and only ask me how I was. This caused doubt in my mind, but I was unaware of the evil. I wept outside despite my failing health and there went along with me Umm Mistah and she said the daughter of Abu Rhm b. Muttalib b. 'Abd Manaf and his mother was the daughter of Sakhr b. 'Amir, the sister of the mother of Abu Bakr Sidiq and his son was Mistah b. Uthatha b. 'Abbad b. Muttalib. I and the daughter of Abu Rahm set towards the direction of my house. Something got into the head dress of Umm Mistah and she said: Woe be upon Mistah. And I said. Woe be upon what you say. Do you curse people who had participated in Badr? She said: Innocent woman, have you not heard what he said? I said: What did he say? She conveyed to me the statement of those who had brought false allegations against me. So my illness was aggravated. I went to my house and Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and he greeted me and then said: How is that woman? I said: Do you permit me to go to the (house) of my parents? She (further) said: I had at that time made up my mind to confirm this news from them. Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted me. So I came to (the house of) my parents and said to my mother: Mother, do you know what the people are talking about? She said: My daughter, you should not worry. By Allah, if there is a handsome woman who is loved by her husband and he has co-wives also they talk many a thing about her. I said: Hallowed be Allah, what are the people talking about? I wept during the whole night until it was morning and I did not have a wink of sleep and I wept even in the morning. As the revelation was delayed (in regard to this matter), so Messenger of Allah ﷺ called 'Ali ibn Abi 'Talib and Usama b. Zaid in order to seek their advice in regard to the separation of his wife. Usama b. Zaid told Messenger of Allah (may peace be apen him) about the innocence of his wives and what he knew about his love for them. He said: Messenger of Allah, they are your wives and we know nothing else about them but goodness. And as for 'Ali b. Abu Talib, he said: Allah has not put any unnecessary burden upon you (in regard to your wives). There are a number of women besides her and if you ask that maidservant (Barira) she will tell you the truth. So, Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Bailra and said: Barira, did you see anything in 'A'isha which can cause doubt about her? Barira said: By Him Who sent thee with the truth, I have seen nothing objectionable in her but only this much that she is a young girl and she goes to sleep while kneading the flour and the lamb eats that. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted the pulpit and sought vindication against 'Abdullah b. Ubayy b. Salul, and he further said: Who would exonerate me from imputations of that person who has troubled (me) in regard to my family? By Allah, I find nothing in my wife but goodness and the person whom the people have mentioned in this connection is, according to my knowledge, a thoroughly pious person, and he did never get into my house but along with me. Sa'd b. Mu'adh stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, I defend your honour against him. If he belong to the tribe of Aus we would strike his neck and if he belongs to the tribe of our brother Khazraj and you order us we would comply with your order. Then Sa'd b. 'Ubada stood up. He was chief of the Khazraj tribe. He was otherwise a pioas man but he had some what tribal partisanship in him and he said to Sa'd b. Mu'adh: By the everlasting existence of Allah. you are not stating the fact, you will not be able to kill him and you will not have the power to do so. Thereupon, Usaid b. Hudair stood up, and he was the first cousin of Sa'd b. Mu'adh and said to Sa'd b. 'Ubada: By the everlasting existence of Allah, you are not stating the fact. We would kill him. You are a hypocrite and so you argue in defence of the hypocrites, and thus both the tribes Aus and Khazraj were flared up, until they were about to fall upon one another and Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept standing upon the pulpit and Messenger of Allah ﷺ tried to subside their anger until they became silent and thus there was silence. 'A'isha further reported: I spent the whole day in weeping and even the night and could not have a wink of sleep even next night. My parents thought that this constant weeping of mine would break my heart. I wept and they sat beside me. In the meanwhile a woman of the Ansar came to see me. I permitted her to see me and she also began to weep. And we were in this very state that Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and he greeted me and then sat down. He had never sat with me since a month when this rumour was afloat, and there was no revelation (to clarity) my case. Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Tashahhud (there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Apostle) and then said: Coming to the point, 'A'isha, this is what has reached me about you and if you are innocent, Allah would Himself vindicate your honour, and if accidentally there has been a lapse on your part seek forgiveness of Allah; He will pardon thee for when a servant makes a confession of his fault and turns (to Him) penitently, Allah also turns to him (mercifully) accepting his repentance. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ talked, my tears dried up and not even a single drop of tear was perceived by me (rolling out of my eyes). I said to my father: You give a reply to Messenger of Allah ﷺ on my behalf. He said: By Allah, I do not know what I should say to Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I then said to my mother: Give a reply to Messenger of Allah ﷺ on my behalf, but she said: By Allah, I do not know what I should say to Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I was a small girl at that time and I had not read much of the Qur'an (but I said): By Allah, I perceive that you have heard about this and it has settled down in your mind and you have taken it to be true, so if I say to you that I am quite innocent, and Allah knows that I am innocent, you would never believe me to be true, and if I confess to (the alleged) lapse before you, whereas Allah knows that I am completely innocent (and I have not committed this sin at all), in that case You will take me to be true and, by Allah, I, therefore, find no other alternative for me and for you except that what the father of Yousuf said:, (My course is) comely patience. And Allah it is Whose help is to be sought for in that (predicament) which ye describe" (xii 18). After this I turned my face to the other side and lay down on my bed. By Allah, I was fully aware of this fact that I was innocent but I did not expect that Allah would descend Wahy Matlu (Qur'anic Wahy) in my case as I did not think myself so much important that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, would speak in this matter in words to be recited. I only hoped that Allah would in vision give an indication of my innocence to Messenger of Allah ﷺ during his sleep. And, by Allah, Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not moved an inch from where he had been sitting and none from the members of my family had gone that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, descended revelation upon Messenger of Allah ﷺ there and then and he felt the burden which he used to feel at the time of receiving revelation. He began to perspire because of the burden of words of Allah as they descended upon him even during the winter season and there fell the drops of his sweat like silvery beads. When this state of receiving revelation was over, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and the first words which he spoke to me were that he said: 'A'isha, there is glad tidings for you. Verily, Allah has vindicated your honour, and my mother who had been standing by me said: Get up (and thank him, i. e. the Holy Prophet). I said: By Allah, I shall not thank him and laud him but Allah Who has descended revelation vindicating my honour. She ('A'isha) said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed:" 'Verily, those who spread the slander are a gang among you" (and) ten (subsequent) verses in regard to my innocence. She further said: Abu Bakr used to give to Mistah (some stipend) as a token of kinship with him and for his poverty and he (Abu Bakr) said: By Allah, now I would not spend anything for him. 'A'isha said: It was upon this that Allah the Exalted and Glorious revealed this verse:" And let not those who possess dignity and ease among you swear to give to the near of the kin" up to" Yearn ye not that Allah may forgive you?" Hibban b. Musa' said that 'Abdullah b. Mubarak used to say: It is a verse contained in the Book which most (eminently) brightens the hope. Abu Bakr said: By Allah, I wish that Allah should pardon me. I shall never stop this stipend. So he continued to give him the stipend which he had withdrawn. 'A'isha said that Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Zainab, daughter of Jahsh, the wife of Allah's Apostle ﷺ, about me what she knew or what she had seen in me, and she said: Messenger of Allah, I shall not say anything without hearing (with my ears) and seeing with my eyes. By Allah, I find nothing in her but goodness. (And she stated this in spite of the fact) that she was the only lady who amongst the wives of Allah's Apostle ﷺ used to vie with me but Allah saved her in bringing false allegation against me because of her God-consciousness. Her sister Hamna bint Jahsh, however, opposed her and she was undone along with others. (Using translation from Muslim 2770a)
حِينَ قَالَ لَهَا أَهْلُ الْإِفْكِ مَا قَالُوا فَبَرَّأَهَا اللهُ ﷻ وَكُلُّهُمْ حَدَّثَنِي بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِهَا وَبَعْضُهُمْ كَانَ أَوْعَى لِحَدِيثِهَا مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَأَثْبَتَ اقْتِصَاصًا وَقَدْ وَعَيْتُ عَنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمُ الْحَدِيثَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي وَبَعْضُ حَدِيثِهِمْ يُصَدِّقُ بَعْضًا ذَكَرُوا أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ سَفَرًا أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ فَأَيَّتُهُنَّ خَرَجَ سَهْمُهَا خَرَجَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَهُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَنَا فِي غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَافَخَرَجَ فِيهَا سَهْمِي فَخَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَمَا أُنْزِلَ الْحِجَابُ فَأَنَا أُحْمَلُ فِي هَوْدَجِي وَأَنْزِلُ فِيهِ مَسِيرَنَا حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ غَزْوِهِ وَقَفَلَ وَدَنَوْنَا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ آذَنَ لَيْلَةً بِالرَّحِيلِ فَقُمْتُ حِينَ آذَنُوا بِالرَّحِيلِ فَمَشَيْتُ حَتَّى جَاوَزْتُ الْجَيْشَ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْتُ شَأْنِي أَقْبَلْتُ إِلَى الرَّحْلِ فَلَمَسْتُ صَدْرِي فَإِذَا عِقْدٌ مِنْ جَزْعِ أَظْفَارٍ قَدْ انْقَطَعَ فَرَجَعْتُ فَالْتَمَسْتُ عِقْدِي فَاحْتَبَسَنِي ابْتِغَاؤُهُ وَأَقْبَلَ الرَّهْطُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَرْحَلُونَ بِي فَحَمَلُوا هَوْدَجِي فَرَحَلُوهُ عَلَى بَعِيرِي الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَرْكَبُ وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنِّي فِيهِ قَالَتْ وَكَانَتِ النِّسَاءُ إِذْ ذَاكَ خِفَافًا لَمْ يُهَبِّلْهُنَّ وَلَمْ يَغْشَهُنَّ اللَّحْمُ إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلْنَ الْعُلْقَةَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ فَلَمْ يَسْتَنْكِرِ الْقَوْمُ ثِقَلَ الْهَوْدَجِ حِينَ رَحَلُوهُ وَرَفَعُوهُ وَكُنْتُ جَارِيَةًحَدِيثَةَ السِّنِّ فَبَعَثُوا الْجَمَلَ وَسَارُوا فَوَجَدْتُ عِقْدِي بَعْدَمَا اسْتَمَرَّ الْجَيْشُ فَجِئْتُ مَنَازِلَهُمْ وَلَيْسَ بِهَا دَاعٍ وَلَا مُجِيبٌ فَيَمَّمْتُ مَنْزِلِي الَّذِي كُنْتُ فِيهِ وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ الْقَوْمَ سَيَفْقِدُونِي فَيَرْجِعُوا إِلَيَّ فَبَيْنَمَا أَنَا جَالِسَةٌ فِي مَنْزِلِي غَلَبَتْنِي عَيْنِي فَنِمْتُ وَكَانَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ الْمُعَطَّلِ السُّلَمِيُّ ثُمَّ الذَّكْوَانِيُّ قَدْ عَرَّسَ وَرَاءَ الْجَيْشِ فَأَدْلَجَ فَأَصْبَحَ عِنْدَ مَنْزِلِي فَرَأَى سَوَادَ إِنْسَانٍ نَائِمٍ فَأَتَانِي فَعَرَفَنِي حِينَ رَآنِي وَقَدْ كَانَ يَرَانِي قَبْلَ أَنْ يُضْرَبَ عَلَيَّ الْحِجَابُ فَاسْتَيْقَظْتُ بِاسْتِرْجَاعِهِ حِينَ عَرَفَنِي فَخَمَّرْتُ وَجْهِي بِجِلْبَابِي فَوَاللهِ مَا كَلَّمَنِي كَلِمَةً وَلَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْهُ كَلِمَةً غَيْرَ اسْتِرْجَاعِهِ حَتَّى أَنَاخَ رَاحِلَتَهُ فَوَطِئَ عَلَى يَدِهَا فَرَكِبْتُهَا فَانْطَلَقَ يَقُودُ بِي الرَّاحِلَةَ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الْجَيْشَ بَعْدَمَا نَزَلُوا مُوغِرِينَ فِي نَحْرِ الظَّهِيرَةِ فَهَلَكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ فِي شَأْنِي وَكَانَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّى كِبْرَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُبَيِّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ فَقَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَاشْتَكَيْتُ حِينَ قَدِمْنَا شَهْرًا وَالنَّاسُ يُفِيضُونَ فِي قَوْلِ أَهْلِ الْإِفْكِ وَلَمْ أَشْعُرْبِشَيْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَهُوَ يَرِيبُنِي فِي وَجَعِي أَنِّي لَا أَعْرِفُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ اللُّطْفَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَرَى مِنْهُ حِينَ أَشْتَكِي إِنَّمَا يَدْخُلُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَيُسَلِّمُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ كَيْفَ تِيكُمْ؟ فَذَاكَ يَرِيبُنِي وَلَا أَشْعُرُ بِالشَّرِّ حَتَّى خَرَجْتُ بَعْدَمَا نَقِهْتُ وَخَرَجَتْ مَعِي أُمُّ مِسْطَحٍ قِبَلَ الْمَنَاصِعِ وَهُوَ مُتَبَرَّزُنَا وَلَا نَخْرُجُ إِلَّا لَيْلًا إِلَى لَيْلٍ وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُتَّخَذَ الْكُنُفُ قَرِيبًا مِنْ بُيُوتِنَا وَأَمْرُنَا أَمْرُ الْعَرَبِ الْأُوَلِ فِي التَّنَزُّهِ وَكُنَّا نَتَأَذَّى بِالْكُنُفِ أَنْ نَتَّخِذَهَا عِنْدَ بُيُوتِنَا وَانْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَأُمُّ مِسْطَحٍ وَهِيَ بِنْتُ أَبِي رُهْمِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ وَأُمُّهَا بِنْتُ صَخْرِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ خَالَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ وَابْنُهَا مِسْطَحُ بْنُ أُثَاثَةَ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَأَقْبَلْتُ أَنَا وَبِنْتُ أَبِي رُهْمٍ قِبَلَ بَيْتِي حِينَ فَرَغْنَا مِنْ شَأْنِنَا فَعَثَرَتْ أُمُّ مِسْطَحٍ فِي مِرْطِهَا فَقَالَتْ تَعِسَ مِسْطَحٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا بِئْسَ مَا قُلْتِ تَسُبِّينَ رَجُلًا قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا قَالَتْ أَيْ هَنْتَاهُ أَوَلَمْ تَسْمَعِي مَا قَالَ؟ قُلْتُ وَمَاذَا قَالَ؟ فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي بِقَوْلِ أَهْلِ الْإِفْكِ فَازْدَدْتُ مَرَضًا إِلَى مَرَضِي فَلَمَّا رَجَعْتُ إِلَى بَيْتِي فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ كَيْفَ تِيكُمْ؟ قُلْتُ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ آتِيَ أَبَوَيَّ؟ قَالَتْ وَأَنَا حِينَئِذٍ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَيَقَّنَ الْخَبَرَ مِنْ قِبَلِهِمَا فَأَذِنَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَجِئْتُ أَبَوَيَّ فَقُلْتُ لِأُمِّي يَا أُمَّتَاهْ مَا يَتَحَدَّثُ النَّاسُ؟ فَقَالَتْأَيْ بُنَيَّةُ هَوِّنِي عَلَيْكِ فَوَاللهِ لَقَلَّمَا كَانَتْ امْرَأَةٌ قَطُّ وَضِيئَةً عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّهَا وَلَهَا ضَرَائِرُ إِلَّا كَثَّرْنَ عَلَيْهَا قَالَتْ قُلْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ أَوَقَدْ تَحَدَّثَ النَّاسُ بِهَذَا؟ قَالَتْ فَبَكَيْتُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ حَتَّى أَصْبَحْتُ لَا يَرْقَأُ لِي دَمْعٌ وَلَا أَكْتَحِلُ بِنَوْمٍ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحْتُ أَبْكِي وَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَأُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ حِينَ اسْتَلْبَثَ الْوَحْيُ يَسْتَشِيرُهُمَا فِي فِرَاقِ أَهْلِهِ قَالَتْ فَأَمَّا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فَأَشَارَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالَّذِي يَعْلَمُ مِنْ بَرَاءَةِ أَهْلِهِ وَبِالَّذِي يَعْلَمُ فِي نَفْسِهِ لَهُمْ مِنَ الْوُدِّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هُمْ أَهْلُكَ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا وَأَمَّا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَالَ لَمْ يُضَيِّقِ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَيْكَ وَالنِّسَاءُ سِوَاهَا كَثِيرٌ وَإِنْ تَسْأَلِ الْجَارِيَةَ تَصْدُقْكَ قَالَتْ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَرِيرَةَ قَالَ أَيْ بَرِيرَةُ هَلْ رَأَيْتِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ يَرِيبُكِ مِنْ عَائِشَةَ؟ قَالَتْ لَهُ بَرِيرَةُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ إِنْ رَأَيْتُ عَلَيْهَا أَمْرًا قَطُّ أَغْمِصُهُ عَلَيْهَا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَنَّهَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ تَنَامُ عَنْ عَجِينِ أَهْلِهَا فَتَأْتِي الدَّاجِنُ فَتَأْكُلُهُ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَعْذَرَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ فَقَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مَنْ يَعْذِرُنِي مِنْ رَجُلٍ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي أَذَاهُ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فَوَاللهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَى أَهْلِي إِلَّا خَيْرًا وَلَقَدْ ذَكَرُوارَجُلًا مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا خَيْرًا وَمَا كَانَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى أَهْلِي إِلَّا مَعِي فَقَامَ سَعْدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ أَعْذِرُكَ مِنْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْأَوْسِ ضَرَبْنَا عُنُقَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ إِخْوَانِنَا مِنَ الْخَزْرَجِ أَمَرْتَنَا فَفَعَلْنَا أَمْرَكَ قَالَتْ فَقَامَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ الْخَزْرَجِ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا وَلَكِنْ اجْتَهَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ فَقَالَ لِسَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ لَعَمْرُ اللهِ لَا تَقْتُلُهُ وَلَا تَقْدِرُ عَلَى قَتْلِهِ فَقَامَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَمِّ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَقَالَ لِسَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ كَذَبْتَ لَعَمْرُ اللهِ لَنَقْتُلَنَّهُ فَإِنَّكَ مُنَافِقٌ تُجَادِلُ عَنِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَثَارَ الْحَيَّانِ الْأَوْسُ وَالْخَزْرَجُ حَتَّى هَمُّوا أَنْ يَقْتَتِلُوا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَائِمٌ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُخَفِّضُهُمْ حَتَّى سَكَتُوا وَسَكَتَ قَالَتْ وَبَكَيْتُ يَوْمِي ذَاكَ لَا يَرْقَأُ لِي دَمْعٌ وَلَا أَكْتَحِلُ بِنَوْمٍ ثُمَّ بَكَيْتُ لَيْلَتِي الْمُقْبِلَةَ لَا يَرْقَأُ لِي دَمْعٌ وَلَا أَكْتَحِلُ بِنَوْمٍ وَأَبَوَايَ يَظُنَّانِ أَنَّ الْبُكَاءَ فَالِقٌ كَبِدِي قَالَتْ فَبَيْنَمَا هُمَا جَالِسَانِ عِنْدِي وَأَنَا أَبْكِي اسْتَأْذَنَتْ عَلَيَّ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَأَذِنْتُ لَهَا فَجَلَسَتْ تَبْكِي مَعِي فَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ قَالَتْ وَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ عِنْدِي مُنْذُ قِيلَ لِي مَا قِيلَ وَقَدْ لَبِثَ شَهْرًا لَا يُوحَى إِلَيْهِفِي شَأْنِي شَيْءٌ قَالَتْ فَتَشَهَّدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ جَلَسَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ يَا عَائِشَةُ فَإِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَإِنْ كُنْتِ بَرِيئَةً فَسَيُبَرِّئُكِ اللهُ ﷻ وَإِنْ كُنْتِ أَلْمَمْتِ بِذَنْبٍ فَاسْتَغْفِرِي اللهَ ثُمَّ تُوبِي إِلَيْهِ فَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا اعْتَرَفَ بِذَنْبٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَقَالَتَهُ قَلَصَ دَمْعِي حَتَّى مَا أُحِسُّ مِنْهُ قَطْرَةً فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي أَجِبْ عَنِّي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَا قَالَ فَقَالَ مَا أَدْرِي وَاللهِ مَا أَقُولُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقُلْتُ لِأُمِّي أَجِيبِي عَنِّي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا أَدْرِي مَا أَقُولُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ لَا أَقْرَأُ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ إِنِّي وَاللهِ قَدْ عَرَفْتُ أَنَّكُمْ قَدْ سَمِعْتُمْ بِهَذَا حَتَّى اسْتَقَرَّ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ وَصَدَّقْتُمْ بِهِ وَلَئِنْ قُلْتُ لَكُمْ إِنِّي بَرِيئَةٌ وَاللهُ ﷻ يَعْلَمُ أَنِّي بَرِيئَةٌ لَا تُصَدِّقُونِي بِذَلِكَ وَلَئِنْ اعْتَرَفْتُ لَكُمْ بِأَمْرٍ وَاللهُ ﷻ يَعْلَمُ أَنِّي بَرِيئَةٌ تُصَدِّقُونِي وَإِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا أَجِدُ لِي وَلَكُمْ مَثَلًا إِلَّا كَمَا قَالَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ {فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ وَاللهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَى مَا تَصِفُونَ} [يوسف 18] قَالَتْ ثُمَّ تَحَوَّلْتُ فَاضْطَجَعْتُ عَلَى فِرَاشِي قَالَتْ وَأَنَا وَاللهِ حِينَئِذٍ أَعْلَمُ أَنِّي بَرِيئَةٌ وَأَنَّ اللهَ ﷻ مُبَرِّئِي بِبَرَاءَتِي وَلَكِنْوَاللهِ مَا كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِي شَأْنِي وَحْيٌ يُتْلَى وَلَشَأْنِي كَانَ أَحْقَرَ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ اللهُ ﷻ فِيَّ بِأَمْرٍ يُتْلَى وَلَكِنْ كُنْتُ أَرْجُو أَنْ يَرَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي النَّوْمِ رُؤْيَا يُبَرِّئُنِي اللهُ ﷻ بِهَا قَالَتْ فَوَاللهِ مَا رَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَجْلِسَهُ وَلَا خَرَجَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ أَحَدٌ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ فَأَخَذَهُ مَا كَانَ يَأْخُذُهُ مِنَ الْبُرَحَاءِ عِنْدَ الْوَحْيِ حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيَتَحَدَّرُ مِنْهُ مِثْلُ الْجُمَانِ مِنَ الْعَرَقِ فِي الْيَوْمِ الشَّاتِي مِنْ ثِقَلِ الْقَوْلِ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا سُرِّيَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَضْحَكُ فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ كَلِمَةٍ تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا أَنْ قَالَ أَبْشِرِي يَا عَائِشَةُ أَمَّا اللهُ ﷻ فَقَدْ بَرَّأَكِ فَقَالَتْ لِي أُمِّي قُومِي إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ لَا أَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ وَلَا أَحْمَدُ إِلَّا اللهَ ﷻ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ بَرَاءَتِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِنْكُمْ} عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ هَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ بَرَاءَتِي قَالَتْ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَكَانَ يُنْفِقُ عَلَى مِسْطَحٍ لِقَرَابَتِهِ مِنْهُ وَفَقْرِهِ وَاللهِ لَا أُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا أَبَدًا بَعْدَ الَّذِي قَالَ لِعَائِشَةَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَا يَأْتَلِ أُولُو الْفَضْلِ مِنْكُمْ وَالسَّعَةِ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ} [النور 22] فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللهُ لِي فَرَجَعَ إِلَى مِسْطَحٍ النَّفَقَةَالَّتِي كَانَ يُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ لَا أَنْزِعُهَا مِنْهُ أَبَدًا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَأَلَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ أَمْرِي مَا عَلِمْتِ أَوْ مَا رَأَيْتِ أَوْ مَا بَلَغَكِ؟ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحْمِي سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي وَأَنَا مَا عَلِمْتُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَهِيَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُسَامِينِي مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَعَصَمَهَا اللهُ ﷻ بِالْوَرَعِ وَطَفِقَتْ أُخْتُهَا حَمْنَةُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ تُحَارِبُ لَهَا فَهَلَكَتْ فِيمَنْ هَلَكَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ فَهَذَا مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْنَا مِنْ أَمْرِ هَؤُلَاءِ الرَّهْطِ
[Machine] Narrated Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , when he asked her about what the people of falsehood had said about her, Allah exonerated her. "And all of them talked to me about her narration, and some of them understood her narration better than others, and some of them verified it and sought retribution for her. However, I renounced the narration of all the men who reported to me about Aisha. Some of their narrations corroborate each other, but some of them understand it better than others."
They said, "Aisha said, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to travel, he cast lots among his wives, and whichever of them had her arrow come out, she would accompany him. Then, he mentioned the narration except that he said, 'I have been commanded to set off on a night journey.' So, I got up when they announced the departure. He said, 'From the pain of Dhafar.' He said, 'It makes me sick.' He said, 'So, I changed my bedding.' He said, 'Urwah told me that it circulated and was talked about in his presence, and he would recite it and listen to it and authorize it and obtain benefits from it. Urwah also said, 'Only Hassan ibn Thabit, Mistah ibn Athatha, and Humnah bint Jahsh were mentioned from the people of falsehood. I do not know about the others except that they were a group, as Allah said. 'And indeed, this is what they were wont to say among the assemblies of Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul.' Urwah also said, 'Aisha disliked that Hassan should be mentioned in her presence and she would say, "He is the one who recited Al-Bahr Al-Wafer [a derogatory poem about the Prophet]." She also said, 'Indeed, my father, and his father, and my honor, and the honor of Muhammad ﷺ , from you.' And she said, 'Our command is the command of the reigning Arabs in the excellence of purity.' And he said to her, 'There are disadvantages.' And he also said, 'By the One Who knows the innocence of his family.' And he said, 'Then the lynx comes and eats it.' And he said, 'Even if he is from our brethren among the Khazraj.' And a man from the Khazraj stood up. Umm Hassan, the sister of Hamnah, fought for her.' Urwah also said, 'Aisha swore by Allah, the man who was accused of what he was accused of would say, 'Glory be to Allah!' And by the One in Whose Hand my soul is, I never revealed anything intimately from a woman's cloister before this. She said, Then he was killed in the cause of Allah as a martyr." Abdullah ibn Ahmad said, "My father mentioned in one of the two narrations, 'There was a dispute.'
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حِينَ قَالَ لَهَا أَهْلُ الْإِفْكِ مَا قَالُوا فَبَرَّأَهَا اللهُ وَكُلُّهُمْ حَدَّثَنِي طَائِفَةً مِنْ حَدِيثِهَا وَبَعْضُهُمْ كَانَ أَوْعَى لِحَدِيثِهَا مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَأَثْبَتَ لَهُ اقْتِصَاصًا وَقَدْ وَعَيْتُ عَنْ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمُ الْحَدِيثَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَبَعْضُ حَدِيثِهِمْ يُصَدِّقُ بَعْضًا وَإِنْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ قَالُواقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَ أَزْوَاجِهِ فَأَيَّتُهُنَّ خَرَجَ سَهْمُهَا خَرَجَ بِهَا فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ آذَنَ لَيْلَةَ بِالرَّحِيلِ فَقُمْتُ حِينَ آذَنُوا بِالرَّحِيلِ وَقَالَ مِنْ جَزْعِ ظَفَارٍ وَقَالَ يُهَبَّلْنَ وَقَالَ فَيَمَّمْتُ مَنْزِلِي وَقَالَ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُشَاعُ وَيُحَدَّثُ بِهِ عِنْدَهُ فَيُقِرُّهُ وَيَسْتَمِعُهُ وَيَسْتَوْشِيهِ وَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ أَيْضًا لَمْ يُسَمَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْإِفْكِ إِلَّا حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَمِسْطَحُ بْنُ أُثَاثَةَ وَحَمْنَةُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ فِي نَاسٍ آخَرِينَ لَا عِلْمَ لِي بِهِمْ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ عُصْبَةٌ كَمَا قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ وَإِنَّ كِبْرَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ يُقَالُ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُبَيِّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُسَبَّ عِنْدَهَا حَسَّانُ وَتَقُولُ إِنَّهُ الَّذِي قَالَ[البحر الوافر]فَإِنَّ أَبِي وَوَالِدَهُ وَعِرْضِي لِعِرْضِ مُحَمَّدٍ مِنْكُمْ وِقَاءُوَقَالَتْ وَأَمْرُنَا أَمْرُ الْعَرَبِ الْأُوَلِ فِي التَّنْزِيهِ وَقَالَ لَهَا ضَرَائِرُ وَقَالَ بِالَّذِي يَعْلَمُ مِنْ بَرَاءَةِ أَهْلِهِ وَقَالَ فَتَأْتِي الدَّاجِنُ فَتَأْكُلُهُ وَقَالَ وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ إِخْوَانِنَا الْخَزْرَجِ وَقَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْخَزْرَجِ وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ حَسَّانَ بِنْتَ عَمِّهِ مِنْ فَخِذِهِ وَهُوَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ الْخَزْرَجِ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا وَلَكِنْ احْتَمَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ وَقَالَ قَلَصَ دَمْعِي وَقَالَوَطَفِقَتْ أُخْتُهَا حَمْنَةُ تُحَارِبُ لَهَا وَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَاللهِ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ مَا قِيلَ لَيَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا كَشَفْتُ عَنْ كَنَفِ أُنْثَى قَطُّ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ قُتِلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ شَهِيدًا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ أَبِي فِي أَحَدِ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ تَجَاذُبٌ
[Machine] And he said, "Before that, there was a righteous man, but he was overwhelmed by the heat. He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept humbling them until they became silent. He said, 'My tears have diminished.' He said, 'They are fighting.'"
وَقَالَ وَكَانَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا وَلَكِنْ احْتَمَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ وَقَالَ لَمْ يَزَلْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُخَفِّضُهُمْ حَتَّى سَكَتُوا وَقَالَ قَلَصَ دَمْعِي وَقَالَ تُحَارِبُ
[Machine] "I have never disobeyed my parents, and every day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit us both in the morning and in the evening. When the Muslims were put to trial, Abu Bakr left as an emigrant before the immigration to Abyssinia. When he reached Bark Al-Ghimad, he met Ibn Ad-Daghinah, who was the chief of the Quraish. Ibn Ad-Daghinah asked him, 'Where are you headed, Abu Bakr?' Abu Bakr replied, 'My people have forced me to emigrate.' Then Abu Bakr recited a verse of poetry and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have seen your migration place in a dream, which is situated between two lava plains (hills) full of date-palm trees. It has two springs, one of them is called Ar-Rawah and the other is called Khaneekan." So, some people who had emigrated to the land of Abyssinia returned to Medina and the people of Abu Bakr prepared to emigrate. Abu Bakr's companions came to him and said, 'Don't you think that we have earned great reward?' Abu Bakr feared that they might dislike the company of Allah's Messenger ﷺ in comparison to the company of the angels. So Abu Bakr decided to accompany the Prophet ﷺ and make the pair of camels between them kneel down and prepared his luggage accordingly. Abu Bakr's wife said to him, 'Don't you think that you should change the destination?' On that Abu Bakr said, 'I have heard (from the Prophet) that migration (for Allah's Cause) is not to be changed. So, Allah's Messenger ﷺ guided Abu Bakr by his dream to the cave of Thawr, over which the cave of Thawr mountain was situated at the mountain of Thawr."
لَمْ أَعْقِلْ أَبَوَيَّ قَطُّ إِلَّا وَهُمَا يَدِينَانِ الدِّينَ وَلَمْ يَمْرُرْ عَلَيْنَا يَوْمٌ إِلَّا يَأْتِينَا فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيَّةً فَلَمَّا ابْتُلِيَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ خَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُهَاجِرًا قِبَلَ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ بِرْكَ الْغِمَادِ لَقِيَهُ ابْنُ الدَّغِنَةِ وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ الْقَارَةِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ الدَّغِنَةِ أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَخْرَجَنِي قَوْمِي فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ دَارَ هِجْرَتِكُمْ أُرِيتُ سَبْخَةً ذَاتَ نَخْلٍ بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْنِ وَهُمَا حَرَّتَانِ فَخَرَجَ مَنْ كَانَ مُهَاجِرًا قِبَلَ الْمَدِينَةِ حِينَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَرَجَعَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ بَعْضُ مَنْ كَانَ هَاجَرَ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَتَجَهَّزَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُهَاجِرًافَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى رِسْلِكَ فَإِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لِي فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَوَ تَرْجُو ذَلِكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَحَبَسَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ نَفْسَهُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لِصُحْبَتِهِ وَعَلَفَ رَاحِلَتَيْنِ كَانَتَا عِنْدَهُ مِنْ وَرَقِ السَّمُرِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ يَوْمًا جُلُوسًا فِي بَيْتِنَا فِي نَحْرِ الظَّهِيرَةِ قَالَ قَائِلٌ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُقْبِلًا مُتَقَنِّعًا فِي سَاعَةٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَأْتِينَا فِيهَا فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِدَاءٌ لَهُ أَبِي وَأُمِّي إِنْ جَاءَ بِهِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ لَأَمْرٌ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَدَخَلَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ دَخَلَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ أَخْرِجْ مَنْ عِنْدَكَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِنَّمَا هُمْ أَهْلُكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ أُذِنَ لِي فِي الْخُرُوجِ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَالصَّحَابَةَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَخُذْ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِحْدَى رَاحِلَتَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالثَّمَنِ قَالَتْ فَجَهَّزْنَاهُمَا أَحَثَّ الْجِهَازِ وَصَنَعْنَا لَهُمَا سُفْرَةًفِي جِرَابٍ فَقَطَعَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنْ نِطَاقِهَا فَأَوْكَتِ الْجِرَابَ فَلِذَلِكَ كَانَتْ تُسَمَّى ذَاتَ النِّطَاقَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَحِقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ بِغَارٍ فِي جَبَلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ ثَوْرٌ فَمَكَثَا فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Any woman who removes her clothes in a place other than her house has exposed what is between her and Allah (God) or the covering between her and Allah (God)."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ وَضَعَتْ ثِيَابَهَا فِي غَيْرِ بَيْتِهَا فَقَدْ هَتَكَتْ مَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ اللهِ ﷻ أَوْ سِتْرَ مَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ اللهِ ﷻ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray with a patch from these patches. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray with some of it and some of it on me. The patch was made of black cloth.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمُرَحَّلَاتِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَعَلَيْهِ بَعْضُهُ وَعَلَيَّ بَعْضُهُ وَالْمِرْطُ مِنْ أَكْسِيَةٍ سُودٍ
تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ شَبِعْنَا مِنَ الْأَسْوَدَيْنِ التَّمْرِ وَالْمَاءِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed alone until Umar called out to him. Umar said, "The prayer has been called, as even women and children have fallen asleep." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then went out and said, "No one from the people of religions (other than Islam) is waiting for it except for you (referring to Umar and a few others)."
أَعْتَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى نَادَاهُ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ الصَّلَاةَ نَامَ النِّسَاءُ وَالصِّبْيَانُ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَا يَنْتَظِرُهَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَدْيَانِ غَيْرُكُمْ
The most grievous torfnent for the people on the Day of Resurrection would be for those who try to imitate Allah in the act of creation. (Using translation from Muslim 2107f)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ مُسْتَتِرَةٌ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ صُورَةُ تَمَاثِيلَ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ أَهْوَى إِلَى الْقِرَامِ فَهَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was with a beautiful woman. He asked, "Who is this?" I replied, "This is Fulanah, the daughter of Fulan, O Messenger of Allah. She does not sleep at night." He said, "Take from the deeds what you can bear, for Allah does not tire until you tire. The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are done consistently, even if they are few."
دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعِنْدِي امْرَأَةٌ حَسَنَةُ الْهَيْئَةِ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذِهِ؟ فَقُلْتُ هَذِهِ فُلَانَةُ بِنْتُ فُلَانٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هِيَ لَا تَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ فَقَالَ مَهْ مَهْ خُذُوا مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ لَا يَمَلُّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا وَأَحَبُّ الْعَمَلِ إِلَى اللهِ ﷻ مَا دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهِ صَاحِبُهُ وَإِنْ قَلَّ
As-Sam-u-'Alaikum. A'isha said in response: As-Sam-u-'Alaikum (death be upon you) and curse also, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A'isha, verily Allah loves kindness in every matter. She said: Did you bear what they said? Thereupon he said: Did you not hear that I said (to them): Wa 'Alaikum. (Using translation from Muslim 2165a)
دَخَلَ رَهْطٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَفَهِمْتُهَا فَقُلْتُ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّامُوَاللَّعْنَةُ فَقَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَهْلًا يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ فِي الْأَمْرِ كُلِّهِ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالُوا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَدْ قُلْتُ وَعَلَيْكُمْ
"I used to perform Ghusl with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from one vessel, which was the size of a Faraq." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 231)
كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فِيهِ قَدْرُ الْفَرَقِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in a shirt with patterns on it. Once he completed his prayer, he said, "Take this shirt to Abu Jahm and bring me the Anbijaniyyah, as it distracted me from my prayer."
صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي خَمِيصَةٍ ذَاتِ عَلَمٍ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ اذْهَبُوا بِهَذِهِ الْخَمِيصَةِ إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ وَائِتُونِي بِأَنْبِجَانِيَّةٍ فَإِنَّهَا أَلْهَتْنِي آنِفًا عَنْ صَلَاتِي
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Asr prayer before the sun sets from my room window.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ حُجْرَتِي طَالِعَةً
The Prophet ﷺ used to pray at night while I lay interposed between him and the Qibla like a corpse on the bier. (Using translation from Muslim 512a)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ الْلَيْلِ وَأَنَا مُعْتَرِضَةٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ كَاعْتِرَاضِ الْجِنَازَةِ
All Glorious, All Holy, Lord of the Angels and the Spirit. (Using translation from Muslim 487a)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ أَوْ رُكُوعِهِ سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ
Do not get used to observe prayer at the time of the rising sun and at the time of its setting and (exhorted the Muslims) to pray at their times. (Using translation from Muslim 833b)
أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لَمْ يَدَعْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِقَالَتْ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا تَتَحَرَّوْا طُلُوعَ الشَّمْسِ وَلَا غُرُوبَهَا فَتُصَلُّوا عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ
[Machine] She said: "The Prophet ﷺ was leaning against me when he was taken ill. Abdul Rahman ibn Abu Bakr entered with a miswak in his hand. The Prophet ﷺ called for it and I took it, chewed on it, cleaned it, and then gave it to him. He used it to brush his teeth and I felt his hand become heavy on mine. He kept saying 'O Allah, in the highest companionship' twice. Then he passed away. Aisha says: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away while he was between my chest and my neck'."
أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ قُبِضَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَيَّ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَفِي يَدِهِ سِوَاكٌ فَدَعَا بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَخَذْتُ السِّوَاكَ فَطَيَّبْتُهُ ثُمَّ دَفَعْتُهُ إِلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يَسْتَنُّ بِهِ فَثَقُلَتْ يَدُهُ وَثَقُلَ عَلَيَّ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ فِي الرَّفِيقِ الْأَعْلَى اللهُمَّ فِي الرَّفِيقِ الْأَعْلَى مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ قُبِضَ تَقُولُ عَائِشَةُ قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ بَيْنَ سَحْرِي وَنَحْرِي
During Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ, I perfumed Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Dharira with my own hands, both on his assuming Ihram and on finishing it. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5930)
طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِي بِذَرِيرَةٍ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ لِلْحِلِّ وَالْإِحْرَامِ وَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ
[Machine] I used to untie the necklaces of the gifts of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then he would send them and give them as presents, and he would guard against anything evil.
لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَفْتِلُ قَلَائِدَ هَدْيِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُ بِهِ وَيُقِيمُ فَمَا يَتَّقِي مِنْ شَيْءٍ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Kill the gecko, for it used to blow on Ibrahim ﷺ with fire.' He said, 'And Aisha used to kill them.'"
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ اقْتُلُوا الْوَزَغَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَنْفُخُ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ النَّارَ قَالَ وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَقْتُلُهُنَّ
[Machine] And he said, "It is yours, O slave of Ibn Zam'ah, the child for a bed, and the stone for the adulteress."
وَقَالَ فَهُوَ لَكَ يَا عَبْدُ بْنَ زَمْعَةَ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ
[Machine] She heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Breaking the bone of a dead person is like breaking the bone of a living one."
أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ كَسْرَ عَظْمِ الْمَيِّتِ مَيْتًا كَمِثْلِ كَسْرِهِ حَيًّا
when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray, and I was lying on the bed between him and the Qibla. I asked, "Should I move to the wall of the mosque?" She said, "No, to his wall in the house."
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَأَنِّي لَمُعْتَرِضَةٌ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ قُلْتُ أَبَيْنَهُمَا جُدُرُ الْمَسْجِدِ؟ قَالَتْ لَا فِي الْبَيْتِ إِلَى جُدُرِهِ
[Machine] He used to say after the final Tashahhud of the Isha prayer some words that he greatly emphasized. He used to say, "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of Hell, I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the Antichrist, I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in Allah from the trials of life and death." He said that he greatly emphasized these words and he mentioned them from Aisha, from the Prophet ﷺ.
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ بَعْدَ التَّشَهُّدِ فِي الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ كَلِمَاتٍ كَانَ يُعَظِّمُهُنَّ جِدًّا يَقُولُ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ وَأَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ وَأَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَأَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ قَالَ كَانَ يُعَظِّمُهُنَّ وَيَذْكُرُهُنَّ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
Messenger of Allah, Salim (the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa) is living with us in our house, and he has attained (puberty) as men attain it and has acquired knowledge (of the sex problems) as men acquire, whereupon he said: Suckle him so that he may become unlawful (in regard to marriage) for you He (Ibn Abu Mulaika) said: I refrained from (narrating this hadith) for a year or so on account of fear. I then met al-Qasim and said to him: You narrated to me a hadith which I did not narrate (to anyone) afterwards. He said: What is that? I informed him, whereupon he said: Narrate it on my authority that 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) had narrated that to me. (Using translation from Muslim 1453c)
أَنَّ سَهْلَةَ بِنْتَ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو جَاءَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ سَالِمًا لِسَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مَعَنَا فِي بَيْتِنَا وَقَدْ بَلَغَ مَا يَبْلُغُ الرِّجَالُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَعَلِمَ مَا يَعْلَمُ الرِّجَالُ قَالَ أَرْضِعِيهِ تَحْرُمِي عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَمَكَثْتُ سَنَةً أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا لَا أُحَدِّثُ بِهِ رَهْبَةً ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ الْقَاسِمَ فَقُلْتُ لَقَدْ حَدَّثْتَنِي حَدِيثًا مَا حَدَّثْتُهُ بَعْدُ قَالَ مَا هُوَ؟فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَهُ عَنِّي أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْنِيهِ
[Machine] Abu Hudhayfah adopted Salim, who was a slave to a woman from the Ansar, just as the Prophet ﷺ adopted Zaid. In pre-Islamic times, if a man adopted a child, the people called him the child's son and he would inherit from the adopted father. Until Allah revealed the verse, "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you" (Quran 33:5). So they returned to their fathers. Anyone who didn't have a known father would call him a mawla (slave) and a brother in religion. Sahla came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we used to see Salim as a young boy who would stay with me and Abu Hudhayfah. He would see me without any prohibition, and Allah has revealed what you know about them." He then said, "Breastfeed him five times, so he will become your mahram (unmarriageable) like your own children."
أَنَّ أَبَا حُذَيْفَةَ تَبَنَّى سَالِمًا وَهُوَ مَوْلًى لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ كَمَا تَبَنَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ زَيْدًا وَكَانَ مَنْ تَبَنَّى رَجُلًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ دَعَاهُ النَّاسُ ابْنَهُ وَوَرِثَ مِنْ مِيرَاثِهِ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا آبَاءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَمَوَالِيكُمْ} [الأحزاب 5] فَرُدُّوا إِلَى آبَائِهِمْ فَمَنْ لَمْ يُعْلَمْ لَهُ أَبٌ فَمَوْلًى وَأَخٌ فِي الدِّينِ فَجَاءَتْ سَهْلَةُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كُنَّا نَرَى سَالِمًا وَلَدًا يَأْوِي مَعِي وَمَعَ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ وَيَرَانِي فُضُلًا وَقَدْ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ فِيهِمْ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ فَقَالَ أَرْضِعِيهِ خَمْسَ رَضَعَاتٍ فَكَانَ بِمَنْزِلَةِوَلَدِهِ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ
[Machine] My uncle Abu Al-Ja'd sought permission from me regarding breastfeeding. Abu Al-Ju'ayd said he heard Abdul Razzaq reporting from Ibn Jurayj saying that Hisham bin 'Urwah questioned him about it and repeated it. Hisham told me that it is actually Abu Al-Qa'is. So when the Prophet ﷺ came, I informed him of that. He said, "So why didn't you give him permission to suckle on your right thigh or hand?"
اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ عَمِّي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَبُو الْجَعْدِ قَالَ رَوْحٌ أَبُو الْجُعَيْدِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عْنِ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ لَهُ هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ فَرَدَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي هِشَامٌ إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَبُو الْقُعَيْسِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَخْبَرْتُهُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَهَلَّا أَذِنْتِ لَهُ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ أَوْ يَدُكِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ did not die until Allah ﷻ permitted him to marry whoever he wanted. I asked, "Who was affected by this?" He said, "I don't know. I thought I heard Ubayd ibn Umayr say that."
مَا مَاتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حَتَّى أَحَلَّ اللهُ ﷻ لَهُ أَنْ يَنْكِحَ مَا شَاءَ قُلْتُ عَمَّنْ تَأْثُرُ هَذَا قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي حَسِبْتُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ بْنَ عُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to kiss and engage in intimate relations while fasting, and he was the most self-controlled among you.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِأَرَبِهِ
"Your children are part of the best of your earnings, so eat from what your children earn." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4450)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ أَوْلَادَكُمْ مِنْ أَطْيَبِ كَسْبِكُمْ فَكُلُوا مِنْ كَسْبِ أَوْلَادِكُمْ
"I noticed that the Messenger of Allah (saas) was missing from his bed one night, so I went looking for him, and my hand touched the soles of his feet; he was in the Masjid with his feet upright (prostrating), and he was saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu biridaka min sakhatika wa bimu'afatika 'an 'uqubatika, wa a'udhu bika minka, la uhsi thana'an 'alayka, Anta kama athnayta 'ala nafsika (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You enough; You are as You have praised Yourself).'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3841)
فَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنَ الْفِرَاشِ فَالْتَمَسْتُهُ فَوَقَعَتْ يَدِي عَلَى بَطْنِ قَدَمَيْهِ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَهُمَا مَنْصُوبَتَانِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَلَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the year of victory while experiencing illness, and he entered the Umrah during vulnerability.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ مِنْ كَدَاءَ وَدَخَلَ فِي الْعُمْرَةِ مِنْ كُدًى
When revelation descended upon Messenger of Allah ﷺ even during the cold days, his forehead perspired. (Using translation from Muslim 2333a)
إِنْ كَانَ لَيَنْزِلُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْغَدَاةِ الْبَارِدَةِ فَتَفِيضُ جَبْهَتُهُ عَرَقًا عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ
Never did I feel jealous of any woman as I was jealous of Khadija. She had died three years before he (the Holy Prophet) married me. I often heard him praise her, and his lord, the Exalted and Glorious, had commanded him to give her the glad tidings of a palace of jewels in Paradise: and whenever he slaughtered a sheep he presented (its meat) to her female companions. مَا غِرْتُ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ مَا غِرْتُ عَلَى خَدِيجَةَ وَلَقَدْ هَلَكَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَنِي بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ لِمَا كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُهُ يَذْكُرُهَا وَلَقَدْ أَمَرَهُ رَبُّهُ ﷻ أَنْ يُبَشِّرَهَا بِبَيْتٍ مِنْ قَصَبٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَذْبَحُ الشَّاةَ ثُمَّ يُهْدِي فِي خَلَائِلِهَا مِنْهَا
Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Dubaa bint Az-Zubair and said to her, "Do you have a desire to perform the Hajj?" She replied, "By Allah, I feel sick." He said to her, "Intend to perform Hajj and stipulate something by saying, 'O Allah, I will finish my Ihram at any place where You stop me (i.e. I am unable to go further)." She was the wife of Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5089)
دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَرَدْتِ الْحَجَّ؟ قَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا أَجِدُنِي إِلَّا وَجِعَةً فَقَالَ لَهَا حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي فَقُولِي اللهُمَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ
