[Machine] There will come a time when people's hearts will be corrupted by the Quran, and they will not find any sweetness or pleasure in it. If they fall short of what they have been commanded, they will say that Allah is forgiving and merciful. And if they do what they have been forbidden from, they will say that Allah will forgive them because they have not associated anything with Him. Their whole affair is nothing but greed, and there is no truth in it. They wear the skins of sheep while having the hearts of wolves. The best among them in their religion are the deceivers.  

يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ تَخْرُبُ صُدُورُهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُ حَلَاوَةً وَلَا لَذَاذَةً إِنْ قَصَّرُوا عَمَّا أُمِرُوا بِهِ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ وَإِنْ عَمِلُوا بِمَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ قَالُوا سَيَغْفِرُ لَنَا إِنَّا لَمْ نُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا أَمْرُهُمْ كُلُّهُ طَمَعٌ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ صِدْقٌ يَلْبَسُونَ جُلُودَ الضَّأْنِ عَلَى قُلُوبِ الذِّئَابِ أَفْضَلُهُمْ فِي دِينِهِ الْمُدَاهِنُ  

[Machine] "Feed us from the food of the house and do not make it difficult for us."  

«أَطْعِمُونَا مِنْ طَعَامِ الْبَيْتِ وَلَا تَتَكَلَّفُوا»  

[Machine] "The fasting person is in worship as long as he does not backbite, even if he is sleeping on his bed."  

«الصَّائِمُ فِي عِبَادَةٍ مَا لَمْ يَغْتَبْ وَإِنْ كَانَ نَائِمًا عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ»  

[Machine] "When you enter a people's place, and they cast a cushion for you, then sit wherever you are thrown a cushion, for indeed the people know best about their own household."  

«إِذَا دَخَلْتَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ فَأَلْقَوْا إِلَيْكَ فَاجْلِسْ بِحَيْثُ أُلْقِيَ لَكَ الْوِسَادَةُ فَإِنَّ الْقَوْمَ أَعْلَمُ بِبَيْتِهِمْ»  

[Machine] "Work with obedience and love those who work with it, and avoid disobedience and those who engage in it, for if Allah wills, He will punish the people of disobedience, and if He wills, He will forgive them."  

«اعْمَلْ بِالطَّاعَةِ وَأَحِبَّ عَلَيْهَا مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا وَاجْتَنِبْ الْمَعْصِيَةَ وَعَادِ عَلَيْهَا مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا فَإِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ عَذَّبَ أَهْلَ مَعْصِيَتِهِ وَإِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُمْ»  

[Machine] "That the man learns the Quran and then sleeps without reciting anything from it."  

أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الرَّجُلُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ يَنَامَ لَا يَقْرَأُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا»  

[Machine] "A man should learn the Quran and then sleep until he forgets it."  

أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الرَّجُلُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ يَنَامَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَنْسَاهُ»  

[Machine] A caller will call on the Day of Judgment from beside the Throne, saying, "Indeed, the allies of Allah - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve." [Yunus 62] So, there will not remain any except that he will raise his head [in acknowledgment], saying, "Those who believed and were fearing Allah." [Yunus 63] And there will not remain any except that he will be humiliated.  

يُنَادِي مُنَادٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْعَرْشِ {أَلَا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ} [يونس 62] فَلَا يَبْقَى أَحَدٌ إِلَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَيَقُولُ {الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ} [يونس 63] فَلَا يَبْقَى أَحَدٌ مُنَافِقٌ إِلَّا نَكَسَ  

[Machine] "By Allah, I truly dislike much of talking and much of silence."  

«وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْحَدِيثِ وَكَثِيرًا مِنَ السُّكُوتِ»  

[Machine] "He who does not know what he is talking about, harms himself and does not benefit."  

«لَا يُحَدِّثُ الْحَدِيثَ مَنْ لَا يَعْرِفُهُ يَضُرُّهُ وَلَا يَنْفَعُهُ»  

[Machine] Abu Qilaba said, "If they were to greatly respect death with tranquility."  

أَبُو قِلَابَةَ «إِنْ كَانُوا لَيُعَظِّمُونَ الْمَوْتَ بِالسَّكِينَةِ»  

[Machine] Bakr ibn Abdullah Al-Muzani said, "Who is like you, O son of Adam? Stay between yourself and the prayer mat and the water. Whenever you wish, you can approach Allah, and there is no translator between you and Him."  

قَالَ بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ «مَنْ مِثْلُكَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ خُلِّيَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الْمِحْرَابِ وَالْمَاءِ كُلَّمَا شِئْتَ دَخَلْتَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَيْسَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ تُرْجُمَانٌ»  

“Modesty is part of faith, and faith will be in Paradise. Obscenity in speech is part of harshness and harshness will be in Hell.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4184)   

«الْبَذَاءُ مِنَ الْجَفَاءِ وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي النَّارِ وَالْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ»  

[Machine] "He is not considered righteous until he is devoid of greed and free from anger."  

«لَا يَكُونُ تَقِيًّا حَتَّى يَكُونَ نَقِيَّ الطَّمَعِ نَقِيَّ الْغَضَبِ»  

[Machine] Verily, Allah causes His servant to taste bitterness for what He desires of goodness in His consequences. Bakr said: Have you not seen a woman who endures childbirth or menstruation for the sake of attaining her health?  

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُجَرِّعُ عَبْدَهُ الْمَرَارَةَ لِمَا يُرِيدُهُ بِهِ مِنْ صَلَاحِ عَاقِبَتِهِ قَالَ بَكْرٌ أَمَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَرْأَةَ تُوجِرُ وَلَدَهَا الصَّبْرَ أَوْ قَالَ الْحَضَضَ تُرِيدُ بِهِ عَافِيَتَهُ  

[Machine] I do not know the value of zakat and have been asking my Lord for a need for twenty years, but He has not granted it to me and I have not lost hope in it. They asked, "What is it?" He said, "I asked Him to not speak except about what concerns me."  

مَا أُدْرِكَ عِنْدِي مَالُ زَكَاةٍ قَطُّ وَقَدْ طَلَبْتُ إِلَى رَبِّي تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى حَاجَةً مُنْذُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً فَمَا أَعْطَانِيهَا وَلَا يَئِسْتُ مِنْهَا قَالُوا وَمَا هِيَ؟ قَالَ طَلَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا أَتَكَلَّمَ إِلَّا فِيمَا يَعْنِينِي  

[Machine] That is, ask Allah for me so he wrote back to him [saying] "Indeed, your book has come to me, asking me to pray to Allah for you, and it is the right of a servant who has committed a sin without excuse and fears a death that is inevitable for him to be concerned, and I will pray for you while I am not hopeful that it will be answered for me by the strength of my own actions or the innocence from sin."  

أنِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ لِي فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ بَكْرٌ «إِنَّهُ أَتَانِي كِتَابُكَ تَسْأَلُنِي أَنْ أَدْعُوَ اللَّهَ لَكَ وَحَقٌّ لِعَبْدٍ عَمِلَ ذَنْبًا لَا عُذْرَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَخَافَ مَوْتًا لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنْهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مُشْفِقًا وَسَأَدْعُو لَكَ وَلَسْتُ [247] أَرْجُو أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لِي بِقُوَّةٍ فِي عَمَلِي وَلَا بَرَاءَةٍ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ»  

[Machine] I saw Bakr ibn Abdullah telling a story on the Day of Arafah, after the afternoon prayer, in a soft voice, crying and crying without raising his voice.  

رَأَيْتُ بَكْرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُصُّ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رُوَيْدًا يَبْكِي وَيَبْكِي وَلَا يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ  

[Machine] We entered upon Bakr bin Abdullah Na'iduhu, and we found him standing for his need. Then we sat in the house, and he came towards us, guided by two men. He greeted us and then looked at our faces and said, "May Allah have mercy on a servant who was given strength and used it in the obedience of Allah or was restrained by it from committing forbidden acts."  

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ نَعُودُهُ فَوَافَقْنَاهُ وَقَدْ قَامَ لِحَاجَتِهِ قَالَ فَجَلَسْنَا فِي الْبَيْتِ فَأَقْبَلَ إِلَيْنَا يُهَادَى بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي وُجُوهِنَا فَقَالَ «رَحِمَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا أُعْطِيَ قُوَّةً فَعَمِلَ بِهَا فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ أَوْ قَصُرَ بِهِ ضَعْفٌ فَكَفَّ عَنْ مَحَارِمِ اللَّهِ ﷻ»
